  1. I was just wondering when was the last time you got into a fight and how did it turnout?
  2. I advice everyone not to get a tatoo until they are at least twenty. The reason is that your probably not done growing. I have a friend who got a tasmanian devil on his back when he was 14. A year later he was six inches taller and his tatoo was all streched out and ugly.
  3. Checking is legal, tripping is legal and you can kick whomever has the ball(roundhouse only and not to the face). The hard part is playing outside and barefoot in November.
  4. I own a weight bench and all the accesories and it is a great way work a specific muscle group. However I think nothing beats a plain old pushup. If you do want to add some muscle then diet is important. I like to eat alot of chicken and plenty of fruit.
  5. My Dojo is alot like DarkMonkey's. The training is varied yet tough and our Sensei is a joker yet a hardass. I guess the only difference is the people. Were all pretty close and were always joshing each other. One of my favorite parts is after working us hard for a few weeks sensei rewards us with "Karate Soccer". It is like reguler soccer but with alot more blood.
  6. Block parties rock!!! There cool since you don't no anyone when you go. The last one I was at I ended up sitting in the middle of the street at 3am finishing off a case of Molson with four people I had never met before. :bigwink:
  7. Hi Rocko An easy way to add speed and height on roundhouse and most spinning kicks is to rotate your torso just a bit and let that momentum go into your leg. Other then that practise makes perfect. Just keep at it.
  8. My first and only tournament was last December. I was a blue(fifth of six colored belts) fighting in the 14-16 year old category and the 155-170 weight class. I stepped on the mat for my first round match, bowed to everyone and got ready to fight. Just after the match begun I swung a roundhouse into the pads around my opponent's gut and he collapsed! Apparently I knocked the wind out of him and he didn't want to continue. I thought I was moving to the second round when one of the tournament heads approached me. He said that I was being kicked out for deliberatly injuring someone. My Sensei argued with him for a few minutes but it was useless. I think this is just another example of the softening of Martial Arts that will only give us serious students a bad name.
  9. Hey Taezee If you want something that will take a few years off your life try a Poutine. It is frenchfries, cheese curds and a thick gravy. If you want to kill yourself right on the spot then order a smokemeat sandwich on the side......YUM
  10. Nunchacu are look real good but in a fight they are not practicle and defence is almost impossible.
  11. Thanks RushMan
  12. I know here in Montreal there are several bars where you can go have a few drinks and then step into the ring. The fights are refereed and everything is permited except shots to the groin and eyes. Anyone can fight providing they sign a waivor. A few guys have been sent to the emergency room but for the most part no one gets hurt to bad. As for the police there is no law against it so they can't do anything.
  13. Canadiens And the Leafs can burn in Hell!!!!
  14. I prefer Dragon but my Sensei has decided I am a Mule. To dumb to feel pain and a kick that can send any one flying.
  15. Before I read your posts I had no idea how comercial the Martial Arts have become I now know how lucky I am at my dojo (10$ a month for upkeep and rent plus no charge for a belt test). On the subject of belts they are good if they actually reflect the progress of someone in both style and fighting ability. I am proud to sat that belts are difficult to obtain where I train. In fact the failure rate is about 60%
  16. I got to sat Tonfas. There great on defence and when attacking. I think a pair where the wooden shaft is replaced with a blade would be incredible
