  1. Most likely I'll be there too.
  2. lineage is the first thing i try to figure it out in a new dojo , i pretty much know all of them 1- shorin ryu/Kenshin kai from Bob Kazar from Yokoyama from Nakazato from Chibana 2- shindow jenin ryu/shorin ryu/seibukan from Darell Craig from Eizo Shimabuko from kyan 3- White crane from Glen Thompson from Ronald Lindsey from Hohen Soken
  3. battousai16, you are a must, so far all of us are karate people ,we got to have a kung fu stylist.
  4. I think Anan was a chines master and Ananku means light from south.Ananku is a tomari kata in Kyan lineage , Anan is a Naha-te kata , the most famous Anan is Ryuei ryu version which won a world title (performed by sakamoto) Mabuni also had his version so shito ryu also practice Anan, Konishi learnet it from mabuni and adapted to Shindo jenin ryu as well.
  5. with a willing husband you don't need a heavy bag, use some of your shin kicks on his thigh.
  6. wellcome to KF.
  7. i divide it in two, 1- run to the opponent 2- run from the opponent.
  8. one of my motivations is perfecting my techniques in kata ,knowing the moves is something and knowing the kata is something else, I also started in white crane karate recently these new katas need more attention than my original shorin katas. I normally do these katas about 20-30 times in each class and more i go in my sensei shows more details in each one that i need to work on so it seems to be endless in perfecting the techniques.
  9. his Nidan in Goju ryu seems real.
  10. when you say okinawan I assume you mean Shuri-te and tomari-te since Naha-te (goju ryu) is compeletely something else. Shotokan supose to be the same as okinwan but when Funakoshi brought the karate to japan he had to make some changes so japanies would accept it, as a result during the years katas has changed from it's original version for example you don't see Naihanchi dachi( ippon Sanchin dachi as some people calls it) in shotokan any more it changed to Kiba dachi which is totally different so the meaning of Naihanchi kata also has changed now it is Tekki with another bunkai, all(most not include sandan) the Nekoashi dachi in Pinan series changed to Kekutsu dachi, shiko dachi in shotokan is deeper than okinawan version, the shuto block/strikes are different, moveing the back leg is different, and some more technical details, as far as kumite shotokan does point sparring with full control , you shouldn't hit the opponent, from 2-3 inches to slight touch are all good if you do the technique right (not a cheap shot), in okinawa some do point spar and some do full contact but annual full contact tournoment in okinawa is done by protective gear and it is a bloody game, some schools do open hand kumite , they don't hit with seiken they hit but not very hard we call it dojo level. in my school we put the gloves on , i use head gear too since they hit hard to the head and i have 30 miles driving back home.
  11. good thing about your sparing is that you don't have to protect against punch in the face, you have to move in right after his kicks, and block and punch over his punch, he will moves back to create the distance you gotta move with him and keep it in a close range although still he is stronger than you, but watch for his sweeps too he will try to take you down this also can be done by you. good luck
  12. as far as beating I guess they can beat anyone.
  13. My girl friend was in CA she sent a mes. on yahoo "Happy Valentine day,I got you something" I replied "happy v.day, mail it" that was it.
  14. Flank, the problem you have is not about a pressure point or a eagle claw, it's about your way of thinking and looking into this problem, if you ask me i would say in university try to be nice with him but as soon as he starts the * you got to stand up, putiing up with oppressor just make him more abusive, let me tell you a story, I was not a bully in high school but we had a small group like 3-4 of us,there was this slim and weak classmate we been enjoying harassing him verbally, it was like that till one day he came right at me a punched me in the face after 2 years, I didn't even try to hit him back since he was not in my level any way, he didn't scared me but made me think over and he had our respect from that day, even if i beat the crap out of him that day ,he already had made his point. I am not inviting you to be violent but some times and in some points you have to make a decision you may get beaten but it won't be like before after that .
  15. the car i really loved was a Toyota Celica 98 , I sold it since i had no time driving it,it was stupid to spend around $1000 a year without driving. I use my Toyota tacoma the most, last week i had a customer who has a 300Z very nice car we almost polished and chromed all he had under the hood ,he is going to a show in March. these are the most popular cars for customizing now a days 300Z, integra, MR2,Supra,Civic

  18. I go home to my girlfriend and say" guess what, I am a gay"
  19. I think one of the worst thing I always do (i guess you do the same) is to return and start practicing without proper and enough rest, some times i know what i am doing is wrong but still can't stop. I was practicing while my leg was in the cast and it took me 6 months to heal a broken fibula and my doctor was wonder what could be wrong of course i was not giving him any clue.
  20. first time happend in a very soft Tatami,I steped in for the first time for my first spar in that dojo, I jumped up and landed on one leg, boom my knee poped, I rested for 2 weeks , again same place i was doing a mawashi again poped, I left that dojo, in new dojo after 3 weeks ,one night I spared with sensei again I am standing on the same leg for mai-geri befor i open my chamber sensei kick into my chambered knee the other knee didn't withstand the force and poped, so i decided to stop all the sparring and yakusoku till it heals compeletly.
  21. i've never seen kihon katas on the net, teki is Shotokan kata the original kata calls Naihanchi which we practice in shorin ryu.
  22. After three times dislocating my knee I quit sparring I enjoy doing my old shorin katas and the new ones, tonight he started Matsumura Hakutsuru sho hopefuly one day my legement heals and i spar again.
