  1. Superfoot had THREE good moves Side, Hook, and round.
  2. Steven Segal can more than hold his own...certainly better than Van Damme.
  3. I agree. It just depends on what your goals are. If you leave a hole in your game, it only matters if you're in a situation where that hole will be exposed... i.e. I don't care about my grappling ability in a point sparring tournament, nor do I care about my elbow strikes in a pure grappling match.
  4. Well, you beat him at Boxing, not karate...even though you both do a contact "fight-like" sport, they are VERY different. I consider myself a very good martial artist, and I know I'd get killed if all I could rely on was punching against a boxer. My two cents.
  5. Wow...I'm sure glad that marketing a black belt home study course will bring back the tradition to martial arts.
  6. I don't get it...you're skeptical?
  7. Welcome aboard
  8. Hey howdy! Welcome aboard!
  9. Actually, that's not the case. Bodybuilders don't possess the kind of core strength that WSM competitors do. They specifically work out muscles that will conform to a specific shape (you don't see too many bodybuilders training their obliques, for example, because it makes their physique too trunk-like) WSM competitors go for a higher 1 rep maximum, and for muscular endurance. those of you that are diehard BBers or WSMers, please forgive my generalizations.
  10. Not all bodybuilders that you see in comps are on steroids. A lot of that is just a VERY low bf%. WSM competitors are working out for functional strength/endurance; whereas bodybuilders workout to achieve a certain size and look. In short, WSM is functional, BB is aesthetic. As for lennox lewis, his workouts are completely different. He's probably doing more with cardio and plyometrics, not to mention core strength building excersizes. In reality, you can't compare what these guys do in their workouts, because they do it for different goals...its apples and oranges.
  11. Basically, McDojo's are typically franchises of martial arts schools. They teach watered down techniques that are very easily mastered (and in real life, very easily countered). They charge fees for practically everything, and most of it is over priced. Its a big money making machine. Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with making a profit doing this thing that we all love to do, but these guys are sellouts. I know that someone on here in another thread found one that had three membership upgrades (all of them at least year long), and guaranteed a black belt by the end of it. While I understand the appeal of the offer, what I don't understand is why anyone would wear a blackbelt that didn't mean anything.
  12. thank ya!
  13. thank ya!
  14. I don't post on MMA.tv, but I do frequent there...great site. I was going to start doing a few Grappling events that they have ranked, but my elbow is still screwed up. Thanks for the congrats! There were actually a few pro wrestlers: Alexey Ignashov [ Belarus / Chinuk Gym ] vs Shinsuke Nakamura [ Japan / New Japan Pro-Wrestling ] Winner: Alexey Ignashov (3R 1:19 KO) Mauricio Da Silva [ Brazil / Team TBC ] vs The Predator [ USA / UPW ] Winner: The Predator (1R 0:13 TKO) Jan [ South Africa / Steve`s Gym ] vs Masayuki Naruse [ Japan / New Japan Pro-Wrestling ] Winner: Masayuki Naruse (1R 4:40 ChokeSleeper) Kristof Midoux "The Phoenix" [ France / Le Banner X trem Team ] vs "Green Beret" Tom Howard [ USA / UPW ] Winner: Kristof Midoux (1R 4:21 Choke Sleeper)

  18. nutcases, all of you!!
  19. I think BJJ is a great system...but I'm gonna have to go with Treebranch. BJJ does not prepare you at all for more than a one on one situation. Nor does it make any claim to.
  20. One of em did. The other one (Green Beret?) got choked out. That predator guy looks like Rick Steiner...in the pic on the website, anyways.
