the age argument is really weak...like i said..i would rather base a stlye on how effective it's going to be for the first 60 years of my life..not the last 10 or so. -

Muay Thai vs Krav Maga
TJS replied to aznkarateboi's topic in Choosing a Martial Art, Comparing Styles, and Cross-Training
I like to fight in ring aswell to test my training. But the Fact remains groin kicks are part of KM sparring... yes..anybody can throw a punch or kick..even if they have zero training..that dosent mean someone who trains with them isint going to be a whole lot better at doing it. -
who uses a palm strike in a streetfight??? expalin why.

I would use open hand stikes to the head/side of the head..depending on the angle or how im punching...not because it's harder..but because i dont want to risk breaking my hand. -

Muay Thai vs Krav Maga

A) the groin is a Viable target in a real fight B) you should definetly get good at defending them. C) you should definetly get good at landing them on a resisting and live opponet. D) if you are good you are not going to get hit there all the time. E) You wear a Cup Krav Maga is not a sport, or a sport oriented stlye..it's a combative style. no, they are not allowed because they train for sport and It's not allowed in Kickboxing. The same reason he would punch them in the head or kick them in the leg...because it's a target. -
Start out in small shows and work your way up...helps if you find a school or teacher who has produced some big name fighters.

I agree...many arts foucsed on other aspects to the extent that the actual ability to fight was lost.

the infamous old age excuse...Didint he ask whitch is better for self defense..so what defines that should be the last 20 years of your life? not the first 50? I have seen 70 years old KM guys throw down in full contact sparring and do it very well. -

TJS replied to Wing Chun's topic in MMA, Muay Thai, Kickboxing, Boxing, and Competitive Fighting

Krav Maga Is know for being based in Instinctive reactions so it will work under stress...I think The biggest advantage Of KM woudl show when someone was put under stress or scared for their life...alot of techniques work in a school..alot less work in the heat of the moment. -
Here Is a link to an Offical military Combatives Page..Check it out, it's got some great pictures. Obviously they are doing BJJ.. http://www.adtdl.army.mil/cgi-bin/atdl.dll/fm/3-25.150/toc.htm Here is another great picture..It's of a US special Forces anti terror unit holding a Krav Maga Force Training division Shirt over Saddam in Baghdad

The Militarty trains in a variety of things..our miliatary uses a mix of BJJ, Muay Thai and TKD I belive..atleast thats what I hear alot. The Israeli Defense force Trains in Krav Maga and so do a Few elite US special Forces..including the Delta Force. I honestly Belive Krav Maga Is proabably the Best Choice For the Military.

thugtkd..there are so many flaws in your statment i dont know where to begin...alot Of BJJ'ers may bash TKD but Why put it all on them? alot of other people point out things about TKD Many people Think critisizm is "bashing" TKD can be alot of things but generally it is not one of the more effective self defense stlyes...and there are several reasons for that.
