thing about abs is, you have to do as many as you can. if youre doing 30 and youre burning and you stop, good. youre on the way to progress. if you dont feel it, just keep going. do a few sets. same with leg lifts, its up to you what order and all that. that will build them up. lose the fat on the stomache, and bam! there are your abs.

Belt Ranks in Kickboxing?????
Vito replied to Shane's topic in MMA, Muay Thai, Kickboxing, Boxing, and Competitive Fighting
what kind of kickboxing is that exactly? does your school have a website or something i could look at? -
dont take any offense, because i mean none. but if tyson is one of this countrys heros, we are soooo screwed. did you know he used to help old ladies with their groceries as a kid... only to get them alone in an elevator or something and knock them out and steal their *? and even as a success story... look where he is now. broke. stupid. i mean, the moron ran out of gas in his rolls royce so he left it on the side of the road. thats not even to go into the earbiting, child eating nonsense.

guard position
Vito replied to Vito's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
hehe, my new favorite thing lately is to grab an arm, plant my feet and flip them with my hips into a mount position. i forget the name, but if you do it right its hard to defend against. -
Old school traditional fighters vs today's MMA top guns
Vito replied to cvkid's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
randy couture all the way. if mma top guns could be beaten by traditional martial artists, someone coming out of one of those traditional schools with their mystic abilities would have done so by now. -
oh, also- a month quite often isnt enough time to see clear, visible results. especially if you started off with some extra chub. keep with it though, its great that youre turning yourself around. more people in this country need to do that.

lifting weights or other strenuous activites gets your body in a state of activity. your metabolism and pulse is up, your adrenaline is pumping... youd probably have more luck getting to sleep after drinking a cup or two of coffee.
-
now why the hell would a bath hurt you after strenuous activity? all that water around your body must affect hurt you if youre tired? guess every olympic swimmer ever is going to have health problems? i dont know where this stuff comes from.

boxing might effect the the minds of professionals (like muhammad ali), but even most of them turn out okay. (just for the record, tyson has always been that messed up.) tell them, or better yet do a little research yourself to prove that boxing as a hobby is safe enough.. and has less injuries than many other sports, including basketball.

Uncontrolled fighter
Vito replied to Topic's topic in MMA, Muay Thai, Kickboxing, Boxing, and Competitive Fighting
cross has a great point. sparring inherently has a few rules, which i dont think your friend quite grasped. while it isnt exactly like a street situation (because of the rules involved) it will make you better at those street situations... but (i think) only if you follow the rules so to get better at the skills youre practicing. -
BJJ useful?
Vito replied to Maddwraph's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
bjj is definitely a good one for the street. you might want to cross train with a striking art- boxing, muay thai... but it alone is still great to know for that incident you hope never happens. -
Good Books on Judo and Jujitsu?
Vito replied to Shorin Ryuu's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
huh? i never said anything about it being new (?). all i did was recommend those, and say that theyre about the best out there (meaning as far as ive seen.) -
so the bouncer knows how to grapple. maybe he wasnt trained formaly, but he threw the guy pretty well apparently. the MT guy just wasnt as good a fighter, at least during that incident.

Disrepectful member in my shotokan dojo
Vito replied to Ti's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
well, this is karate class, and youre surely doing better than her and learning more.... i say kick her *! -
sasori_te... dont get me wrong, you handled the situation great. perfectly. but just for the record, defending a woman, particularly your wife, from sexual assault wont get you arrested unless the cops a reeeal dick with something to prove (bogus arrest), and certainly wont get you charged with anything.

its not too late until youre physically incapable. also, 20-30 minutes isnt necessarily a light workout with weights if you lift right. you can go in, do it heavy (but not too heavy), and leave. thats how you get stronger.

in one, want another...
Vito replied to Type_0's topic in Choosing a Martial Art, Comparing Styles, and Cross-Training
if you want to compliment your kempo id recommend bjj- a great grappling art. other good ones are tjj, judo, wrestling, sambo. -
Simplified to perfection?
Vito replied to Rick's topic in MMA, Muay Thai, Kickboxing, Boxing, and Competitive Fighting
i agree with you in that it doesnt contain extraneous crap (like crecent kicks and stupid stuff like that) and thats one thing that makes it an art better for fighting than many others... but in a way its probably more complex than those fancier martial arts because its real. -
k1 guys
Vito replied to Vito's topic in MMA, Muay Thai, Kickboxing, Boxing, and Competitive Fighting
usually i find k1 more entertaining too, more things happen. i dont know if its right below ultimate fighting though, because there are harder kickboxing rules out there like in thailand. -
Boxing
Vito replied to Gilbert's topic in MMA, Muay Thai, Kickboxing, Boxing, and Competitive Fighting
bobbing in a street fight is generally a bad idea, maybe not always. but i still think that boxers are among the best strikers in the world.
