  1. It's definitely good to be practical. I remember many years ago a story of a martial artist at outside a night club who got into a confrontation, he stepped back into a stance and yelled a loud kihap, but while he was holding his yell in an attempt to intimidate, someone from behind hit him in the back of the head knocking him out. Very bad situation.
  2. Fair enough.
  3. Busy schedule tonight with 12 games. Washington was an 8-1 winner over St. Louis and Ovi had two goals, now 31 away from Gretzky. Ovi and the Capitals have started strong this year. Winnipeg continues to top the league, another win tonight, this against Dallas, and they are 14-1. Devils and Rangers were both winners, along with the Senators, Leafs, Preds, Sabers, Panthers, Avs, Kings, and Oilers.
  4. Doors - Light My Fire
  5. However they do it, I hope it is as good as Cobra Kai has been. The show has continued the legacy of the movies very well imo.
  6. Less than a week until this fight. Any final thoughts?
  7. Never thought about this before but I understand it. I've trained in schools where we never do it, and schools where we always do it before and after class. I prefer to not do it as part of the training.
  8. Six months.
  9. Wild get the W tonight against the Ducks, moving them up to 22 points in 14 games, a record of 10-2-2. Great start to the season. Still four points behind first place Winnipeg who is 13-1, 26 points, the top record in the league. Other scores from Friday were Leafs 3-1 over Red Wings, Penguins 4-2 over Capitals, and the Kraken win in overtime against the Golden Knights, 4-3.
  10. Alice Cooper - Elected
  11. Lots of talk about the ending to Thursday night's game where the Ravens won 35-34. Lions play the Texans on Sunday Night Football, looking forward to that one.
  12. I did not get a chance to watch any football today, but I did see the Lions won in Green Bay, putting them at 7-1. Vikings won and are 6-2. NFC North looking tough, three teams with at least six wins. The NFL trade deadline is Tuesday at 4pm eastern. Not sure what to expect but a good chance there will be some movement that day. There seems to be a lot of anxiety about Tuesday. I am not sure what else is happening on November 5, I am not aware of anything, so I think a lot of people are on edge about what could take place at the NFL trade deadline.
  13. The name alone is worthy of nomination.
  14. I would just say this....I think many students have days or weeks or longer where they are not feeling as motivated as they once were, but those also pass. We all have bad days, bad weeks. The true test of dedication is how hard will you work when you don't feel up for it? Anyone can put in the effort when they want to, when you don't want to is where your dedication will be tested. Edit: I also want to add something else. There are many times when I did not feel like training but did anyway. I can't think of once when I wished I had not gone. I learned though experience that even when I don't want to go, just go, because I will be glad I did. Some of the most fun I had in class was nights I did not want to attend.
  15. The NFL continues to be unpredictable. The NY Jets pulled out a Thursday night win against the Texans to end a five-game losing streak and improve to 3-6. Houston falls to 6-3.
  16. Joe Rogan Podcast
  17. Alright. Since the new format I have been posting in wrong threads at times. I will try to look more closely. Thanks for the update.
  18. I don't know if it changed, or if I got wrong information, or misunderstood, but it I think you are correct.
  19. Halloween movie theme (watching the movie!)
  20. The LA Dodgers have won the World Series. They win game five by a score of 7-6 and take the series 4-1. This is the Dodgers first World Series win since 2020. Sorry. @sensei8 the NYY had a good run.
  21. Bobby Pickett - Monster Mash
  22. My first tournament (TKD) was on this day (Oct 29) in 2005, so 19 years ago. I remember feeling a lot of emotions. Nervous, excited, overwhelmed, tried to take it all in, and it made it difficult to sleep. We had a sparring seminar the night before and I won against a higher rank but was 0-2 against my own rank in the actual tournament. I was a green belt. I did forms and weapons, where I placed, but did not place in sparring. I felt pretty good that I got two third place medals in my first tournament, but knew I missed a chance to win a sparring match, especially the second one, and to this day kick myself over some clear missed opportunities to land points. It was about a 13-hour day between participating and volunteering at the event, but I left with more energy than I came in with. It was so much fun to get that experience for the first time. I did see stars for the rest of the night though, a kick to the head did that. Possibly a concussion, but other than that I got out unscathed. Fun day and fun memories, still recall it like it was last weekend nearly two decades later. Please share your own, if you want.
  23. Very interesting, thanks for posting this.
  24. Never been much of a factor for me that I can recall, other than falling when I lost my balance on the medical ball. Or whatever that big silver one is called.
  25. Green becomes red. The calendar says Halloween, but my belt is looking a lot like Christmas.
