I have no idea why I care about this fight or why I am rooting for Tyson, but I am and I am. Is there a rivalry between Paul and Tyson? What is the point of this fight? The entire thing just feels like a big money grab. Why else is a near 60-year-old man getting into a boxing ring with a 27-year-old?

Thank you, thank you.

There are several BJJ schools in my city. That will be why the purple belt's class is quiet then! Unless they are a big name competitive bjj guy / mma fighter, if there are other schools then most people will gravitate to the more senior ones Makes sense. -
A few minutes ago I got promoted to green belt. On KarateForums.com

When I take a pair of jeans out of the wash (I hang dry them) and they are dried, I shake them out, up and down, back and fourth, I grab them by the waste and move them with my hands like I was walking. I zig and I zag. It tends to make them feel softer and not as tight, more comfortable on the first wear. Never tried this with my Gi so I have no idea if it would help or not.

It's 2022, where are my gi pants with pockets?!
KarateKen replied to Zaine's topic in Equipment and Gear
I don't think I would use it or care for it. Maybe a back of the pants pocket, maybe, but that would be it. Though because the gi pants don't have pockets I don't use them as workout pants or walk around in them. I guess I could sleep in them but eh. -
Sounds terrible. Thanks for sharing your experience.

I have the belt for every rank I have ever held in my entire life, but I also have a number of white belts that came with the Gi that I have never worn. Is there a way to recycle or donate these white belts that I will never use? Is dropping them off at a Goodwill or other donation store even worth it? Do they use them or just throw them out? Anyone know?

One thing I forgot to mention is that I used to collect tickets from concerts, sporting events, ect. I still have the ticket stub from my first rock concert. It was Aerosmith when I was 16 years old. The show had to be rescheduled, twice, but I finally got to go. They are still one of my favorite bands. I threw out most of my old tickets though, it just felt like hoarding. Anytime I watch hoarders I am reminded that I have too much stuff and I start putting items in donation boxes or just throwing stuff out. It's probably good for me that all my tickets are now electronic.

The game on Monday in St. Louis is a big one, then they play in Minnesota on Saturday. Important week for Vegas, a real opportunity to increase separation from teams chasing them. -

Once again the Wild come up short. They got one point against St. Louis tonight but needed two. Minnesota has dropped to 10th in the west behind St. Louis and with Vegas seeming to have snapped out of their slump the already slim playoff hopes for Minnesota are starting to dwindle even further. -

Minnesota got a break on Tuesday when Vegas lost to Tampa Bay, but in typical Minnesota sports fashion they failed to help themselves on Wednesday and lost 6-0 to the LA Kings. Minnesota remains three points back of Vegas for the final playoff spot. Vegas and LA are also competing for the third spot in the pacific. Minnesota and Vegas meet two more times in the regular season, each team having a home game. Those two games could decide who goes to the playoffs and who does not. The first meeting is March 30 in Minnesota, then again April 12 in Las Vegas. The Seattle Kraken, who were still playoff hopeful a week ago, have spiraled into a five-game losing streak and their playoff homes are basically done. The Jets, Stars, and Avs are all tied at the top of the central with 93 points, only one point behind Vancouver for the top seed in the west. Out east the Bruins 97 points is the most in the league with Florida and the NY Rangers at 94, Carolina right behind at 92. Detroit, Washington, and the NY Islanders are all fighting for the final spot in the east, and the Buffalo Sabers still have a chance, five points out. Buffalo has not made the playoffs in like 13 or 14 consecutive seasons, an NHL record. The Sharks, Ducks, Blackhawks, Senators, and Blue Jackers are all stinking up the joint and are at or near the bottom of their divisions. -

I worked out at a UFC gym for about a year and every Wednesday they had a purple belt teaching BJJ. Most of the time nobody was in class though, he just sat there while everyone else was boxing, weight training, ect. Again, this is not my area, so I don't know how it would be viewed for a purple belt to lead class, or how much experience a purple belt would have. Just thought it was strange that he showed up every week and rarely did anyone train, I think the most people I ever saw there were two. -
When I was a kid I was into sports cards. Baseball, football, hockey. I might still have some sitting around somewhere but I have not looked at any of them in at least 20 years. I do a little collecting of different things. I have some autographs and a few pieces of game worm appeal. I used to collect guns but sold most of those off, it has been at nearly a decade since I bought a gun, I would guess. Books, I collected books for a while and still have a lot of those but some have been donated over the years. I don't collect much anymore, just memories I suppose.

Nice wins for O'Malley. DP, and Maycee Barber. We might see Barber on the main card for her next fight. O'Malley and Merab is the fight that makes sense to me.

It's scheduled for July 20th on Netflix, who is getting into streaming live sports. Any thoughts on the fight? I find it strange that there is a three-decade age gap between the fighters. Has anything close to this ever happened before? I don't follow boxing and have never really watched it, so I have no idea. I don't know much about Jake Paul; I think he emerged three or four years ago through social media and got some fights because of it? I will likely watch this fight and it would be the first Tyson fight I have ever seen live. Edit: I realized I should have made this a poll question after I posted, so I added it now.

In a free agent twist that is stranger than bizarre, presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has said that he is considering Jets QB Aaron Rodgers as his VP. Rodgers and Jesse Ventura are "at the top" of Kennedy's short list of candidates. I don't that it that seriously but then again who knows. Lots of other action going on including the Patriots trading first round pick Mac Jones to the Jaguars. Jones is expected to back up first overall pick Trevor Lawrence. Vikings QB Kirk Cousins has signed with the Falcons. This is not a surprise and had been rumored since the regular season ended. Many more moves as well. Every team is signing and/or trading players this week.

Flyers head coach John Tortorella was ejected from the game in Tampa the other night but refused to leave the bench. After a continued back and forth with the official he finally did leave. His lack of cooperation lead to a 50,000 dollar fine and a two-game suspension. Torts was angry about a penalty called on his team and gave the ref and earful leading to the ejection. Ironically, I was just thinking a few weeks ago "what would happen if a coach refused to leave the game after an ejection." Well now we know. -
Sounds good. Looks like it is healing correctly. Thanks.

Bizarre ending to the Nashville Minnesota game Sunday. In overtime Minnesota pulled goaltender Marc Andre Fleury and add an extra attacker. It paid off as Minnesota got the goal and got a much-needed win to keep their slim playoff hopes alive. However, it is a risky and unusual play. There are only three other times in NHL history that I am aware of where this ever happened, and twice it ended in a empty net goal. This is risky not only because of the empty net, but the rule says that if you pull the goalie in overtime and lose, you are stripped of the point in the standings that you normally get by making it to overtime. It was a gutsy call but the correct one. Minnesota is chasing both Vegas and Nashville in the standings, hoping to get a low playoff seed. One point would not have helped them because they would have fallen a point behind Nashville when they needed to gain one. Very rare situation that worked out well for Minnesota. -
Pittsburg appears to be interested in free agent QB Russell Wilson as the two met on Friday. Wilson was cut by the Broncos this week who will have to eat 85 million dollars of his salary. The Russell Wilson trade will be remembered as one of the worst in NFL history. I don't think it will pass the Hershal Walker trade, but it might be the worst NFL trade since. Though the Browns decision to trade for DeShawn Watson (what is it with last names that start with a W that are such a big L in the NFL??) could be a serious contender by this time next year. That had to be one of the dumbest moves I have ever seen a franchise make. They gave up six draft picks, including two first rounders, to trade for a guy who had not played in over a year, had two dozen sexual assault allegations, and then gave him over 200 million dollars of guaranteed money on top of that. Unbelievably stupid.
