  1. Well, there is a little difference. Don't you think that Wado-Ryus Shuto Uke and Shito-Ryus Shuto Uke are a bit different because of the stance and because of where the hand is when you do that block? In Shito-Ryu, Shuto Uke is a block, but you should do it as an attack, ...I haven't heard that in Wado-Ryu...
  2. By the way, don't forget that Karate and Philosophy must be in balance.
  3. ............... ......... HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, LOOOOOLLLLLLLL...... HAHHAHAHAHAHA. Yeah that story really is funny.
  4. And I still visit Minakami in Sweden
  5. Take it easy. I alwas respect everybody's opinions, you should too. Just go to Japan for a year and practise karate there, then come back here and tell us once again what Karate is.
  6. ops, sorry. I thought you do karate. It's a bit difficult to explain what Shuto Uke is, but it's a block with the hand while you have the cat stance.
  7. Hmmmm......... I don't really have any favourite technique.......but Shuto Uke works best for me and I guess it's my favourite one too. (I mean, the shito-ryu's shuto uke, not wado-ryu).
  8. The point is that the others who don't practise Karate don't know, that we say: Kiai. They think we say: hey-yah hayyaaaaaa... (lol)
  9. Oh.. ok I see. Thanks monkeygirl.
  10. Nice to meet you too, SaiFightsMS. ... I had no choice. It was my mum who decided to move to Estonia, because she is estonian and my grandparents live in Estonia. I wanted to stay in Sweden of course and continue in Minakami. But I couldn't decide, 'cause I'm just 14. (What a pity...) Anyway, now I'm here and actually, a woman Sensei is quite fun, she helps me with Hayashi-ha Shito-ryu and we are studying together the katas of that style to do them at the competitions. Now we have a shito-ryu organization in Estonia, made by my female Sensei and male Sempai. So, shito-ryu is in Estonia. I and my brother are the only ones here, who know and practise this style in Estona. But now, I taught the others also in Daigo some katas of Hayashi-ha Shito-ryu. Now they can do Rohai and Chi no Kata. My swedish Sensei from Minakami knows this. It's cool I'm glad that I can do this style now at the competitions. (and beat others, LOL) ...ok that was nasty...
  11. ....Oh and I like the breathing too in Seienchin, that's my style
  12. I also like the Crane stances in Rohai, I think that's why it's one of my favourite katas. ..Is Seienchin and Sanchin the same kata? Because, I was looking on a website Seienchin kata and when I clicked on it, it was written: Sanchin (???)
  13. thanks all. ...By the way, Flailing Limbs, it was very interesting to read about this "osu" thing We use to say it at my karateclub
  14. OSU! I'm new here and I just wanna know which club everyone here are practising. My club is: Karateclub Daigo And yours?
  15. HI ALL! ... Well, I lived in Sweden for 12 years and I practised Hayashi-ha Shito-ryu in Minakami Karateclub. My Sensei was a real Sensei, master and a man of course. But then, I had to move to Estonia. And Shito-ryu didn't exist in Estonia, so I had to start all over from white belt. (That was a pity). I chose Wado-Ryu. And the club: Karateclub Daigo. Only now I feel and see the big differences between different Senseis, styles and karateclubs. Still, my preferred club is Minakami and my preferred style is Shito-Ryu. But right now, in Daigo, my Sensei is a woman. And it's kinda different with a female Sensei. We are more like friends. But with a male Sensei, you don't talk about other things and so on... Not like with friends. And you are more quiet and you have a big respect, when the Sensei is a male. Of course, I love Daigo and so on.... But it's always, that the first style, the first Sensei and karateclub is more near the heart than the second one. My male Sensei used to say: "It doesn't matter what style you choose to practise and what club, the important is who the Sensei is, all depends on the Sensei." I agree with it. ... Oh I miss Minakami ...
  16. KATA IS A WASTE OF TIME???? Wait a minute. Seems like somebody here has understood something wrong in karate. KATA is the most important thing in karate. Without katas, karate would be boring and not so interesting. Guess why I started to practise karate.... Here's the answer: BECAUSE I WAS INTERESTED IN THE MOVEMENTS IN KARATE WHICH YOU ACTUALLY MOSTLY DO IN KATAS.
  17. Oh yeah, this kinda thing has happened to me thousand times Now I'm just quiet about my karate and noone bothers me with: HEEEEYAAAHHHH, HAYYYAAAAAAA, CHING-CHANG-CHONG and so on..... But of course, it's annoying and gets on the nerves. I'll tell you all my last story with this annoying situation. Someone stupid came to me and said: Hey, show me your: HEEEYAAAAHHHH.... And then he did some silly movements, so I said: Do you know what that movement is called? And then he said: WHAT?? Then I said: The chickens butt LOL
  18. I practised shito-ryu once. Now I practise wado-ryu but still (hayashi-ha) shito-ryu.
  19. I'm a wado karateka here, but also shito-ryu karateka Wado-ryu has a bit jujutsu in it and the founder was also a jujutsu master. Wado-ryu karate is not so artistic as shito-ryu or goju-ryu and not so effective as shotokan kata's, but it has it's own good ways also
  20. Orange belt with a green stripe in Wado-Ryu. White belt with a yellow stripe in Shito-Ryu. (I practised Shito-Ryu in Sweden, but then I had to move to Estonia and begin all over again, but with Wado-ryu, because Shito-Ryu didn't exist in Estoia, well, now it does, 'cause I brought it here LOL
  21. Hey Wado Guy. I practise Wado also and Shito-ryu too.
  22. My favoruite katas are: 1. Unshu (the Shito-Ryu version) 2. Rohai (the Shito-Ryu version) 3. Seienchin - I love this, because I can calm down while I do this kata and breath calmly. The movements are cool too. 4. Jion (the Wado-Ryu version) - Actually, this is the only kata I like in Wado-Ryu 5. Tensho - this is so cool! I love the changing hands there, it's really powerfull and quick. 6. Seipai - This is a bit like Seienchin. It's cool too. 7. Niseishi - I like the end of the kata. Ok. I think that's all. Osu!
  23. ...Well, in Wado-ryu, there are only 10 katas So, it's not so interesting with those few katas...
  24. Emm........ I've got a little problem here. Actually I'm an orange belt with a green stripe, but when I post something, then it shows that I am white belt. How can I change it to orange belt??
  25. Hi all! I'm new here. Well... I practise Wado-Ryu and Shito-Ryu. (I prefer Shito-Ryu). ok. I'm in a hurry here and I don't really have time to write, so... bye!
