I broke my first board today!
pittbullJudoka replied to evergrey's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
Congrats! Wait until you break your first piece of concrete. I still have a piece from my first concrete break signed and dated. Good job. -
I believe number one is a good sprawl. As stated above to keep the fight standing if you are a striker. also having good break falls can make or break you. Also sweeps to get you off the bottom because you don't want to hang out on the ground any longer than nessicery. The sweeps get you off the bottom and closer to your home range of standing. Most people you may have a conflict withh aren't going to have a good ground is such things as a guard and subs.

It wasn't either of the fighers involed in the fight. A third fighter entered the cage and ask for a remach with the victor. He has since publicly appogized to the fighters, the tv station and Strike Force. He is saying his actions caused the whole thing to go wrong. Pretty big on his part. Here's alink to his appology. http://www.mmaweekly.com/absolutenm/templates/dailynews.asp?articleid=11275&zoneid=13

There's two things you don't want to go cheap on. Those are mouth pieces and cups.
-
A mouth guard is something you don't go cheap on. I use Shock Doctor mouth pieces with great success. I use the dna model it's about $20 to $25 but worth the mouth piece. But I would have to believe the denist made mouth guards would have to be the best because of the custom fit. No matter house much a store bought mouth piece costs could compare to a mold pulled directly off your own mouth. Just remember you get what you pay for.

First off taking the first punch isn't the best of ideas. As DWx said it can be very dangerous. In my opinion a threating movement is enough but it's a fine line to walk. Most defanitly the attempt to touch or puch you even if it's just a finger pocked in you chest in a violent manner is enough. I don't think verbal threats are enough. You could ask 100 martial artist and get 100 diffrent responces on this subject. The first opion should be try to talk you way out of the situation a physical confritation should be the last ditch effort to remove youself from the situation.
-
you'll be fine as a southpaw. There's no written law stating one has to practise right handed only. You should train both side equally as those above have stated. I can fight either way but mostly fight from an orthodox stance but have some kicks and strikes that are better with my left than right and vise versa. You'll be fine just go out learn and have fun.

Glad to see ya back man.

I feel you pain. The last point tourny I competed in I had simular incodent. The first guy I went against was from the same school of all 3 judges at my ring. I think I managed to score 2 points. The honorable thing would be to call tourny and explain the situation.

I just watched this fight. All I can say is WOW. He looked great for a new fighter. He dominated every minute of the fight. Here's the fight stats Walker Nagy Strikes landed/thrown 77/106 73% Strikes 7/36 19% 2/5 40% Standing Arm Strikes 1/10 10% 6/10 60% Standing Leg Strikes 0/0 0% 69/91 76% Ground Strikes 6/25 23% 2/3 Takedowns 0/1 3 Dominate Positions 0 Pretty impressive in my opinion.

Will be ever see the Gee worn in UFC again?
pittbullJudoka replied to tdiedwards's topic in Pro Fighting Matches and Leagues
The only way the gi will ever come back is if every fighter wears one. Because it could be a weapon for either fighter especially in the later round of a fight were sweat becomes a factor. If one fighter wears the gi and on doesn't on fighter has handles his opponent doe not have. Also the fighter wearing the has the advantage of choke not avalible without the gi and he it vonurable to chokes himself. So for the gi to come back both fights will have to wear it to make it a fair fight. -
