  1. I liked the movie 'Hidden Fortress' because I liked the story about the girl, that princess and how she had to play deaf. I loved her quote: 'You can make me play deaf but you can't deafen my heart!'. And I loved that song she sang in japanese. It sounded sad so I even started to cry! lol I haven't seen 'Yojimbo' and 'Ikiu' yet, but I will sit down one day and watch them. 'Sanjuro' was a really funny one! I was like laughing all the time! yeah...and I'm gonna watch 'Seven Samurai' now again just cheer myself up...
  2. lol, and I even found some more. http://mathieu.perrin.free.fr/mifune7.jpg http://mathieu.perrin.free.fr/mifune11.jpg http://mathieu.perrin.free.fr/kuro2.jpg http://mathieu.perrin.free.fr/mifune2.jpg http://www.blarg.net/~dr_z/Movie/Posters/Reproductions/Yojimbo_Rep.jpg http://www.edogawa-u.ac.jp/~robert/kurop18.jpg
  3. hey! I just actually found a pic from the movie 'Sanjuro', I thought I'll post it here. And the man with the sword you can see on the pic is Toshiro Mifune. http://mathieu.perrin.free.fr/sanjuro1.jpg
  4. Does anyone know about him and has anyone seen his films? I just had to say those films are the best MA films I've ever seen! I love it how humorous they are and the quotes the actors make. "Your face is shiny of fighting just like your sword, but the best sword stays still in its sheath". The main actor in his films is my favorite japanese actor, he's name is Toshiro Mifune and he was a very famous and talented actor in Japan. I love the fighting scenes - first very slow, just a look into your enemy's eyes and then a quick, fast attack and it's over. I'm sure a swordsman would enjoy Akira's films. 'Seven Samurai', 'Sanjuro' and 'The Hidden Fortress' are my three favorites, I bet at least someone here on this board has seen 'Seven Samurai', it is a pretty well-known film and if you haven't seen it yet you really should. It's in japanese and it's black and white, but it is done so well that it's almost incredible how old films can still be so good!
  5. yeah, that's exactly the problem. And you know what I did at school? I was holding my schoolbag in my hand. I went around in the classroom and in the coridor and looked for my bag while I was actually holding it in my hand, how the heck didn't I notice that?!!
  6. mentioning me? lol, I'm Estonian and a Swede btw.

  8. I am worth $1,708,630.00.

  10. okay....now guess what I did yesterday? I was really tired, cuz we had so many tests at school and so on... so when I was going to the Dojo, I put on two different boots of two different pairs (one was brown and hte other one was black) and I didn't even notice I didn't put on boots of the same pair...until I came into the Dojo and my Sensei started to laugh and asked me: is that a new fashion? And I looked down on my legs and saw that I was wearing one boot of one pair and another, totally different boot of another pair of boots! lol! god I'm so scatter-brained! and how the heck didn't I notice that I actually was wearing two different boots? I guess I was completely brain-washed that day, ohh geez...
  11. And my roots are originally in the cold Siberia where all ppl are almost freezing to ice during winter. But in summer, it's hotter than Estonia.
  12. if you never answer the questions you would keep on wondering like nuts.
  13. um..... James Bond! Yea! Not this black 'im so hot' Batman! My brother David was a fan of Batman and he dreamed of being a Batman. lol.. well, I'm not thinking he's stupid cuz I understand every guy has similar dreams.. but still, it's kinda funny. ohh I miss the good old James Bond movies. I used to watch them every friday with David, but when the 'advertisement time!' came on TV, I just fell asleep on the couch cuz it was so dead boring, lol. So that's why I don't remember half of the movies.
  14. okay. I'm going to see it tonight... preparing to cryyy!
  15. well yeah, swedish guys are pretty dumb sometimes. And later I found out that he only did that to be cool to me! aaargh! stupid!
  16. lol, my Sensei just said that there are no hidden things and secrets in karate.
  17. My instructor said that she keeps training kumite with her disciples and sends them to tournaments to keep them away from the fear. I don't know if that's right, but I think it should help. If you just keep being afraid and scared of getting hurt, you never get over your fears. You have to pratice sparring a lot and not leave it just there in the corner. The more you try and practice the more your fear will slowly begin to disappear or leave you alone. My friend once said: if you think too much of what punches or kicks you should do next against the opponent you won't defeat him/her, don't think of anything, just let your spirit and mind free and attack and block when your heart tells you so. I asked a kumiteka once if he's a bit afraid and he said that of course he is and that's why he is sparring, because he wants to get rid off being afraid of getting hurt. So I'm sure you'll do just fine. just think: I'm big! And imagine that your opponent is a little ant..
  18. yeah, same here, we never do that and we've never done that. Gosh I didn't even have this kind of idea to come to the Dojo in usual clothes and train like this!
  19. well, I think it depends on HOW you use karate as a self-defense..
  20. I've seen my brother practising kung-fu katas. All stances in those katas are low! But I've never heard that kung-fu ppl's legs or knees hurt! Shotokan karateka's use low stances too, but why do they complain about knee pain?
