  1. excuse me .....but if a person has devoted and dedicated their lives to the martial arts, most likely they have participated in some sort of training at some time. however; i refer to the original question where the recipient is just the sponsor of the school with no training what-so-ever...i do believe that a show of respect is due, but it is disrespectful of that person to order the other student around just because he sponsors the club.. just rushman's humble opinion..
  2. yes; it's true honorary black belts are for the wall and for show, thats all, just like honorary college degrees............that guy's just a joker, a wanna be or a comedian in uniform...how disgraceful and disrespectful..... the true instructor should straighten him out and quick... or give him private lesson till he earns it.
  3. i vote for other because my choice is the cane a very practical weapon. due to the fact that it is assumed that the person with a cane has some sort of affliction or is handicapped, giving them the upper hand from the start.. it also works as a short staff with a hook. and it needs no concealed weapons permit to be carried and can be carried in the open.
  4. i feel that any humble and respectful person is a black belt in themselves... to me, it's not about combat, but charity, compassion, etc, and the ability to hold one's head high knowing they are living a righteous life to become a superior person. (confucius 551-478bc)..... just rushman's humble opinion..

  17. oh; i forgot to mention that i personally prefer the club funner, close net, and more family type atmosphere.
  18. in response to the school vs the club: i feel that the use of the word club is a more friendly, funner and personal in meaning than the word school, that could be interpreted as more professional, and business like but could be more impersonal. therefore i understand how a club may want to change it's name to school to increase enrollment. moreover, we all know how increase enrollment is the life's blood of business survival. just rushman's humble opinion. _________________ rushman (taekwondo moderator) 3rd dan wtf/kukkiwon florida This Message was edited by: iamrushman on Aug 17, 2001 3:56pm

  21. yes...taegeuk sajang (the 4th in the series of taegeuk poomses) is the begining of the complex forms of taekwondo... i like the introduction of the spearhand thrust used in this form. good luck in your studies. _________________ rushman (taekwondo moderator) 3rd dan wtf/kukkiwon florida This Message was edited by: iamrushman on Aug 17, 2001 11:11am
  22. welcome to this forum SDALLAS00...nice to have you here. it seems, as you can see here in this thread, that with the many different organizations, styles, and schools or clubs involved with tkd many different catagories have been derived. as with your discription, with the 3 levels of white belt, it has become very innovative and interesting not to mention colorful.
