  1. Davison, whish you better luck in that matter and thanks for sharing.
  2. I practice Okinawan Shorin ryu , there are several katas that are related to white crane, this is beside original shuri-te katas , seems to be a family style created and developed in okinawa by Matsumura. they call them Hakutsuru. could you give me some info about white crane kung fu and connection between white crane karate and chinesename boxing. these are the of the katas I know in white crane Ni ju ken tsuru ken shorinji sanchin ..... I have to say the idea and aplication of white crane in karate is in a higher level compares to normal shuri-te. I also practice sanchin (from Naha-te , the sensei miagi version) but i think shorinji Sanchin is the most advanced version of sanchin i've ever seen. thanks.

  6. I've been around martial arts for a fair amount of time; I've practiced many different styles okinwan, japanies and Korean. As we know karate started from Okinawa, moved to japan and to korea,… many karate masters started their own styles based on Okinawan Karate, I have seen many off shoot styles still doing some basic forms like Naihanchi,Passai,Pinan with different names, execution and interpretation. still I have not seen one style to do these forms as strong and practical as okinawans do, so what's this urge to make new styles which have a softer interpretation compare to original styles? newer styles are more sport oriented and less deadly, the fighting system as Matsumura or Hohen Soken had taught to many okinawans is simple and straight forward , take the eyes, take the knees..., as time passes by and human being becomes more civilized many habits and life styles have been changed. could this be the reason for martial arts to become sports oriented? Last night sensei told me that one of the students has left because his mother thinks it's to violent and he may break his already cracked finger. Going into this new era that human being becomes less active, calmer , and virtual reality looks more real than ever before, Should we follow the society toward more peaceful life by watering down the original martial arts?
  7. we used to send the moves to each other through short e-mails, there was no online messenger like MSN or yahoo. here we can just post the game like I start with 1-e4 you can reply by your move like 1-.... e5 and keep going , or through message box.
  8. good job, it's never late.
  9. We use it shindo jenin ryu too, I noticed jap. styles have changed the Neko ashi dachi to Kekutsu dachi or zenkutsu dachi in many forms, all the starting cat stances in pinan have changed to kekutsu dachi (in Heian series) and in Bassai dai to zenkutsu dachi.

    Confused

kARATE started in Okinawa , there were three village Naha,Shuri,Tomari accordingly We have Naha-te Shuri-te Tomari-te Naha-te mainly became okinawan Goju-ryu and Uechi-ryu Shuri-te and Tomari-te became different Shorin-ryu styles , Matsumura Seito and Isshin-ryu. hopefully someone will give you some info about Japanies Styles of karate later.
  18. Master Jules , how many techniques you have , how you categorize the techniques , is it like some MA with numbers or name?
  19. We use Vertical for rib.... , corkscrew and 3/4 for body, then there are some others that you don't have time to hear.
  20. why don't you tell us a little bit about your story first.
  21. We hope so, would you tell us a little bit more about it, i've seen this CQC but never actualy found a club.
  22. one big difference would be vertical punch of Isshin ryu compare to corkscrew punch of other karate schools, Isshin ryu is more okinawan compare to Jap. stayles like Shotokan which means the old way. kyukoshin does full contact , two others go with more control. Isshin ryu has kata and elements of Goju ryu compare to shotokan which comes from shorin ryu. they all good as far as finding school later when you move it's like this 1- shotokan 2-kyukoshin 3-Isshin ryu
  23. very good post,AnonymousOne
