REAL Wing Chun vs Wrestling video.

he didint attempt to sprawl..I highly doubt WC teaches you to sprawl whitch is the most basic defense to a double leg takedown...but maybe im wrong. -
BJJ and Multiple Opponents
TJS replied to ValeTudo's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
great article, altough Striking is most important tool against multiple opponets grappling is usually a neccesary tool..people sometimes for get how much damage a throw can do on a hard surface? Valetudo-where do you train in Austin? -

TJS replied to StoneSkin's topic in MMA, Muay Thai, Kickboxing, Boxing, and Competitive Fighting
Every Sumo Wrestler that fought in the early UFC's and Pride got owned. Emanuel Yarborogh, Koji Kitao, etc...all got hurt pretty bad by strikes. Sumo has never had succes NHB fighting. -

where did i say i was judging those stlyes? where did I say that video proved Wrestling was better than WC? go ahead and quote me..have fun. how bout this...find me a video of a WC fighter beating know wrestler. you wont. because most standup fighters will loose to a wrestler by GNP. Thats why you see Guys like Dan severn, Mark coleman , Mark kerr etc come thru and smatch thru talented fighters with ease. WC does not train you to realisticaly defend serious takedowns for the most part..most still talk about how they would KO them before they go to them the fact is is a good wrestelr wants you on the ground you will proabably end up there..combine that with the general lack of Ground fighting and you are in trouble. -
Karate + Muay Thai
TJS replied to WhiteBelt's topic in MMA, Muay Thai, Kickboxing, Boxing, and Competitive Fighting
you think no one else in the world ever thought to hit someone with their elbow? sure most stlye have seen the succes MT has and has started to use some techniques...but saying they "stole" it is a little far fetched..you cant put a claim on a technique like an elbow. Bobbing and weaving IS alot more dangerous in Muay Thai, the risk of eating a knee to the head is alot more relevant. boxers dont have to worry about knees. -
I know you didint ask for it but since you are considering both here is some info on Kyokushin... https://www.kyokushinmail.com dont have a good link of shotokan ..sorry.

Karate + Muay Thai
TJS replied to WhiteBelt's topic in MMA, Muay Thai, Kickboxing, Boxing, and Competitive Fighting
I disagree, alot of people combine it with boxing, Kail, escrima, Krav Maga, etc. all have something to offer it aswell/ -
thats correct, i agree with all of your opinions. Both would work effectivly, me personally i wouldnt want to do a round kick and hit with the shin, beacuse i watched this one kick boxing fight and he did a round kick to the legs with the shin, and the guy blocked it with his leg and he busted his shin right in half. so to me id much rather kick with the ball of my foot or instep. whatever works at the moment ill use it. that shin break was a freak example..it happens 1 out of 100000. the resason you use your foot is because you proabably dont use leg kicks? Do you spar with leg kicks? If you did you would proabably start ussing your shin.

kung fu vs kickboxing
TJS replied to aznkarateboi's topic in Choosing a Martial Art, Comparing Styles, and Cross-Training
kickboxing is a big word...it can mean alot of things..you would have to narrow it down. -
Shotokan-have you ever fought in a full contact match? one that allows things like punches to the face/head, leg kicks, etc? or have you fought in point sparring karate matches?
-
You really wouldent...have you ever even fough before? has has been fighting Full contact bouts for over 10 years in everything from Muay thai to NHB. thats correct. if anything i can think of more TKD practicioners who have fought in NHB/K-1 etc.

I did he droped into a classic WC stance and tried to trap a double leg takedow -
A TKD friend of mine broke a rib or two of a shotokan black belt in a sparring match a while back I have not seen Shotokan have more succes than TKD has.

grappler vs standup fighter very good!
TJS replied to kle1n's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
try actually watching the video..it's of two cats. -
it would also depend ...you have to rely on your instincts...and you have to think if you have family/loved ones etc that you have to protect.
-
yes..for certain angles/kicks the ball of the foot is more useful...but i think overall shin kicks are alot more devestating.
-
the female terminator in T3 trained in Krav Maga for the movie
-
then why does every top kickboxer in the world kick with their shin?
