Breaks, strains, and tears.
hobz replied to judoguy's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
Well, one way of doing the calf crush is to basically take your shin, stick it on the meaty part of their calf, perpendicular to their leg. grab onto their shin on either side of your shin, and pull in and grind. -
rather then learn it as: We learnt it as, step forward with left, and to the right with right foot. It's a "step-step".

Anyone here a member of a dojo affiliated with Harris International? Just curious who out there is in this association as well! In the midst of a weekend seminar with Mr. Harris himself. He's a great teacher, and really goes in depth into everything. We've trained 5 hours, and so far we've only covered some cross mount controls, and some cross mount attacks.

He cheated though! The name of the title Clearly states to post a picture of your favorite Weapon not Vehicle with multiple Weapons!! Nope, sorry can't except it. Get it outta here!!

Why and How??
hobz replied to BJJShotoshe's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
Sounds to me like you have a confidence issue. Don't worry about winning so much. In tournaments you should go for winning. In class, work on your technique, and correct any mistakes you may have. Intelligence is a large part of fighting. -

Okay, so knocking someone out with a choke to show to your friends.. is not a smart thing to do. I wouldn't play with this stuff if I were you.You know that tingly feeling you have while you go out? Thats brain cells dieing.. -

So, I was curious how to increase my agility, speed and reactions for various Martial Arts reasons. And I came across the agility ladder. http://www.jumpusa.com/pladder.html?OVRAW=agility&OVKEY=agility&OVMTC=standard I've seen Hockey Players using this for their footwork, but don't know of its effectiveness. Is there anything special about it compared to just making my own? Is it worth spending time training with it? Thanks in advance.[/i]

Steven Seagal's coordination?

Isn't Jet Li a Martial Arts Champion or something like that? -
Well I mean if you consider Bruce Lee to be a Martial Artist you need to consider Boxing to be a Martial Art. JKD has the same ideas as Kickboxing / Muay Thai / Boxing ... of course correct me if I'm wrong. I don't mean they focus on the same thing, but you could put them all into the same classification. On the note of WC, anyone know how to make a Wing Chun Dummy at home? I'd love to have something to condition my forearms with for Karate.

Choices in a grapple....
hobz replied to hobz's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
I've been taking Brazilian JiuJitsu for 6 months or so now. The reason the guard is so hard for me to pass is, he just rolls his butt away from my leg I stick in between his butt. But I had one of the seniors do something to me before I want to try. It involved much pain and the grinding of the elbow in my thigh -
I got nothing for the rear naked choke, pretty much if he's locked it in you're screwed. All you can really do is try not to let him get his hooks in, and then use force to keep him from getting his arm tightly around your neck. As for the guillotine choke, I was told that to "get out of it" what you really need to do is just cause a stale mate. You just get up on the balls of your feet, and stick your butt really high in the air. It's worked for me.

And anyways, In a competition... nobody likes somebody who stalls right? My sensei was telling me about this one wrestler who would just put people in his guard as soon as he got enough points to be ahead, and he was big and tough and would just hold onto the guy and he couldnt get out. -
Thank you so much! I believe in order to become a better martial artist you also need to understand what how that happens (Improving your fitness 110% everyday).
