cross training
iamrushman replied to ewing's topic in Choosing a Martial Art, Comparing Styles, and Cross-Training
combat hapkido has all the things needed, like grappling, ground work, throws, hard strikes, deflecting, evading, joint manipulation, sweeps, pressure points and similar kicking used in tkd.....it uses a circular concept as opposed to the linear one and is most useful outside the dojang. -
for me it's about knowledge and achievement not the belt..if i must be a white belt so be it, but my past knowledge and achievements stay with me and belong to no one but myself.

karateka san.. just wondering if that study is impartial. due to the fact that it was produce by the karate foundation...however because karate is the most world renown name for martial arts and sometime used as an umbrella term. (i.e. korean karate = tkd) it's most likely true. just for my personal information.

students ask me all the time, if i have ever use my martial arts. answer; i use my martial arts every day. it has taught me to hold my head up high in every situation. it has taught me to have patience with others. it has taught me to have self control in verbal confrontations. it has given me character thoughout my life. and these are just a few of the ways i use my martial arts training in everyday life. the funny thing is after that answer, they always say..........yeah, but have you every used your martial arts? _________________ rushman (taekwondo moderator) 3rd dan wtf/kukkiwon [ This Message was edited by: iamrushman on 2001-08-29 19:51 ]

kicking technique
iamrushman replied to taezee's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
the back kick can be very effective..........you step away from them and your opponent thinks your getting ready to run ,but you fire it back at them in surprise. -

iamrushman replied to CTpizzaboy's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
KICKBUTT is right........ big difference from sparring to street........no rules in the street.... well there is one rule ...don't get killed, hurt, or maimed. -

I want to do something else...
iamrushman replied to babysteffee's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
sure BABY(sweetie) anything is possible for you...what do you have available in your area?.....go and check them out....don't just watch one class but several classes.....ask lots of questions.....talk to the instructors and the students several times before you make a move or a decision...have patience and find something that matches your personality and body style. good luck with your studies. -
oh; just for fun... you see belts are good for something like holding your foot up.........
-
sure i'll try......... fold your belt in half then take the closed end and put your foot in the loop then you hold the open end with the same hand as the the foot in the loop...... using the other hand to stabalize your self with the wall or a chair...... when you have your balance let go of the wall or chair and try to maintain your balance....use your free hand to grab the wall/chair if you begin to lose your balance. not your ankle but the arch of your foot. try to make perfect form. hope you understand this....maybe someone else can explain this better in words than me but it is quite simple to do. this is a static exercise not for active kicking. just for balance _________________ rushman (taekwondo moderator) 3rd dan wtf/kukkiwon [ This Message was edited by: iamrushman on 2001-08-28 19:44 ]
