Fourteen games on Saturday, meaning 28 of the 32 teams were in action, to close out a very busy week in the National Hockey League. Jets win again, now 8-0, meanwhile the Wild lose and go pointless for the first time this year, the Flyers beat them 7-5. First regulation loss for Minnesota and a good start to the season. The other winners on Saturday were the Sabers, Stars, Kings, Bruins, Lightning, Canadians, Rangers, Panthers, Predators, Canucks, Hurricanes, and Golden Knights. -

Rams were winners over the Vikings on Thursday Night Football, 30-20. The Vikings were undefeated on Sunday morning and now quickly have two losses. They will have to sit on these losses for a bit, the next game for the Vikings is Sunday night, November 3, against the Colts.

Alright, I did not remember that tonight is the one time out of the year that all 32 NHL teams play. Here are the 16 winners from this annual event, which always takes place on a Tuesday. Senators, Capitals, Wild, Lightning, Jets, Sabers, Rangers, Blue Jackets, Red Wings, Canucks, Avs, Predators, Hurricanes, Flames, Ducks, and Golden Knights. I'm going to bed. -
How important is time in rank?
KarateKen replied to Luther unleashed's topic in Instructors and School Owners
This is how it was in Hapkido. White to yellow was min 3 months, yellow to green min 6 months, and then it continued with six months until red, and I think it was min 9 months in red before testing for black stripe, or whatever it was, who can remember. Master also told us that if we are testing for green and we perform the techniques at red belt level, he would then promote us to a red belt. He immediately assured us "that has never happened, and it never will happen, but in theory I would." -
Even after years of training and sparring in different styles, in a real situation my instinct is the same as a white belt in his first weeks of training. Front kick to the balls and then get the heck out of there. Though we do not got for groin kicks while sparring, they do happen. I have been on both sides of it. Agreed that it is good to spar with a variety of students, ranks, body size, ect.

I was going to return to the gym today (have not been there in a week) but I woke up and my low back was hurting so I decided not to go. Might see how I feel Thursday and then go back.

Memories of first belt test
KarateKen replied to KarateKen's topic in Share Your Testing, Grading, or Promotion
Have you been nervous about tests other than your first one? I get nervous every time, I am a mess the night before the test and the day of, but once the test starts, I settle in and it is not as bad. -
Former Dodgers pitcher Fernando Valenzuela has passed away. He was 63. I'm sure you will hear more about this during game one of the World Series.

The Jets are putting the win in Winnipeg right now, after tonight's victory against the Blues they are now 6-0, and remain the lone unbeaten NHL team this season. Minn (not win) esota Wild beat the Panthers 5-1 and they are off to a decent start. Other winners were Washington, Buffalo, Tampa Bay, Detroit, NY Rangers, Nashville (first win), Colorado, Vancouver, Columbus...sheesh I think every team in the league played tonight. Vegas just scored a PP goal while I am watching this, and lead the Kings 2-0 on ESPN. -
I don't know if this is still going on, but there was a time when the Chicago White Sox were being sponsored by 7-11 and part of the promotion was starting home games at 7:11 pm.

41 points for the Ravens tonight who are now 5-2, winning five in a row. They are tied in first with Pittsburgh. Tampa drops to 4-3. Bad sequence late in the half for Tampa as Mayfield throws a pick in the end zone and the Ravens go down and kick a FG before halftime. Tampa is tied in first with Atlanta. Cardinals also defeated the Chargers 17-15 in the AZ. Or the Zona. Whichever you prefer.

Dodgers finished off the Mets to win the NL and now face another NY team, the Yankees, in the World Series. It's New York vs Los Angeles. It's the Yankees and the Dodgers. It's east coast vs west coast. It's old school, but not even close because it is present day. And I don't care.

Adams did play for the Jets on Sunday night, but it didn't help much, the Steelers won 37-15. Another disappointing night for gang green. The Jets play the Patriots on Sunday, the worst team in the AFC, so they should get a win there, but they better turn it around and fast now that they are 2-5. With the Vikings loss and the Chiefs winning against the 49ers, KC is now 6-0 and the only unbeaten team left. The Chiefs play in Vegas next week against the struggling Raiders who of course are without Adams and could be without Crosby by Sunday.

Lions win a close game in Minnesota, kicking a field goal with 15 seconds left to win it 31-29 and moving into first place. Browns lost and Watson was injured, apparently for the season with a torn ACL, at least that was the early report.

The Karate Kid - 40 Years
KarateKen replied to KarateKen's topic in Martial Arts Gaming, Movies, TV, and Entertainment
A new Karate Kid movie called "Legends" has been announced and will come out in May of 2025. The poster and first Trailor have been released. It will be the aftermath of Cobra Kai, which means the final five episodes of CK will have to be before then. I did that math on my own!
