Didnt mean anything, just trying to tell you of something i read

Something I read regarding the belts awhile back: It was said that at the start of your karate training, you had the white belt to symbolize purity. Then through the ages, and changing of seasons, when spring came around, the flowers blooming, and grass growing would leave a green tinge on the Karateka's belt, then after more years of training , your belt would actually get so dirty, that it would turn Black! I found it interesting

How to get 6-pack Abs [for those interested]
hobz replied to BoxerScott's topic in Health and Fitness
In a case like this, as BoxerScott said, however long it takes to get results. However, if you are REALLY cutting for a bodybuidling competition, then you generally cut for 12 weeks, and this is 12 weeks of HELL Then again, the bodybuilders do take in low amounts of carbohydrates, and continue to workout, and need to have a low bodyfat percentage so they can look ripped. -
Carefull not to do to many leg raises! They develop the glutes ( I think?) and in the long run even though you are stronger, and skinnier, this makes you look fatter!

I disagree totally with not eating starch, I think starch is the best carb out there, and as long as you eat the ones wiht low GI.. you should be fine, whatever my 2 cents at least

6 days on 1 off ? You a professional body builder now? I couldn't offer you advice for dynamic training, but for weight training i sure can! What I'd suggest doing is, doing your lifting sets, with stretching in between, this promotes further muscle growth, and helps keep you flexible anyways. Anyways my workout is as follows: Monday - Biceps and Back Preacher Curls - 3 sets of 6-10 reps Dumb Bell Curls - 3 sets of 6-10 reps Wide Grip Lat Pulldowns - 4 sets of 8-12 reps Upright rows - 4 sets of 8-12 reps Kneeling Rows - 3 sets of 8-12 reps (You can also do Wide Grip Chinups instead of Pulldowns, and Close Grip Pull-ups instead of dumb bell curls) When training your back remember, it's a big muscle, so intensity IS required, do 10-16 sets for your back I'd suggest, and I found that 6 for my arms was fine. Stretching : Hanging from a bar will stretch your back, as for biceps, just flex inbetween sets Tuesday - Shoulders Front Dumbell Raises - 3 sets of 8-12 reps Side Dumbell Raises - 3 sets of 8-12 reps Military Press - 3 sets of 8-12 reps (I've included trap exercises in with your back, because they are part of the back) To stretch, do shoulder rotations. Remember your deltoids have 3 heads, Front, Side and back, so make sure to hit all 3. Thursday - Legs Full Squats - 4 sets of 8-12 reps Leg Extensions - 4 sets of 8-12 reps Hamstring Curls - 3 sets of 8-12 reps Leg Press - 3 sets of 8-12 reps Calf Exercises - This may seem crazy, but I did calf exercises in between ever set, and at the start and end of my workout, the reason for this is, your calfs are used to being worked hard, so they need a better shock to improve. To stretch do hurdlers stretches, put your feet against a wall while standing for calfs, and lift your leg up and stand on one leg for quads. Friday - Chest and Triceps Bench Press(no shit eh?) - 4 sets of 8-12 reps Laying Dumbell Flies - 4 sets of 8-12 reps French Presses - 4 sets of 8-12 reps Tricep Push downs - 4 sets of 8-12 reps I'd super set french presses followed by close grip benchpress(using an ez curl bar, you feel the burn believe me) Basis - Monday biceps, hoping they are well healed by Friday, and the deltoids also, nice and spread out with an 2 on 1 off, 2 on 2 off. I liked it at least

Disciplining your mind eh ? Basically, I think when they say its 80% mental they mean, never giving up and pushing yourself to them limit. Also maybe it's more of not saying "I can't do it" and more of "I have not yet learned how". To discipline it, i couldn't give you EXACT exercises, but work on the stuff mentioned above, having confidence, and a good attitude. Also, you could maybe start meditating, that might help to discipline your mind. my 2 cents anyways :\

When I asked my Sensei, what the "point" of karate was, he said to get rid of the person, then he brought up sport karate and this is how he described it: "Sport karate is nothing like real karate, in sport karate you go strictly for hits" He then went on with a demonstration of him punching me in the arm lightly "Point" He then kicked me lightly "Point, hey guys look i got a point" If this made no sense forget about it Anyways, my point is, the two are totally different.. karate is ment as a form of self defense against people who have no knowledge, and getting rid of them in any way possible least this is what i understand it as In sport karate, you are trying to hit the person as much as you can.

Well, I guess we'd have to call his Dojo then eh?

First off some stuff that might help you: -There is no replacement for water, wether its from juices or coffee or tea. You may get some water, but it's not the same as drinking it straight. -Water helps ALL nutrients get to where they are supposed to be, carbohydrates, protein etc.. - Soda does nothing but dehydrate you further so no point in drinking it. - I had this queezy feeling once or twice when i lifted weight too. I got it from being EXHAUSTED, make sure you eat enough carbohydrates.. (for me at 180 lbs it was 300 grams a day) -Then again, like I stated before, might have to do with your water intake. -If you really wanna give up on this... maybe karate isnt for you, im not trying to insult you, it's just one of the motos of Karate is NEVER give up, pushing yourself to the max. (Remember there's no set amount of pushups you need to do, but it will always be more then you CAN do.)

Drinking lots of water? Could be dehydration
