"Tenants of Taekwon-Do"
iamrushman replied to Jerry Trimble's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
JERRY TRIMBLE; thank you for bringing this to light here. i do share your opinions on this subject. i also feel that in todays world these concepts should be practiced and incorperated into everyone's life that share the training of taekwondo, so that it may be possible to pass on to others that don't practice the art. TENETS OF TAEKWONDO: 1) COURTESY 2) INTEGRITY 3) PERSEVERANCE 4) SELF-CONTROL 5) INDOMITABLE SPIRIT TAEKWONDO PHILOSOPHY: 1) BE HONEST, ALWAYS STAND FOR JUSTICE 2) RESPECT AND HELP EACH OTHER 3) BE LOYAL AND COURTEOUS humble respects with a bow -

this question brings back many wonderful and great memories..... .as you increase in rank your testing becomes more concerned with mental attitudes, dedication, integrity and perseverance to your art plus the physical aspects you possess. also your sabumnim (instructor) looks for those same qualities in your students. furthermore; time between testing goes from months to years. now for the answer to the question. my 3rd dan test included: poomses: all color belt poomses(forms) all black belt poomses to my level. 1 personally created weapon poomse(my weapon was the cane) breaks: 3 different mutiple technique breaks of three boards. 2 speed breaks with boards. 3 concrete slabs without spacers with a hammer fist. sparring: combat with 4 assailants at the same time. also individual sparring with at least three people of the sabumnims(instructor) choice. and with judging for the color belts and lower black belts included this took from early morning till early evening. so for you younger practitioners this is what you have to look forward to.

yes thats true its a shame that the only protection seems to be no protection at all. unless your ready to go to court to prove it was self protection against a life threating action against you or your love one. -
(i had made this entry in the wrong thread today, so i'll post here for continuity for the thead.) i personally try to combat and control my anger in confrontations so that my techniques can flow without restriction. (there i feel better now)(lol)
-
what was i thinking.....i must of had another thread in my head when i wrote the above statement. (lol) yes; all life and individuals should be respected, also i try to win over others that have no respect by showing even more respect...of course my mood often dictates that.
