To all adult Martial Artists in America!
Karateka_latino replied to TigerKorea's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
Here in Panama the working schedules are from 8 am to 5 pm in most of the places. After 5 pm. you have time to do whatever you want. Classes here are from 1 hour to 2 hours , and most people only train two or three times a week. So you can work and Train. with no problem. lol -
OH, by the way.... i found a similiar Post in another forum. And they blame the Chinese Goverment for the lack of contact sparring in Chinese M.A. For sooo many years. It looks like when the Chinese Goverment took over M.A. They banned Contact sparring because it was too "barbaric" and "inhuman". So they restrict it to just Forms. Just a couple of years ago, they started the whole "San shou" competitions officially trying to bring back the Full contact part of Kung Fu. I wish a Kung fu stylist come here and give his opinion about it.

Karateka_latino replied to koreantiger81's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
My instructor is a Personal friend of me and my family so he say."pay me when you can " you can't get a better deal than that. lol In the University i used to train karate for free. You need to shop around, im sure you CAN find a more affordable place to train. Good Luck. -
Help!!

Wu Shu can help you in dancing as well. -
They don't go to tournaments because they are into forms and have problems with Real Contact sparring. That's the part i don't like about Forms. Chinese styles have to learn sometimes around 50 forms of 150 moves each. How much time do you have to learn the other skills?, That thinking "my art is too deadly for competition" is B.S. This days, most every style can compete. If you dont is because you aren't interest and your training is for other reasons, But please, "I don't want to abuse of you using my Iron Hand techniques", BAH!!!! G95Champ, Open Hand strikes CAN be used, i think people just dont use them because most of them are trained in Muay Thai or Boxing and don't know how to use the open hand strikes. For effective hand strikes watch UFC 3 kenpo stylist Keith Hackney knocked down a 600 pounds Sumo Stylist with an Open hand strike. So far, the only Kung Fu stylist i've saw in NHB is Jason DeLucia (5 animals Kung fu) Lost to Royce Gracie in UFC 2 but have done Okay in Pancrase fights. see you.

If you had to do another art....
Karateka_latino replied to ZeRo's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
I'd go back to Shotokan Karate because that's the first style i did and i still know the Katas and stuff and own the books, or maybe Kyokushin Karate. -
1. Be sure you know all the techniques and katas you have to know for that rank, refresh the jap-english karate terminology. 2.Role models aren't always the ones who do the right things all the time..Go there and do your test with all your heart and even if you do something wrong, you'd be still a role model. 3.Let me tell you, when you have sometime in front of the public, you'd start to feel less nervous and in a minute, you won't be at all. Just go there and Do it, you'll be relaxed after a few minutes. I'm involved in theater so i know what im talking about. lol 4. Close your eyes, Take deep breaths...count to 10... Good Luck!!!!

I don't pay anything... I trained in TKD for two years and only tested for yellow belt , because the test fees were too high for surch lower belt, around 50 bucks for a Gup was too much for me.

Look if you only want to kick someone's butt, you don't even need martial arts. The Arts are for self defense or Sport. You shouldn't talk martial arts just for revenge, this isn't a "kung fu movie" Remember, violence will only bring you more violence. Now, for your question..Boxing, kickboxing, muay thai, wrestling, in all those styles you can learn the techniques quick and the remaining time is for conditioning and drilling.
