  1. 09/12 30 min takedown work Worked on holding mount and escaping mount guard passes 30 min freeroll
  2. Good stuff, I have always enjoyed Mr. Howe's instructionals. IMHO front sight picture, trigger squeeze, trigger reset, and the will to stop the threat go a long way in winning a gun fight.
  3. 9/10 Sticky hands into clinch Knife defense, focused on parry and expel to sidearm retention. 15 min boxing sparring.
  4. Good stuff. This is were i think hard sparring to exhaustion comes in. It is only when you are extremely tired and getting the crap kicked out of you that you can get a good fear response in a controlled setting.
  5. VERY!!! Focus pads will help you put together combinations and sparring will get you used to the idea of getting hit. Learning how to fight is a long process if it is to be done well. Focused sparring can be a great tool if it is done right. Blindly swinging hooks at each other has its place, you just don't learn much from doing it.
  6. When you get a chance, get with me and we will figure out what type of handgun will best suit you. Will be fun to get you out shooting.

  8. 9/3 Heavy Bag Shoulders 10 minute freespar for warmup Knife attack and defend
  9. 09/02 60 minute freeroll
  10. 6/10-8/30 480 hour course of basic police training. Greatest experience that i never want to do ever again.
  11. Bill, thought you should know that my duty light has a strobe feature. Will play here in a couple of weeks.
  12. 8/18 Drilled escaping closed guard, half guard, 1/4 guard, and deep half guard. Also drilled pressure from the top.
  13. I just said that it was nice to meet a a fellow Eastern Illinois University graduate. He asked me what years i attended, we also knew a few of the same people from Hillsboro.
  14. So i was hanging out at a local eatery in Springfield IL on wednesday night, and as i walked into the mens room i noticed Mr. Hughes washing his hands at the sink. I couldn't help but say something, we talked for about five minutes, he was a super nice guy and a great representative of his sport.
  15. 8/11 90 minute freeroll, trying to get the rust knocked off.
  16. No, not really. A sheepdog that looks at the sheep with contempt/as tasty won't last long. At some point that inner voice wins out and they try a bite of sheep. At which time the owner puts them down, ie. the bad cop is put through the criminal justice system just like any other criminal, sometimes facing harsher sentencing. The sheepdog is at worst, neutral toward the sheep. They have a job and that job is protecting the sheep, that's their deepest instinct. In the fabric of their being they are protectors who are usually friends with the sheep even if they have to bark at them for their own good now and again. Well said.
  17. Breaking their finger, maybe they keep fighting. Splitting their hand in two and making them be known as LOBSTERBOY the rest of their days, i will say yes.
  18. It seems to me that many people fall into somewhat of a grey area when it comes to this classification. There is a big difference between being capable of violence and being willing to commit violence. Im really not sure which of these categories i belong to. If the question is: Am i will in commit acts of brutal violence to protect my loved ones, then the answer is yes. Now as an LEO i am being asked to possibly commit acts of violence to protect the safety and well being of perfect strangers. This is were the term "sheepdog" comes to light. I assume the sheepdog doesn't like the sheep, hell he probably thinks they look just as tasty as the wolves do. But the sheepdog has been trained to carry out a task, and his training overrides his basic animal instincts.
  19. Since starting training for law enforcement i have started to buy in to the idea that Colonel Grossman has that people are generally broken up into three groups. Sheep-People that are productive and good members of society, but are not capable of violence. Wolves-Criminal, dirtbags, and other sociopaths that feed off the sheep. Sheepdogs-Good productive citizens that are capable of violence in the capacity necesary to protect the sheep. I believe that this may be a bit over-simplified but im started to agree with this basic concept. As martial artists we mostly fall into the category of sheepdogs, any one out there have any thoughts that would expound on this theory or more categories that people may fall in????
  20. I would totally watch this, I would vote for somebody like Paul Vunak to host just because of his intensity and interesting view on a wide variety of subjects.
  21. 7/21 Various grappling, boxing, clinching and other beatings with Tallgeese and MasterPain at a mini Bujin Clan gathering. Had a Blast!!!
  22. No worries, yes wind can be a factor, also your distance from the subject. It is recommended that you deploy it from 12-15 feet away, but depending on the situation this may not be possible. If your to close to the subject there is a risk of splashback. One must also consider the possibility of there being other LEO's on scene that may be contaminated when it is deployed. You also don't have to get the stuff directly in your eyes for it to put a hurtin on you.
  23. What they don't show on camera is everybody coughing and wheezing for 30 minutes after they take down the guy who didn't show up to alimony court.
  24. I can't listen to The Trooper without wanting to murder zombies. Also Bruce Dickensons Pants in the video are the most over the top thing ive ever seen.
