mortal kombat is a good one too

i started when i was a little kid boxing, around the age of 5 or 6, then i went on to learning my hybrid style over 12 years ago and over the last 4 years i have studied many other styles, where i just flew through the belts in those schools, basically no matter what style it was i already knew the moves all i had to learn were the forms/katas or whatever you would like to call them....

yes that would be embarassing hahahaha also if you are shoveling snow use the shovel raking the leaves, sweeping the floor, what else?

keep us informed on how the training goes. -
hey if you come to okinawa soon look me up, we could train together, granted it would include flights and stuff from my base to yours but hey i'd give it a try

i studied in a school where it was an average of a year or two per belt, i studied there for 8 yrs before i even got to the level to start thinking of black belt, and i was a top notch student.... granted i was always thinking of black belt but it took me that long to learn everything to a primitive level, after that i had to get it all down to a perfection before i could test, so that took awhile, in my school no body gets their belt before 5 yrs, it just doesn't happen. We learn alot there though due to it being a hybrid system, and no my instructor is not in it for the money, he will let us go months if we don't have the money and testing is cheap, as are the monthly class rates

the ninpo budo taijutsu class i take has only 3 belts, white, green and black

i agree to getting to the talk and walk stage, yet every so ofter you will run into someone that just wont give up and just keeps pushing and pushing, well i guess everyone has to draw a line somewhere...... i feel bad for those that want to push us over the edge
-
i have realised now after seeing many classes and different schools what to look for, unfortunately there are not too many good schools in the world any more, so you should all be proud of your schools and instructors!

i just came back from thr college and was observing people and thinking of what they were carrying... could you flail someone with a book bag... beat someone with a notebook, trapperkeeper, or text book.... if you are carrying sports equipment you may have track shoes, balls, who knows what all you could use

The truth about the whole KI story...
granmasterchen replied to isakowski's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
true, i think that a large factor that holds us back is society, being raised as a child we are told what is hard what is soft what is impossible and what is real, children can break boards and stuff quicker than adults, why? because they have not been around long enough to know that they should not be physically capable of the act, if we get past this social barrier in our mind we can push our selves to further hights, the more we push the better chance that our offspring will have a better chance to out do us, mankind as a whole doesnt use the brain for these tasks, if we all started to , mankind would adapt and evolve to make it more possible for us to achive these tasks. -
i realised that many things were wrong, but i just wanted to see if i could learn anything new, i try to go to every martial arts place, every where i go....i really didn't learn anything there though, oh well it makes a fun story, the guy was probably in his 40s or 50s maybe older, but he wasn't what he said he was....

The truth about the whole KI story...
granmasterchen replied to isakowski's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
right now with the fact that we can only control a small 10% of our brain we are limited in what we can do, we can still perform miraculous feats that amaze many in the world, yet if we had control of even say 20 % or 30 % of our brain, like fireka said, we could do stuff that we would only see in cartoons and anime, if we could unlock our mind we could do anything....or almost anything, i truely believe with full control of our minds we could crush cars, fly shoot lasers what ever, but as for human evolution right now we can't , if someone unlocks that part of their brain, then who knows what they can do. -
i like when in a fighting stance, the other steps forward with a jab, block the jab to his inside, side step around to his back side and reverse punch to the kidneys

i have changed alot i was originally a Smart mouthed arrogant kid, with a bad temper and no self confidence, now i am alot more humbled, have a lot of confidence and can control my temper, but this does not hold me back from getting into fights if someone really wants to start something, i will gladly fight them and crush them, i still love to fight, more than ever, yet now, i don't start fights!

i feel there is more than one area first you have strenght, muscles and such then you have the control of adrenaline(mothers ripping off car doors to save their children) then I feel there is chi/ki when you focus your mind and generate energy the way i look at is in this order, at least for me, each one generates a large amount of force. a 90 lbs weakling can use chi/ki to break some stuff up with no problem, it is all about learning how to do it a person with no skill or muscle can generate alot with adrenaline alone, yet this is hard to control for individuals with no knowledge of it, and is also a rare occurance muscle alone can get you alot because it is always there and you know how to use it from the day you're born with adrenalin and chi you have to develope it and get the correct mind set

sounds good i like that

i like training outside on thr ground, get the fresh air, grapple and get dirt in your mouth......training outside in any environment is what i mean by ground, asphalt in the parking lot, back yard, whatever, the ground....sorry i left out the carpets, i don't like the rug burn.......
-
yep, that is true stephen, that is what i wanted people to realize yes throw the loose change, just like dirt, sand it confuses the opponent for a second so that you can get one good surprise tech in newspaper sounds pretty good...hmmm car antenna, ouch one of my instructors used his karate belt, with amazing proficiency....he beat me and my two friends up....that was funny

well this "8th dan master" was telling me how ineffective the back fist was.....i was polite and said ok, later he said my punches were sloppy(which i really have alot of pride for) so i was offended but said ok, (he was jealous b/c i was faster), plus i noticed that every time he threw a punch he closed his eyes! well the class went on for awhile and everything i did seemed to offend him, nothing i did would be good for a streetfight, so one day infront of his class, and another class that was waiting in the loby, he was determinded to make an example out of me....he challenged me to a sparring match.....well i waited for him in the center of the floor, he threw a punch and closed his eyes, so when he closed i side stepped and threw a back fist to his head(useless tech), then he puched again, another side step with another back fist(useless) and then a third time(still useless),,,,,well that was the whole match....i truely believe that this guy didn't know what he was talking about and got his 8th dan out of a box of cracker jacks....it was a terrible mcdojo,.....when i had sparred him i had over 12 yrs experience with mixed martial arts.....i later opened up a class in the same area, and many of his former students came to learn off of me......i only used one tech on him, the backfist, yet it is useless, says the 8th dan grandmaster of mcdojos.....

i went to a keith hackney seminar back in the day....we were testing how well we could sense things from behind....we had individuals throwing frisbies at us from behind and we would try to feel it coming and swing the nunchuku back and hit the frisbie.....well one of the instructor's wives was doing this drill, missed the frisbie and knocked herself out,,....so did alot of other students also there was this tournament several years ago where a good friend of mine and fellow BB was doing breaking, he had 4 cement slabs and they were lit on fire....he approached performed the break, but...he had hairy arms and some of the fuel splashed onto his arm, well his arm was lit up...that's ok, we were prepared....we had a mini fire extinguisher....well this purple belt ran out there and proceeded to hose him down.,....but nothing came out, my friend is on fire and this lady can't get the extinguisher to work....well later when my friend was safely put out and lost alot of arm hair, we found out that the purple belt, wendy had tried out the extinguisher earlier to make sure that it would work.,...well the problem was that it was a one use fire extinguisher.........oh boy...soon after she left our class.
