  1. Yes, i that if you don't like to fight on the ground.. you still need to learn how to fight on your back and learn how to get up and make a fight on your feet. Avoid being taken down is sometimes very hard specially when your oponent Wants to take you down.
  2. You are wellcome Lori... you ask whatever you want and you'll find an answer for your request. Who can say NO to you, cuttie?
  3. I may sound repetitive with this. But i think Crosstraining is the best way. That's what im working on now. A freestyle system. mixing punching, kicking and grappling (stand up and on the ground).
  4. I like white and black the most... Blue looks good too, thanks.
  5. Congratulations KUGB you did it great and i hope you keep up your good work.. Congratulations for your too Angie. It's great to heard that, you are a true angel bye...

  11. Hello, Can't really blame Augus for being so poetic with kickbuttnat. I have read her posting on the forums, she seems to be a very sweet girl by the way she talks....and i just saw her picture, and all i can say is this: Nat, you are the kind of girl who takes out the best of any guy.
  12. Angus, Hapkido wasn't created by a dude who did TKD and learned Aikido in Japan.. A korean who's name was Yung Sul Choi learned Japanese style Daito-ryu Aikijujitsu From Sokaku Takeda in Japan. Then Choi returned to korea and Taught that style to Ji Han Jae. Master Ji Han Jae then learned from an old Korean Monk the art of Taekyon which is kicking style, Chang Bong ( long staff ) and Dan Jang ( short staff ).. And from a Old Nun, Jae learned Dan jon Sul ( breathing techniques) and Son Do Sul ( meditation Techiques). As you can see, Hapkido looked more a soft, circular motion, locking and seizing, controling style, like Judo and jiu jitsu at that time. But i think now, intructors maybe are more concern on The striking aspects of the Art because they want to fight like TKD. Thanks.
  13. Hi, It's okay, take your time then... Just don't give up for good.
  14. I feel you can buy nunchucks and move them, swing them.. I remember i started with Homemade nunchucks.. and Yes, its safer if you buy them. and Yes, get those made with foam. lol specially if you don't know about the weapon. lol
  15. Angie, I think its all part of the process.. God knows i have messed up too, lots of times. The important thing is never give up. Take it as an experience.. Im sure that you won't forgot your katas anymore and on the next tournament you will be Great. Prove yourself you can do it. That you can stand up and try again.
  16. Jiu-jitsu is a very good idea, Lori. And also its great you are looking for an organized School. Now jiu-jitsu is so popular there's a lot of fake teachers... same happends everytime there's a popular art around. Good luck. Angus, I think Hapkido is more stand up locking with strikes... i don't consider hapkido as striking Art, man ... we did more locking than striking in the school i was. I guess it depends on the Teacher, maybe my teacher liked more the stand up grappling. Now im agree that hapkido doesn't have well developed ground grappling . For ground grappling, Jiu.jitsu, Judo, Sambo and wrestling are the answer...lol
  17. Oh well. lol I think first they must see a doctor.. then lose weight by proper eating and low impact exercises.. and when have lose several pounds Then the can Think on starting a martial arts program. It's very hard,.. sometimes it gets very hard to drop 15 to 20 pounds, now i don't even want to know what's losing 100 pounds.. I think it can be done, but it must be done Right and carefully. Thanks.
  18. I'm agree that the best age to start martial arts is early teens.. about 13 to 14 ... that was the age i had my first martial arts experience. Thanks.
