Results from Monday night: Carolina 4, NY Rangers 1. NYR lead series 3-2 Dallas 5 Colorado 1. Dallas leads series 3-1.

Florida wins against Boston, takes a 3-1 lead in the series, Vancouver wins in Edmonton and takes a 2-1 series lead. Game 5 of NY/CAR and game 4 of DAL/COL are both on Monday and both air on ESPN.

Kid Rock - Run Off to LA

Carolina avoids the sweep by beating the Rangers and giving NY their first loss of the postseason. Dallas wins game three in Colorado, 4-1, and takes a 2-1 lead in the series. Two games on Sunday, Florida @ Boston and Vancouver @ Edmonton.

Toronto has fired head coach Sheldon Keefe after the Leafs first round exit. Winnipeg coach Rick Bowness has retired. The Jets were better this season and back in early January were the top team in the league, however they end the season the way they ended it last year, winning game one then losing four in a row to be eliminated in the first round. It was a disappointing finish to what was otherwise a decent season for Winnipeg.

Thanks. I had quit drinking for a long time but then I started up again. I realize I feel much better physically and mentally when I am sober. Drinking, even in moderation, does not help me move forward in life. Instead, it holds me back. It steals my time, money, and health. It is no longer a matter of a want; it is a need. I think I have consumed enough booze for one lifetime, and I've had my final alcoholic drink. Just to be clear I am not an alcoholic; I just know I feel better when I avoid it and as I get older that becomes more and more important to me. I think we know many of the long-term health effects of prolonged excessive drinking. I am choosing my health and my body instead of alcohol. In no way is this a lecture to anyone else who drinks, I have plenty of friends who drink and do it frequently and, sometimes, excessively. It's their life and that is fine, I am not here to judge, simply sharing my feelings about it. That is all.

Rangers win again, 3-2 over Carolina on Thursday. My preseason pick of Vegas and Carolina in the finals is one game away from being fully trashed. Interesting point about the 2OT. I never knew that but it makes perfect sense. Last year when Florida won the 4OT game against Carolina in game one it kind of felt like the series was over, but I never realized it was so common.

I saw it. There has not been a great roast in many years but if this is what we had to wait for, the wait was worth it. Fantastic show. Three hours is a bit long for a roast, but I loved a lot of the performers. I knew Ross and Glazer would be great, but Drew Bledsoe I thought was really good too.

I thought that the A's leaving could increase attendance as a farewell this season, but the fans are so fed up with ownership that attendance might drop even further. I don't blame them, ownership ruined that team. I wouldn't spend a penny on them either. I am a full believer in being a bandwagon fan, no reason to give my time and money to some millionaires and billionaires who are not providing a decent product. I root for the same teams, but I don't put time or money into them when they stink year after year, Yeah, I can easily see why the A's decided to move to a Triple A venue next season. I doubt that the A's will be able to fill that venue either. The A's don't sell out at the Triple A venue here in Las Vegas, The Aviators, whenever they play here. Btw, the A's already lose a lot whenever they're here in Las Vegas during the few games they play here during the MLB pre-season. I'd imagine the new stadium would sell tickets just based on interest in seeing it, and because many Vegas residents are transplants who will go to see their team, the Yankees, Red Sox, Dodgers, ect. From what I hear at Raiders games about half the fans are cheering for the visitors. I would expect that to be the case when the A's arrive. Voters in Kansas City recently voted down a proposal to stick taxpayers with money for a new Royals stadium, so maybe the trend of taxpayer funded stadiums will start to die out. What happened in Minnesota was that taxpayers did not want to pay for a new stadium, but the Vikings owner threatened to move the team to Los Angles (this was back in 2010 when LA did not have a team) and the governor supported keeping the team and the taxpayers got stuck paying hundreds of millions of dollars for the new stadium. Now that the Royals stadium funding was voted down, I'd expect the team either to threaten to move or to shake down the elected officials and find a way to stick the taxpayers with paying for at least part of the new stadium. That is how it often happens. Only a handful of NFL stadiums are funded exclusively with private money. I am not sure what it is for baseball, I doubt it is much different. As someone in the UK i always find the taxpayer funded stadiums in the USA staggering for the spiritual home of capitalism. The large football (soccer) teams over here all have to pay for their stadiums themselves and the government wouldn't dare part fund one of them. The English club tottenham built a £1bn stadium (i think it was that!) and it was all self funded, so it isn't as if they are building bargain basement stadiums. Much as i am not a Jerry Jones fan i always had respect for the fact that he financed the new Cowboys stadium himself. I don't see how billionaires, running multi billion dollar companies are entitled to state aid for their stadia, but maybe thats just me! It is definitely not just you. I find it absolutely repulsive. I think for the most part voters don't agree with it, but the issue sometimes does not get on the ballot because the team owners lobby the politicians to pass the bill. I read in Las Vegas the A's paid around 100 grand to Nevada legislatures that voted on the bill that funded the stadium. The billionaire's profit, the politician's profit, and the taxpayers get screwed. It's gross.

Stay safe. Do you have a CCW? I don't know the laws where you are but many martial artists I have trained with over the years (and some who still do) have extensive firearm training. I've had three sensei's (one a retired cop) who carry nearly everywhere despite decades of MA experience.

Anyone been to the Sky Dome in Toronto and stayed in the hotel there? I guess there is a hotel room in the stadium that you can watch the game out the window. Interesting. Looks like a great experience.

Metallica - To Live is to Die

The Golden Knights run for a repeat came to an end on Sunday in Dallas, Stars take it 2-1. After losing in six games to Vegas last year, Dallas bounces back and wins this time. They will play Colorado next starting on Tuesday night. Game 1 will be in Dallas. The NYR won the opening game against Carolona to take the early series lead, making the Rangers the first team to win a round 2 game this year. Boston and Florida play game one on Monday.

Boston survives and move on after a 2-1 overtime win against Toronto in game 7. Another disappointing ending to the season for the Leafs, who last year got out of the first round for the first time since 2004. Another game 7 on Sunday Vegas @ Dallas. Also game one between Carolina and the NY Rangers. Boston and Florida will play game one on Monday.
