you can call it , oi-zuki(Nagamine the father in "Okinawan karate Do") or oki zuki( nagamine the son), or side hammer fist strike, or chudan yoko kentsui uke(?), or like me you can call it tettsui/tetsuie(hammer fist of course not vertical rather sideward)

in Gojushiho ,I have two refrence for slide,slide version, one is Matsuda the founder Myobukan shorin ryu his lineage goes to kyan and chibana second is through (sensei yukoyama)kenshinkai shorin ryu which comes from Nakazato the half step version i have to ask it my be from Nakazato or fusi kise . both versions use Nukite. my first question about kusanku dai leads my to another question , in pinan yondan do you use tetsuie and maigeri or sokutu geri and back fist?

in kusanku dai, after two punch blocks at the start ,we turn back 90' clockwise ,here i've seen Nakazato does a back fist and side kick together before turnning back with shuto block, i've seen at least 2 other sensei of chibana lineage who turn back with tetsui and front kick and one sensei turns back with middle block front kick(like pinan shodan), how you do this part in Gujoshiho, 2 Nukite-zuki that we repeat 4 times, after the wrist lock how you initiate? in one dojo we initiate with a front foot half step(you can call it slide) while we do the first Nukite-zuki, then one step and we do the second Nukite. in another dojo we do one big step for first Nukite and one slide for second Nukite-zuki. kusanku dai , after double block, ( one hand does jodan-uke and one hand does gedan yuko barai uke in a nanami zenkutsu dachi(i prefer to call in kubodo back stance) your jodan hand hit over the gedan hand or under it?Nakazato hit under , i've seen others hit over.

i love Sensei Mabuni, he was a kata collector ( me too i learn katas from anybody and any sty) you can see all the three main linage katas (shuri-te , tomari-te , naha-te plus Ryuei ryu) in his style. it's intersting that sensei motobu one of the best karate-kas ever, belived that 3 naihanchi katas are enough for mastery in karate.

first time i met my current sensei was in a locker room, the belt was almost white and i asked him if he likes karate so far, and he said "yes so far it's ok" , and in the class after 2-3 minutes i found out he was invited to teach the class a white crane kata , after the class i asked him about his dojo and he told me that he has small dojo in his garage, i've been with him since then,

what katas do you practice in this style?

hard for me to understand exactly, is your back leg drag or rotate to shizentai at the end from 45 starting angel? when whould you start rotating your fist compare to your chest angel, if you start from chest at 45 off? i think this is the way we punch in kihon katas I,II while walking i will try it in a stationary position like a final punch when i use my weight for more penetration.as i understood i should delay my fist rotation compare to hip rotation.

i've learnet two katas ftom tapes , Anan from ruyei ryu and Seru from miyubukan shorin ryu (sensei Matsuda).

these guys been charging my grilfriend $175 per month , they gave her a yellow belt too and charged her for that, still can't punch, seems to be pretty McDojo.

yes that's the way it supose to be but it is not for most. out of 5-6 karate senseis i worked under, only one emphesise on this. for most of students the reverse punch in example starts from their chambered hand and this is a bad habit.

i am a demonstration dummy in one of my classes (sensei is my friend) so i got hit there almost always, it takes about 3-4 weeks before she recovers could be more, you know some people like to show off their injuries she is one of them, don't worry let her enjoy it.

I use a 60/40 or 50/50 with heel very close to the floor, this is what i heard okinawans do not a fantsy stance at all, i hate to stand in Nekoashi and wait for snap kick, my sensei proved it that it's wrong in real fight ,he ramed into my posture every time not care of getting hit just body change. in practical i keep my front foot on the floor without puting too much weight on it.
