Dancing and Martial Arts
WolverineGuy replied to stl_karateka's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
I had to make a transition from karate to musical theatre...karate makes it very easy to pick up the moves, but very hard to look graceful...or like you're not trying to kill someone. Work one on one with someone, it will help. -
Ignorance amazes me...

*LMAO* Amazing, ain't it -
You two are so cute. Seriously...knock it off guys...arguing ain't gonna solve either issue. Krunchy was obviously offended, while Rich apparantly was misinformed. Guys, we're adults, and we're the ones that strive for self control. Let's show it. Now, who wants a cookie? (I'm not condecending, just trying to lighten the mood)

Yup, I rule. jk

Personally, I liked the second movie a great deal. The third was all right, but I would have preferred they spent more time IN the matrix. The last two seemed to attempt to get way too philosophical, and lacked the same feeling as the first movie, since the entire marketing concept was that nobody, including audiences and the characters, knew what exactly the matrix was.

"There is no spoon" - Matrix "Shortcuts are for pansies" - Brock Lesnar (pansies replaced Lesnar's more colorful choice of adjective).

Whats your favorite move?
WolverineGuy replied to blitzcraig's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
Anything grappling. As for my favorite move to watch...anything involving jumping/spinning/kicking. -
I've always looked to the eyes. The differences have been whether to step forward (in my okinawan dojo), or to keep both feet together.

In a sense, he's right. There's nothing complicated about losing weight. However...putting the not complicated theory into practice is a different story. Factors such as metabolism, willpower, and genetics (which sadly play a huge role) can seriously undermine even the best laid out diet.

Every thursday, we have our usual grappling class. I'm probably the number 2 grappler in the school (unless you count our master instructor, who by FAR outskills us). At any rate, I've been out for a few months due to having a baby. So, I go in for my first match in two or three months, and Ron (the number one grappler) steps in. Let me paint this picture for you. Ron has been there every day. This is my first day back. Ron is 6'2, 240lbs, solid muscle, and quick as a snake. I'm 5'10", 190 lbs...mostly muscle, though not as in shape as I was three months ago. So, Ron goes to grab me...and I rolled back, threw my leg over his head, and locked him in an armbar. Tapped in fifteen seconds. That was today's "I love me" story.

You could go the dance route and get shoe grips. They have an adhesive that sticks to the bottom of your shoes, and they provide pretty decent traction. Talk to the dance people at the studio.

No problem!

Amen to that! Bodybuilders tend to know more about what everything going into your body does to your body.

The first step for me was making eye contact with everyone. Oddly, its an amazing confidence booster when you're looking someone directly in the eye. When you look down, its like you're saying to the world "I'm not good enough to be talking." Confidence comes with time, but psyche yourself up for it! Good luck!

When I'm lifting, I try for at least one gram of protein per pound of bodyweight per day. I don't lower my carb intake, but you've gotta keep it to whole grain carbs...its the simple carbs that are bad. I'd reccomend https://www.bodybuilding.com. There's a wealth of information there, plus a forum if you have more questions.

Aiming to bounce or to go through?
WolverineGuy replied to YoungGrasshopper's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
What he said. -
That's exactly what it is. However, it's not all BAD...considering these are wrestlers and not musicians. However, John Cena does have some serious rapping skills. I'm curious as to what his solo album will sound like.

Wrestling and Jiu-jitsu?
WolverineGuy replied to BruceLee's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
I'm going to have to disagree with you. Most BJJ fighters are FAR too eager to fight out of the guard. I know that I'm guilty of it, and from what I've seen, most others are as well. Judo fighters seem to transition better into the sport than BJJ. both are going to have their drawbacks though, as the differences in fighting styles are more than subtle. -
ken shamrock vs kurt angle.
WolverineGuy replied to sano's topic in Pro Fighting Matches and Leagues
Shamrock is too past his prime...Angle is fantastic...should be a good match eitherway though -
