Looks like the Golden Knights and Avalanche are off to good starts. Bruins are also undefeated. Vegas at 6-0-0 is the best six game start in NHL history for a team that won the cup the previous year. On the other side the Oilers have started slow. I don't read much into that though. -
Houston wins game five to go up 3-2 and Arizona wins game four to tie the series 2-2.

Someone on Twitter started a conversation a while back about who would win in a boxing match, Mike Tyson in his prime, or LeBron James if James had two years to train. Again, skill, technique, and experience vs size. LeBron, 6'8" 260 is much taller and heavier than Tyson, 5'11" 218 in his fighting days. I am not informed on boxing, I just find it hard to believe that someone with two years of training could beat a heavyweight world champion who has boxed all of his life, even if the boxer is both smaller and lighter. Two years of training in martial arts is not even long enough to get the fundamentals down, generally, but I am not sure how that relates to boxing.

Decent game tonight between Jacksonville and New Orleans. Jags hold on to win 31-24 after Saints dropped the tying TD with under a minute left. Jags are now 5-2 and could be a real contender in the AFC.

If I have a costume this year, I will be making it on the cheap.

I'm surprised they have struggled in the red zone, I though that was a strength of the team in recent years. Of course it is a new season and things can change fast in the NFL.

Astros win game 3, 8-5, Rangers lead the series 2-1.

Walker Texas Rangers take the first two games against Houston, and Philly wins game one against Arizona in the NLCS.

Arzona shocked the Dodgers and advanced after a sweep of the series. Houston also advances and Philly has a 2-1 series lead after beating Atlanta on Wednesday. One game Thursday between Philly and Atlanta, at 8pm eastern time. You can see the game on TBS if you care to watch it.

100% agree here. Tbh the size/weight is more important than the height. someone equally skilled, my height but decent amount lighter i usually feel i can 'bully' a little when sparring; someone equally skilled, shorter but same or greater weight usually feels a LOT harder (especially if they can take a hit) - it's why they have weight classes and not height classes Would you say then that reach advantages are overrated? Not challenging your opinion, just asking.

Baltirmore had a great regular season but they were swept by Texas and the Walker Texas Rangers advance to the ALCS. Houston crushed Minnesota 9-1 and lead the series 2-1. Games for October 11: Wednesday, Oct. 11 ATL @ PHI, Game 3, 5 p.m. (TBS) HOU @ MIN, Game 4, 7 p.m. (FS1) LAD @ AZ, Game 3, 9 p.m. (TBS)

Braves win to tie the series 1-1 with Philly, Arizona is up 2-0 after beating the Dodgers on Monday.

There is a social media personality who is a body builder and does a podcast where he talks to professional fighters and sometimes he askes the fighter "do you think you could beat me" often times the fighters are much smaller. The podcaster feels he would win because of his size and muscle, the fighters believe they would win because of their years of training. Just got me wondering how much skill would be needed to overcome someone much bigger and stronger. There is probably no universal answer, but I would image that in some cases skill would win, in others it would not. That being said I was once threatened and then pushed by a coworker who had at least 40 pounds one me, and one kick to the nuts put a stop to that.

Rangers win and go up 2-0 on Baltimore. Twins take game 2 on Sunday against Houston and for the first time this postseason we have a tied series.

The Patriots are horrible. My God.

Texas, Houston, Philly, and Arizona were all winners on Saturday and now have a 1-0 series lead in the best of five round. Dodgers fell behind early and trailed 9-0 in the second inning, Arizona held on to win it 11-2.
-
I know this has a lot of variables and might be impossible to answer, but how much training would a person need to overcome an attacker who is larger than they are? Person A is 5'9" tall 165 pounds, a second-degree black belt with 8 years of training and they get attacked by person B who is 6'3" 220 pounds with zero training, who would have the advantage?

Kata is great to learn online, and you can learn and practice a lot of techniques without a partner, but to understand how effective you are at using them you will need someone to train with in person.

Sounds good on the first one, I don't know the second one.

Fraiser reboot starts October 12.

I try not to be too optimistic or pessimistic the first five or six weeks of the season since there are so many examples of early season success that goes wrong later in the year, and the opposite can also be true. Right now though I'd say it's similar to last year, the top two teams in the NFL are Philly and SF, in the AFC Buffalo and KC, though I think teams like Dallas, Jacksonville, Detroit, and maybe a couple more could disrupt things.
