  2. Good stuff.. i've been on that web site before. Yes, kickchickAND kickbutt looks much younger
  3. Good Luck on your training, We hope to see you soon.!!!
  4. I do believe in crosstraing.. i think its good if you can have the chance to explore in others styles, learn the techniques, how they fight, etc.. But I don't believe that ALL fights or even the 80% of the fights ends one the ground...I've seen a Lot of street fights i have been involved in some.. and i must say that the 60% of them haven't ended on the ground.. But i still believe you must learn how to fight on the ground, you never know when you are going to be there.. maybe not become yourself a "Gracie" but at least know how to escape from the diferent positions that the ground have. Also, learn how to fight on clinch is a good idea and not many people take that on cosideration... maybe the fight CAN end on a clinch position if you know how to fight there. Anyway, I like crosstrain, and im actually learning a Crosstrained Style.. if you want to keep in one system only , that's your bussiness, if you want to crosstrain, your bussiness too. Remember that ALL the "traditional" systems we have now were Eclectic before.
  5. I've read that you MUST take time off, specially when you have been training hard for a long period of time. How much time, depends on you. but a week sounds reasonable.
  6. Do less cardio... Eat more protein... do weight training.... sleep more.. once or twice a week try trash food (ice cream, pizza, etc) but not too much okay?. lol
  7. Hi Skippy have a nice posting.
  8. I watched the movie a couple of years ago. Cool movie, but its wire Fu.. anyway there's plenty of action and good fights.. but i don't really enjoy too much the Wire work.
  9. Ok. I was watching E! News and i've heard about this movie. Donnie Yen is going to be there making his USA debut!!!! Sexy Uma, Super Wushu stylist Donnie Yen.. well that I would really like to see it. lol
  10. As someone in this Forum said once.. " don't try to win an sparring match, Sparring is for learning" Try to keep that on mind, Test your techniques and don't be afraid to use something new, that's the whole point of School Sparring to taste your techniques without the presure of a Tournament or even worse a street fight.
  11. The Throws used in Hapkido are the same that traditional Jiu jitsu use. Judo throws were modifed From Jiu jitsu in order to be "safe".. In Hapkido and japanese jiu jitsu they have shoulder throws from armbars , which makes pop your shoulder or throws from wrist locks, etc... something very dangerous. So that kind of techniques Don't exist on Judo.
  12. hey Lori, How was the tournament???
  13. It was a good decision i think... i hope you do learn whatever you want to now you feel you are good in Shotokan. Keep learning and crosstrain.

  16. Tiger: agressive, impulsive, never retreat on a fight, goes for the kill. Dragon: wise, Calm, always wait for the best moment, avoid conflict. What are you, a tiger or a Dragon?
  17. I don't know who he is, never heard of it. but i would like to know.. All the ken do kai, shi do kan, are new to me. thanks.
  18. Oh yes, of course, and the takedowns.. which are combined with the other techniques.. ex: takedown to armbar, takedown to choke, etc..
  19. In my School we use wrist locks, arm bars, shoulder locks, leg and knee locks, neck cranks, Chokes, and some preasure points as well. thanks.
  20. I used to draw when i was a kid, but i don't do it anymore.. But i got my brother into it and he's far better than i was ever been. He draws cartoons, DragonBall Z type, like manga animes. He have a couple of characters that he created.

  22. well as far as i know, No, you don't get his belt. You have to go through all the training and learn the techniques and then you get your belt, just like on the other martial arts.
  23. Oh, but Kung Fu have true legendary fighters as well. What about the legendary Wong Fei Hung, the Hung Gar master that fought in hundreds of challenges matches against kung fu masters, English and Rusian wrestlers and Boxer, etc.. He was never defeated, or at least, that's what the legend says. lol He was a doctor also, He used to help poor people and cure them for with No charge. There was a story of him fighting 30 people using the " 8 diagram pole " which is a long pole. He was also famous for a Technique Called " No Shadow kick". There's a lot more of REAL kung fu legend fighters. Maybe Iron Arath knows more about them than me. thanks.
