Thanks for advice

That could be the million dollar question because this tactic varies more than one can even imagine. What I focus on depends on my range from my opponent. Therefore, I focus on no particular focal point on my opponent. That doesn't mean that I'm not paying attention; I am!! But whatever I focus on at any given time, I can see every part of my opponent, albeit, I will see both punches and kicks. CARDIO!! You've got to outlast your opponent, and if you run out of breath, you're not outlasting anything. Wasted movements drain a many of things. Study your opponent, study yourself, make a plan, then carry that plan out. Hopefully, your CI is teaching you how to breathe properly. YouTube. A ton of free video's. However, some video's covering your demands will not be worth watching. If it looks like a duck, it's a duck!! Trust your instincts wholeheartedly; that'll help your sparring and your video watching. Good luck; you'll be fine. Great advice as usual

Today was my second sparring session it was 4 rounds (2 x 1min punches only, 1 x 1.5min punches & kicks and 1 x 2min punches & kicks). This time was much more better than my first one My questions are: 1- Where to focus during sparring so you can see BOTH punches and kicks ?! 2- How to maintain or distribute your effort through out the whole 2 minutes ?, as what happened today is that I wasn't even able to breath after the first minute in the last 2 rounds and this affected my performance 3- Is there any suggestions for videos that teach or explain different tactics used in sparring ? Sorry for asking lot of questions

I agree with you that Kamikaze is a mindset and I think what's common with MAtsis is braveness, courage and persistence (from their point of view) but as you said you have to be the only one to control this mindset.

I wasn't able to watch your video link. remove the period at the end. I tried that, but I think the OP has to edit it out because the OP wasn't written by me. Still, thank you. Try this link ... it's working http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h85lwpfF-3w&feature=youtu.be

That's pretty good idea but the main problem will be the time zone ... Australia (2nd country see the sun) vs Canada (may be last country to see the sun) ... Some how I think you'd both work out the time zone thingy. After all, you're both MAists!! I guess we can Try it. Either it will be a great idea or it won't be. Good luck, let me know if it works out. Sure If it doesn't work out, you can always blame me!! No I won't

That's great advice .. Thank you It's actually not only the space that prevents me from practising kata but also the fear of doing one or more movements wrong and get used to the wrong technique which I guess will be very difficult to fix later, but in the dojo the instructor will monitor and * my technique so I will guarantee the right technique !!!! not sure if I am right or wrong ?!

you are my best friend in this forum as we have started our journey nearly at the same time and we are very close in many things in our practice ... nice to have someone sharing with me nearly the same experiences, feelings and thoughts from the other side of the world It IS great having someone at the same point in training. And very cool that you're on the other side of the world! I look forward to sharing more experiences. pretty enthusiastic to do it

Hi all, Currently I am attending only 1 class weekly due to my work shifts and I feel that's not enough !! so I want to do something at home trying to compensate being in the dojo only 1.5 hours a week. Now I am trying to do the following nearly everyday at home: 1- warm up & stretching for 5-10 minutes 2- 2 sets of push-ups (20-25 each) 3- 2 sets of crunches (40 each) 4- 2 sets of squats (30-40 each) 5- 1 set of lunges (20/leg) 6- 1 set of jack jumps (30) sometimes I practice the basic kicks, punches and blocks but not that frequent. I am trying to increase the count every week but is that enough ?! Any suggestions to add to my daily workout that might help?!! N.B: I can't practice Kata at home because I am living in a small unit (no space to practice kata).
