What is THE WORST Martial Arts Related Injury You Ever Had?
pittbullJudoka replied to Tiger1962's topic in Health and Fitness
I have had a few over the past few years. I thinks I can start with hyper extending my lower back when demostrating how to sprawl and the timing was off a fraction of a second. Hyper extended elbow twice from diffrent arm locks in competions. Broken ribs training for a fight. twisted knee, broke right hand. And the strangest to me was the soft squishy spot I had in my shin for about 3 or 4 weeks after checking a kick. -
Rope work can in itself get you in very good shape. When I was training for a fight I did not have time around work and workouts to put the road work in so I would do 20 to 40 minutes of rope work before my work outs. My cardio was great in the ring and I never ran.

How Old Are The Martial Artists Here ?
pittbullJudoka replied to Tiger1962's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
I put my vote in for the 30+ group since I hit the big 3-0 in a few months. And you just listed every problem I currently suffer from. I tell the younger guys that train with me "you may be younger faster and stronger but I'll just use the dirty old man tricks I've seen over the years and hurt ya I'm too out of shape to bang with the teenie boppers. I just ko ya and get it over with" Just wish I has taken better care of my self when I was a kid now. -
Wanderlei Silva Wants to Fight Liddell
pittbullJudoka replied to Patrick's topic in Pro Fighting Matches and Leagues
Their fight fight was great to watch from begining to end and I'd pay fifty bucks to watch another one no matter who won both are great fighters. -
Now that is point fighting I can stand to watch. And a great show of class by the winner after the match also always good to see.

Do You Favor a Side When Sparring?
pittbullJudoka replied to joesteph's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
I naturally fight orthidox (right handed) but I tend to switch back and forth to south paw this way I'm comfortable throwing power shots with either hand. -
Wanderlei Silva Wants to Fight Liddell
pittbullJudoka replied to Patrick's topic in Pro Fighting Matches and Leagues
In opinion the fight would be good but have about the same result as the first time they fought. -
This is great subject. I was just talking with an off duty officer about this yesterday. Around my parts it only takes someone pointing at you or coming within arms length after you ask them to stop. After being asked to stop one more step shows aggression on their part giving you the right to do what you find nessicary to take control of the situation. But if you have no doubt that a punch is going to be coming you way. Strike first, strike fast, Strike hard. The last thing you want in a fight is to be one step behind trying to recover from a well placed punch if you don't go down or out.

RIP Justin Levens
pittbullJudoka replied to pittbullJudoka's topic in Pro Fighting Matches and Leagues
My wife read on yahoo that they are thinking murder suicide which is still tragic. MMAWeekly.com said in their article soon as anything new comes to light they will share. -
Hello, Please post your picks for this event, as part of KarateForums.com MMA Picks, as a reply to this thread. The fight card is below. You may choose both the match winner and the method of winning (either submission, knockout/technical knockout or decision). For example, if you'd like to select Bruce Lee to win by submission, you could say "Bruce Lee, Submission" or "Bruce Lee, Sub". "Sub" or "S" can be used as shorthand for submission, KO can be used for knockout/technical knockout, which are considered the same thing as far as these picks are concerned and "Dec" or "D" can be used for a win by decision. Even if you don't know much about a fighter or have no idea about the method, you are encouraged to pick a winner and method in all matches to maximize your chances of winning. For full guidelines, please review the KarateForums.com MMA Picks User Guidelines. Picks for this event are due by 12:00 AM ET on December 27,2008. Here are the fights that you may pick: Forrest Griffin vs. Rashad Evans Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira vs. Frank Mir Wanderlei Silva vs. Quinton Jackson Mike Massenzio vs. CB Dollaway Mostapha Al Turk vs. Cheick Kongo Dean Lister vs. Yushin Okami Mike Wessel vs. Antoni Hardonk Reese Andy vs. Matt Hamill Brad Blackburn vs. Ryo Chonan Pat Barry vs. Dan Evensen Full standings: http://www.karateforums.com/karateforums-com-mma-picks-2008-standings-vt34777.html Please post only picks for this event in this thread - discussion should take place in the proper forum. For discussion of MMA matches, please use Martial Arts Entertainment. Thank you for participating.
