  1. I may also want to add the old and very effective style of RUN-DO its a very usefull style for the street specially against several Oponents. lol
  2. its very nice from you to help the others. If you can't do anything to get out of there, then you can fix your own problems yourself. Maybe, you and your friends can talk with other martial artist that aren't in MCdojo Schools and try to do a mix class maybe on weekend when everybody have free time and you can train and learn usefull things that in your school aren't teaching you. But that things on the Contracts its really BAD, i mean, if i don't like something i should be free to go when i want, Been force to stay by a contract its terrible.
  3. I never wear the " Sonny Croket" outfit because at that time i was still a kid. lol But i remember my uncles wearing it. lol When we watch old pictures and see our relatives and friends wearing those "Miami Vice" stuff, it's died hard laugh. lol
  4. Well, I guess for a Small School when you know everybody you may not need a belt system. But Those who are Big organizations and have several Schools around the world may need a way to group there curriculum and know what a student is supposed to know when is wearing certian Sash/Belt.
  5. I never watched Saturday Night Fever... my mom have it on Tape, I always say i'll watch it but i never do it.. Maybe i'll do it this weekend.. And then, I'll try to picture Kickchick wearing those Boogy suits and Dancing with Travolta...lol Im not sure if you can out dance him, but im Sure you can kick his butt.. lol
  6. I once watched a seminar about Unarmed Techniques for the Police, and the Japanese instructor said he didn't use a particular style for Police officers since they don't have the time to train enough time to be proficent in a particular martial Art. This Instuctor used a mix of Traditional Japanese martial arts like Aikido, Judo, karate, in a style that i don't remind the name right now, but it was developed strickly for police officers Training. It was interesting, lots of join locks, takedowns, Low kicks, not too much punching, NO high/spinning/jumping kicks, Lots of techniques against weapons like Clubs, baseball bats, knifes, etc... Very practical and very easy to learn. but as i said, that was only for police officers. I felt lucky that they let me at least watch. lol
  7. Well, at 30's its supposed we Start to feel a LITTLE more old , but you people are mention stuff like bad Hip, shoulders, etc.... maybe i think you were very active competitors during your teens and have acumulate lots of injuries. Most i've been experiment is body weight problems and a little flex and stamina lost.
  8. Good luck finding a new school... from all the things you mention, its the best thing to do.
  9. Thanks for bring back the Forum, i missed it.
  10. "100 years of wisdom, in a 20 year old body" TKD master Jhoon Rhee-
  11. the bad things of the 30's: Little by Little starting to lose stamina, flexibility, hard to keep body weight down, the good things: wisdom, mature, much better techniques, patient, Experience.. Still, i feel we on the 30's have many assets, and STILL young enough to perform Well.
  12. Oh NO!! karatekid1975, i think you should start to shop around of a new School. Sorry. Things you mention are clearly MCdojo stuff. At the end, they'll start to offer you fries and a Coke with your Black Belt. Look for a serious martial arts School. that's my advice.
  13. hey, that's a good one, Id like to know about that style too
  14. Hi, I think a member called Iron Arahat do Shaolin Kung Fu. He use to post often and he's a nice person, so he'll be answering any king of questions you may have about Shaolin.
  15. Im starting to like a lot Aikijujitsu ... Thanks for the link
  16. WOW kensai, take it easy man... I feel you are having a heart Attack.. lol
  17. A grappler as soon as feels a punch, its going to Grab,... so I don't really advice to go and try to do chain punches straight line against a grappler. Unless you are Vitor Belfot lol What really works against grappler is learn how to grappler to know how are they going to attack you, and do a game plan. Same with the strikers, grapplers also need to know how a striker thinks, Know your oponent...
  18. Traditional Wing Chun or Wing Tsun or whatever you want to call it, does NOT have anti-grappling techniques, At least, not in the way you see it in magazine ads for the videos they sell. Those techniques were made up By Emin's Sifu Keith Kernspecht who was a Wrestler before start Wing Chun. And Emin itself claims to have studied some kind of Turkish Freestyle Wrestling. So all those techniques are from Wrestling that have been changed an adapted to look like Wing Chun. I'm not saying its not effective, but i can't say it Is either.. just my opinion.
  19. I think it works both ways... Girls also like to have a toned, fit, boyfriend. lol
  20. oh yes, i've been hearing of that practice. Using the "jeet kune Do Concepts" to teach everything but JKD.
  21. Im agree that the only effective way to avoid grappling is learning how to grapple-period. You'll know everything about the techniques so you have better chances to avoid it..
  22. Go to a party with your friends and if any of them get into trouble they all wait you act like Batman and save them... they even feel they can make problems because they have there own personal Black belt bodyguard. " I warn you to not mess with me because my friend overthere ( you are on a corner talking with a girl, not knowing what's happening in the other side of the room) Is a karate black belt and he'll kick your butt " lol
  23. Iron Arahat, don't get upset. please. I never meant to insult your style... i haven't seen enough San Shou matches, but as i said, they few ones i saw, looked more like Thai Boxing , A few years ago, i went down to train with a man i knew he was doing Mantis kung Fu, he didn't had a school, he just teach in the Park for the pleasure to teach. i took the class, he did a very traditional Kung fu class.. After the class I asked to spar with him. I threw a punch to him, he did a side step grabbed my shoulder with one hand and my arm with the other using a "mantis" grab.. and sweep my legs, and on my butt i was on the floor. I tried again, I tried to kick him and i swear i didn't saw him do nothing, and all of a sudden i only felt something hitting both of my legs and i fall on my back. and i say. "enough", lol A real man knows when to quit. lol He took me out using traditonal kung Fu techniques, but happends that i haven't seen too much of those techniques used on the San Shou matches i've saw.
  24. I just feel he did what he had to do in that time to help to promote Karate in Japan.. everytime martial arts cross borders they have to adapt it to that culture and people's needs. Same happends when Karate started in U.S. and the rest of the world.
