Hello and Welcome to KF.

Yeah, I'm really tired of the repeats too. They say that the ones they're showing are being shown for a reason. To help understand up coming episodes and such. I just wish they would get on with the new shows. Reading some stuff about the new ones, it sounds like they will be some entertaining ones.

Not sure when it starts in England but I have heard that Channel 4 is supposed to announce their line up in March. Maybe that will give you an answer. I've looked around and have heard everything from it starting in March to June. Sorry I couldn't be any more help. Yeah, re-runs are for the birds! This week looks like it's going to be a good episode. Claire remembering what happened to her and another hatch discovered. I can't wait.

Traditional Technique Vs. What works best for you
gheinisch replied to marie curie's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
I agree with the others here. Our Hanshi shows us how he was taught, which was in a very traditional school and have us do it that way, however I sometimes end up doing some of the techniques a little bit different. Not on purpose, just because it's what comes more naturally too me. He doesn't get mad at me but will ask me way I'm doing it that way and explain way it feels better for me. We look at the advantages and disadvantages of both ways and he usually will say if it works for you then go with it. Sometimes he will say that no that is wrong and here's why, and I'll make the adjustment. There's not a right way and a wrong way to do something. Maybe a better way though. -
Here's a post from a LOST forum from someone who has done some research. Very interesting. The links are good. One is a screen shot from the show. He posted the following: I decided to just start flipping through the S section of my Middle Egyptian dictionary and I found it! it means "CAUSE TO DIE" the missing letter is a W, a quail chick (sometimes abbreviated by a swirl) i'll post a scan of my dictionary soon here's the word I found http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e183/Alyson3783/hieroglyphs.jpg here's the screen shot http://homepage.mac.com/awaspaas/.Pictures/lost.jpg and 'to cause to die' means 'to kill' i don't remember my tenses too well, but i think in this infinitive form it could also mean "killing" here's the bibliographic ref on page 19: http://forums.go.com/abc/oceanic/thread?start=90&threadID=859408 here's my explanation from page 21 of this thread: http://forums.go.com/abc/oceanic/thread?start=100&threadID=859408

Well in last nights episode they did show that Hurley had a secret stash of food. He was working on what looked like a three gallon jug of Ranch dressing. Last night s episode was very good. Did anyone notice that the soldier was Kate's step dad. Also the count down clock finally reached zero, for a couple of seconds any way. The symbols that popped up are Hieroglyphs that translates into cause of death. Hmmmm...

Hello Mary and welcome to KF. Your English is much better than my Italian.

Big 24 fan here! How about Curtis in your list of characters? He seems to be taking Tony's role as the "don't worry Jack, I've got your back".

LOST is awesome! I think Kate is right about Sawyer. He's not happy unless eveybody hates him. I think he accomplished that with the last episode. And Charlie, Locke will kill him if he ever finds out what he did. Can't what until the next one. It looks like they catch one of the others and Sayid gets to practice his torturing techniques on him.

This is the way kata is explained in the style that I practice. I agree with it. Some love it, some hate it. I think that with out kata much is lost in the mere learning of techniques. The Katas of Hon-Shin-Do are the essence of karate, without them karate would be the mere learning of various fighting and self-defense techniques, expressing nothing and allowing for no aesthetic development. Katas are the distilled concentrated wisdom, understanding, and experience of hundreds of great karateka's peak awareness. When one begins to understand them one glimpses a new world of untold internal riches. The primary meaning of the Kata is for the performer himself. If he is unable to immerse himself in the Kata and so release his emotions, or life force, a master will say of the performer that he is still "in the dance," that is, unable to emote or express his feelings at will. This poignant karate saying has an even more profound meaning when the sensei refers to a student "coming out of the dance." This is the highest compliment one can receive. The eventual perfection of the Katas leads not only to mastery of the basic forms, but also to physical and spiritual sensitivity and to complete control of all parts of the body. A good karateka first develops his Katas to perfection and later perfects his Jul-Kumite (sparring) ability.

Welcome to the forums. You can't search by style but we do offer different forums for different styles i.e. Okinawan/Japanese, Chinese, grappling, weapons etc. This may help you find some posters with your same tendencies. Hope this helps. -
Welcome. I started karate with my son as well. A good time to bond and to get to know each other a little better.
