i wouldnt recommend spinning in a fight at all. but 'forarms' and 'elbows' (meaning a horizontal shot, and a vertical- bringing it down shot) are incredibly effective and devistating. also, make sure you know how to use them, because if you miss or mess up you leave yourself open for a lot.

Good Books on Judo and Jujitsu?
Vito replied to Shorin Ryuu's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
the gracies have put out some good books on BJJ, and though you cant actually learn from a book, theyre about the best books ive seen for martial arts. the only good ones, actually. -
Well-rounded MA
Vito replied to Cross_Trainer's topic in Choosing a Martial Art, Comparing Styles, and Cross-Training
all four is way too much, definitely. personally id recommend boxing and either the jujitsu first (if its good) or judo. that way you are rounded in that you have grappling and striking- and one of each is all you need. -
yes, but deadlifts and bicep curls are different in that biceps dont put strain on the lower back bones while deadlifts do.

Making A Fist
Vito replied to a2's topic in Choosing a Martial Art, Comparing Styles, and Cross-Training
no, thats the way to do it (two knuckles). you only hurt your wrist if its not straight. -
get your neck muscles and core (ab) muscles in as good of shape as possible. the rest is just getting used to it as it happens. be wary- taking all out hits either makes a fighter straighten up and fly right... or quit.

How/Should I get started?
Vito replied to ernienow's topic in Choosing a Martial Art, Comparing Styles, and Cross-Training
if youre into combat, look up mixed martial arts- usually muay thai and brazilian jiujitsu. -

Staying square...Why?
Vito replied to Topic's topic in MMA, Muay Thai, Kickboxing, Boxing, and Competitive Fighting
that whole facing your side to your opponent so to minimize the size of his target thing you hear about- doesnt work. it minimizes your ability to strike him. is that what you were talking about? -
i think that nunchucks are concealable (in a coat or something) and can really do some damage. they are also difficult to defend with, so theyre one of the few traditional/ancient weapons that still have some sort of use today.

i was gonna post a handgun, then i saw it so i changed my mind. i cant find a bottle of poison though.. so just imagine one.

Push-Ups, require more effort now than when I started...
Vito replied to Dragonfly's topic in Health and Fitness
that will happen if you never give them a rest. -
no, i mean that they do damage to your spine. simply put, that amount of weight on those bones can easily damage you in the long term- even if you do it perfect every time. its just dangerous.

i dunno. maybe they were experts enough to do it, but id still say never kick that high. if he indeed did kick a guy in the throat, hes lucky it didnt go wrong.

Whats your favourite stance , Why?
Vito replied to Matousek's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
i like to stand like a boxer/thai boxer if im fighting- thats just being ready to fight. cat stance, i have to say, will likely get you beat down on the street. -
talk to any guy who could be defined as a weight lifter or bodybuilder. theyll know.

Conditioning knuckles?? True or False?
Vito replied to YoungGrasshopper's topic in Health and Fitness
yea, devilman there put it pretty while. and its funny you should mention that, because i hate when people say bless you and i never do. however, its just a societal thing, rebel against it if you wanna be THAT guy (the one who listens to indy rock bands, dyes his hair black, you know what i mean...) but this knuckle conditioning * is completely different. taking off a hat when you go indoors is just a bit of class, nothing major. "the point or more correctly value, in the process is up to the person undertaking it to decide." what the hell does that even mean? its not the destination its the journey? lets get back to reality, youre gonna hurt your hands, maybe permanently. all to do something that you have no need to do. society's harmless little rituals and inflicting self injury pointlessly are a bit different, genius. -
its not really practical in a real fight. bruce lee did his one inch thing as a demonstration, and it made its point- but in a real fight youre best doin something else.
-
im pretty sure bruce lee did more than that.
