PHEONIX:very well expressed and i agree with you wholeheartedly. kung fu has been around much to long to be weak. i think that possibly because of the flowing movements and flashy style it can be mistaken that way when seen for the first time. _________________ rushman (taekwondo moderator) 3rd dan wtf/kukkiwon florida [ This Message was edited by: iamrushman on 2001-06-08 11:01 ] -

in korean karate (taekwondo) we traditionally use: white/yellow/green/blue/red/black. sometimes with a stripe of the advancing color in between. there are many associations and federations in korean karate(taekwondo) and i'm sure they may use variations of these colors.

what type of poomse do you practice?
iamrushman replied to iamrushman's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
sorry gentlemen; poomse is the korean word for forms, another older word used is hyungs. in japanese it is called kata. maybe you can enlighten me and tell me what the name for forms is in other martial arts. sorry for the misunderstanding. _________________ rushman 3rd dan wtf/kukkiwon florida [ This Message was edited by: iamrushman on 2001-06-06 21:54 ] [ This Message was edited by: iamrushman on 2001-06-07 09:28 ] -

in my view, i feel competition is not about winning or losing but the fact that you have to perform in front of a crowd. thus giving you the training of expecting the unexpected. it also gives you self confidence required to do tasks in front of others. sort of like public speaking. just my humble opinion
