Ever played chess? Ever trapped a piece in one spot, in the corner? Consider this to be 'trapping'. I hope the analogy helps, because i think it incooperates everything everyone has posted here.
Is there a name for the stance when youre ontop of youre opponent, who happens to be begging for mercy at youre feet?? Because I quite like that one...lol
I cant say Im an experienced kickboxer; I've indulged in it every know and then. But if you want to talk kickboxing - let's talk kickboxing! [ This Message was edited by: Jiggy9 on 2002-03-05 11:45 ]
I realise that this has little to do with the one hit one kill debate but ramcalgary's post about limited punches in shotokan karate reminded me off something that I have been meaning to say...! Well I have heard plenty of people say that the punches in Shotokan Karate are limited, not really applicable today e.t.c. but I dont think that many people know that the more common 'hook' punches and 'uppercut' punches and many other variations do actually exist in Karate. I would agree that they are not commonly taught or seen; but they are there; and ofcourse almost all the kicks which are seen in kickboxing are too seen in karate...lol really - I dont see the difference between the two!
Yea Iron there was a post about this in the old Judo section...I was on the floor laughing when i heard about it. But then I realised in the US you can sue for almost anything! but jeez..
Once the opponent has been setup, and I know that i have that spare milisecond to excecute a full punch with maximum power from the hips, whilst launching from a low stance - I do it. At that point it is both practical, and effective...
I like my free standing stance - only because i can flow into any other stance quickly and easily from there... [ This Message was edited by: Jiggy9 on 2002-02-24 10:23 ]
