Who can realy fight...?
TJS replied to yireses's topic in Kung Fu, JKD, Wing Chun, Tai Chi, and Chinese Martial Arts
i wish everyone would realize that most ma/action actors are not top level fighters in the real world... Oleg Taktarov Tito Ortiz Chuck Liddel Bas Rutten chuck norris Bruce lee are a few that come to mind that could actually throw down. -
Royce Gracie at the street?
TJS replied to Anzie's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
what is your point? the point is Royce can and has proven that he can beat people of all difrent sizes, shapes, and formes..including trained fighters. -
I personally dont think WTF rules TKD sparring translates into self defense or real fighting very well at all.

Royce Gracie at the street?

everyone knows Royce gracie would take you down and break your arms...thats dosent mean you would be able to do anything about it. -
Whats the difference between BJJ and JJ
TJS replied to hobz's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
just out of curiosity why do you think TJJ hasant had 1% of the succes BJJ has in NHB fighting? -
Stupid Black Belt Magazine Adds!!
TJS replied to Ironberg's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
the only israeli add's I see in there are for Krav maga and mike Karnaks system..both are very legit. -
karate does alot of times lack ranges of a fight..like you said you are used to fighting with distance. Most people are not used to people just rushing them wildly and throwing haymaker punches and trying to clinch/tackle them. so try talking to you instructor about doing some clinch fighting and ground fighting if you are concerened..they are definetly areas that should not be ignored.

Top ten TMA
TJS replied to Radok's topic in Choosing a Martial Art, Comparing Styles, and Cross-Training
no they would both get smashed up against the cage and beaten bloody...they are great actors and very cool guys...they are not top quality NHB fighters..end of story. -
really, what mma/nhb events have you competed and won in? Name ONE succesful Kung fu fighter in The last 5 years in a mixed event like UFC,Pride, K-1...dont bother trying because you wont find any..what conisidence....you beat all these "mma" fighters yet kung fu has never been able to produce a single world class fighter.

TJS replied to Radok's topic in Choosing a Martial Art, Comparing Styles, and Cross-Training
so you think that Jet li/Jackie Chan could win in todays NHB/MMA world? -
so Kung Fu huge foucus on takedowns defenses would help them more against wrestlers and Grapplers on hard surface??...the fact is the Mat favors the one getting taken down and unless you are a grappler thats going to be you getting slammed on you head. Look back 5-10 years ago...there were 2 rules..no biting and no eye gouging..Kung Fu had no more succes then than it does now. see above..Kung fu never had any succes in the early UFC's...oh wait thats because they couldent bite go challenge a few fighters to a no rules match...and prove them wrong instead of talking.. Ever heard of the Gracie challenge...you know the guys who have actually been fighting no rules matches the last 50 years ..where are all the masters to take them up on the challenge and beat them?

Top ten TMA
TJS replied to Radok's topic in Choosing a Martial Art, Comparing Styles, and Cross-Training
Yes..they are..simple as that..if there was peopel out there who could beat them they would do so...why not make a quick 150k every month if they can. This is the part where you tell me about all of the secret monks, ninjas, masters etc who are either A) too deadly to compete in the ring B)have no desire to compete C) it's against their "beliefs" to do such things. lets no make sweeping generalizations or anything... Do you really consider jet li and jackie chan great fighters? sure i like their movies as much as the next but to think they would do anything other than get beaten bloody against todays fighters is VERY Naive. Btw Chuck Norris has belt in BJJ and has made comments on how he respects that the most because of what it takes to get one. -
thats why you need to spar with punches to the head..because they first time you get clocked in the nose you are going to be in a whole new world. as much as you practice you are still going to be in for a wake up call once you get hit.
-
Do you have any idea how long he's been practicing it? Do you know what dojang he belongs to? I'll ask him today if I see him at work. but honestly I have no idea.
-
lol...

I wasant trying to prove my "art" was superior to anything because.. A) I was doing it for fun. B) i was doing it for the experience of sparring with another stlye..whitch is always good because it exposes yout o new things.
-

Grapplers who grapple
TJS replied to Thuggish's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
Wrestling can be very devestating on the street because Takedowns mean alot on a hard surface..and wrestlers are very good at it however If i had to pick one it would be BJJ...another thing to consider is how good wrestlers are at staying on their feet. BJJ+wrestling is a great combo. -
kung fu and krav maga
TJS replied to robodjs's topic in Choosing a Martial Art, Comparing Styles, and Cross-Training
exactly..thats why i hate it when people bring the age factor in...like i said I have seen plenty of older guys throw down. -
Hey guys got a few quick questions i was hoping you could help me out with. A) how do they teach you to defend leg kicks in KSW? B) what about basic straight punches? Thanks Guys. (sparring with a KSW friend tonight )
