  1. Also I've been reading up quite a bit, which I believe everyone should do, about Stretching. And in the article that was in a Tae Kwon Do magazine by the author of Stretching Scientifically, he states that Dynamic Stretches should be done before static, and that you profit best from static stretches after your work-out. (Maybe I rewrote this wrong, Im trying to find where he said it and cant find it, if I did say it wrong please correct me). My question is: This work-out does he mean just your stretching routine or is he talking about when you go to your classes at the Dojo. If it is at the Dojo, what do you do if your teacher takes time after your warmup, and padwork etc, to practice katas ? Won't you cool down? Oy thats long, ty to all who read it
  2. I did not pick it due to the style though I basically, wanted to try something out, so I joined this one. Supposedly it's one of the top 6 traditional karate styles.
  3. 1. Whats all this talk about "Dynamic" and "Isometric" stretching? What do the two mean and how are they different. What's the Pros and Cons of each and the like ? 2. What are some goals, and fitness routines I should be following to get the best from my Karate, and to improve myself ?
  4. Hello! I recently signed up for Karate, and I want to be as traditional as possible. There for I want to start disciplining my mind and meditating. I'm wondering how I can learn about the two?
  5. I have recently signed up for GoJu Ryu here in my Town, and I have received my Gi. Now it's quite long, and Sensei said it would be long and I am just curious, how far should i hem the legs to? and the arms? Just dont wanna destroy it cause it was expensive
  6. Some of you talk as if you train to be able to Fight and Injure someone, I thought the whole idea was for self defense? not to go out and pick a fight with someone. Sport Karate, is in no way the same as Karate.
  7. So it completely ignores any achievement made before you become a legal adult? I agree, that is completly ridiculous, I am new to karate, but, those kids earned their belts, it's not like they stole them..
  8. Hey there, I'm a new student of GoJu Ryu in Cochrane, Alberta, Canada. I've been wanting to do martial arts since I was a young child, but my parents never had the money for it. I am now 16, and can afford to pay for it myself , starting a tad late! No worries though. Anyways just wanted to say hi! And if anyone could offer me some tips and ideas on how to get the most of my Karate Experience, It'd be apreciated. Ty!
