  1. risky...the only time i would use it is if i was comming around from a missed round kick or something.
  2. kicking with the shin/instep is more effective. thats my prefered way. if you got kicked by a Muay thai stlye roundkick with the shin you might rethink your opinion on whitch is more effective.
  3. yes
  4. and the beast is no where near the level of Coleman, Kerr, Couture, etc.
  5. he got submitted by Ken Shamrock 2 times before he started training submissions. Royce Choked ken out in 40 seconds...
  6. dave benataue is a descent wrestler...but nothing compared to many of todays top guys...
  7. pure grappling vs pure striking ...grappling is more effective. Im a Striker though...sprawl and brawl

    angles

angles are very important...fighting someone who is good at working angles is a diffrent ball game...this is also one of the first things i worked on in fight class.
  9. im sure every fighter after UFC 1 trained "anti-grappling" that dosent always mean alot against someone who has done grappling for 20 years.
  10. yea...they look suprisingly similar..i could not belive it when i found out they were not blood.
  11. Here is an actual fight with a WC practicioner vs a Wrestler, as compared to a wrist grabbing demonstation. Only this wrestler is far from being "world class" enjoy. http://www.bullshido.us/dl_goto.asp?id=99
  12. i would rather have my strong point and be well rounded in other areas...thats the best type of fighter.
  13. what pworld are you in again?
  14. watch pride grad prix and yo may just get your wish..whatever gracie competes in it is going to have some tough competition.
  15. he said he is going to beat them all up.
  16. If you fight full contact fights 5 times a week then your body wont last long...end of story...the whole "old age" excuse about MT gets way overused. anyone who fights that much is going to have problems. the same would be true to any stlye if it's true to MT.
  17. Shotokan is Tournament oriented? I dont recall seeing many Shotokan fighters around and i usually hear the opposite.
  18. you made a good choice..Kyokushin is the real deal and will make you tough. Good luck with your training!
  19. exactly..sprawl and then work from there. to many people belive they can stop someone with strikes before they close the distance...very unlikely.
  20. it's an analogy...a TKD kick is for speed and snap. A MT kick is designed for power..it just so happens it feel like getting hit with a bat at 60mph
  21. if he was a world champion wrestler then it would be unlikely the WC guy could avoid a double leg takedown.
  22. because Savate does not have huge succes in mixed events like MT does. you see alot of "savate" champions but thats usually MT fighters that enter savate competitions and rack up some wins
  23. the thing is OC spray is the best MA style out there and they wont hesitate to use it Usually attacking a cop is a bad thing since the carry batons, pistols, tazers etc and they take it pretty seriously.
  24. I understand what you're saying, and you point makes sense. However, in KSW a large part of my defense are grabbing techniques. If I can't have normal use of my hand, I cant practice what I would do "for real". yes thats a valid point and one of the drawbacks of gloves..thats why it so hard to train "mma" stlye with heavy contact. usually you have to break up the striking and grappling. but thats why i said you shoudl both both types of sparring
  25. lol that was obviously a demonstation.. that "world champion wrestler" would have double leg him and slamed his head on the concrete in a real fight in stead of Grabbing his wrists...
