  1. Yes, some would practise with 2 egg on shoulders. Forget something. If making extremely general divide between Southern and Northern part. Most of southern Kung Fu use more hand skill with lower stance and Low kick. (Like Hung Gar, Wing Chun, Choy Li Fu and etc) While most northern Kung Fu use more high kicking with high stance. In Southern part of China, more river and ports. Struggle for interest was keen near Pier. Hence, balance is most important to avoid falling into water. Sometime even need to fight on boat. Riding Lamb stance is Wing Chun is extremely good under this situation. Moreover, southern city comparately has more narrow lanes and more crowded people than northern part. Low stance, more hand technique.
  2. Hi, TJS I am also doing some free-fighting with my friend constantly. Agreed that light sparring would lower people's sense to block. We would usually start without glove but with body shield. No punch to head. I train my blocking and capture-skill. And wear 12 oz, we train our blocking to straight punch and hook.
  3. No predenotation? Yeah, I understand what you said In common situation, if you deliver right high side kick, you can notice your left shoulder draw backward. Shadowless kick started with a posture that your whole front body facing the opponent. Usually with strong balance on your lower part. Hear from my sifu, some people would practise this kick by placing 2 bowl of water on shoulder. When you kick, any sinking or raising of body would make the bowls fall. Same case, drawing backward of shoulder would make the same result. Repeatly practise can make opponent cant witness your kicking intention. This is only reference. Hope this help. Bowl of water just a tool and don't stick to this.
  4. I love boxing. Simple 1 - 2 punches can already be very effective in real combat. But if a boxer want to fight without glove. He should train the hardiness of fist (Even Mike Tyson broke his fist when throwing punch) What more is to tackle kick, knee or throw. In real fight, we would not just clinch and wait for a break. Even if you are in ring, there are some fights between Sanda and Boxing from 1998 - 2000 USA and China (Surely, the boxer may not be the best while Sanda fighters are the best in China) In those competition, boxer are usually block by a side kick or throw on the ground.
  5. Shadowless Kick is one of the famous technique of Hung Gar and Master Wong Fei Hung. Dfferent from what you seen in movie "Once upon the time" starred by Jet Li. But nothing special, just to throw a strike by hand to draw other people attention and do a groin kick. I am not quiet understand your saying of combining Karate and Chinese MA???
  6. From 1911-1949, Qing dynasty decline and the Republic of China set up. Martial artist from different schools and style started to find a way to promote traditional Kung Fu. But that was always not a easy way because different style has this characteristic. Monky style Kung Fu is different from Eagle Boxing. Hence, some great masters gathered together to pick out some form which they thought is useful. Among them, "Chin Wu Ten Form" is some of these Kung Fu form being selected. This included Boxing form and Weapon form This is still basic training form for Chin Wu Association around the world. This usually happen in the Northern part of China. Meanwhile, in Nanjing, one of the most important port also set up the Central Kung Fu Stadium (This translation may be wrong) in 1928 under Central government. They started to standardize some form to be "Long Fist", "Long spear", "Sword play". These form usually select from some traditional Chinese Kung Fu style. This divided into Shaolin department and Wudan department, Different southern Kung Fu masters from Hung gar, Choy Li Fut and other more also simplified and gather the hand-technique to form some "new Nanquan". The word, "Nan" mean south. Before this period, all these new composed Chinese Kung Fu still emphasize on combat skill. However, after 1949, the Communist party became the ruling party. Of course, many Kung Fu masters fled to Taiwan, South East Asia, Hong Kong or USA for political reason or etc. Kung Fu do not affect much because many still stayed. Nonetheless, from 1966 to 1976, the Cutural Revolution, Kung Fu and related stuff were accused of "old culture". Many Kung Fu masters were insulted or killed. Within these 10 years, no one can openly practise Kung Fu. You can say this is a Dark Age for Kung Fu. Until 1984, the Communist government restarted its concern on Kung Fu. This started by doing 3 ways, no matter right or wrong. 1) Started to dig up some traditional Kung Fu form by giving money for master who gave out their Kung Fu form. Many books were printed out. 2) Simplified and standardized Kung Fu and using a word, "Wushu" to clarify from Kung Fu. All these simplified and standardized of Kung Fu. Like "Long Fist" took out some movement of "Wa Fist", one of the Northern style Kung Fu. But adding in many jumping stuff. To be frank, all these stuffs usually ignored the way of "Fa ji" or sense of combat. Just easy for judge to give mark for Form-demonstration competition. All the compulsory style is in this style. Not to insult anyone, these form is good for basic training but not for fighting. 3) Sanda - Chinese way of free fighting composed of punching, kicking, throw. In 1984, people need to wear shelter, and no 1-2 punch or hard blow to head at that time.
  7. hi, everybody. Yeah, Indeed, the word only to mean only a black person. Anyway, I would be sorry if anyone has hard feeling. By the way, nice to meet everybody here.
  8. Agreed with JMD161. Being a Hong Kong Chinese, I have many chance to travel in and out to the Mainland. But never think of going to Shaolin for learning Kung Fu I would say usually the Shaolin temple is now short course to earn foreign currency, for example, 2 weeks course for 3 Shaolin basic boxing and 2 weapon form. Price is usually about HK$ 1600 (USD$ 200) While in general, monthly fee for coaching in Hong Kong is just HK$ 400 (USD$ 50) Maybe somebody would say Shaolin Kung Fu in China worth better. But this is not obviously the case. Even worse, some Shaolin schools in China teaches your "newly composed modern Shaolin Kungfu" something like "Modern wushu". That is a guy who are jumping here and rolling there, but ignoring the combat skill.
  9. Hi, everybody. Between 1998 - 2000, there are competition between Chinese Sanda and Boxing. I remember 1999 event was held in USA. In the game Boxing can use only punch and counter throw while Sanda can use punch, kick & throw Does anybody know about the organization of USA side? Surely, I think they are not WBA, WBC or IBF. Who are they??? I was impressed a lot by a guy called Louis Wood. 3 win 3 year by using only punching and counter throw. Does anyone know about his background??? Thanks in advance.
  10. Mantis Warrior Time of applying this style and the result, please. Yeah, also where you did this in ring or sparring. Thanks!
  11. Does anyone try to cut bamboo stick or bamboo curtain roll with their weapon??? Any technique???
  12. So have you played Street Fighter. Andrew Green Kicking of that way is like Chun Li. When she knee down, press Middle kick.... Does that kicking work???
  13. So superleeds. What kata you do, Chinese way or Japanese way or etc??? Hi, everybody. Yestersday I just do sparring with rattan round shield and short Chinese sword and fight with my friend holding Broad blade (western one)
  14. Hey, everybody. Have you guy ever tried to use Chinese Kung Fu Low Kicking in real fight or sparring? Someone may call this "Leaf sweeping kick" that is with front leg knee down, 2 hand place on ground to have balance and back leg sweep around 180 degree Can anyone tell me about their experience???
  15. So my Chinese Kung Fu teacher told me before Hey,kiddo you can take a squash racket, short umbrella as Chinese blade if being attacked and also without acting against the law.
  16. So Thank you all buddies. I would take your advice and try that when sparring
  17. Hi everybody! So what do you think about Cong Le in USA K-1? Does he has a chance????
  18. Thank you all. I would take all advice and try to spar. If meeting anymore problem, I would probably post here again.
  19. I have dealed with big guy 30 lbs heavier than I am The guy is only good at right Muay Thai low kick and or his left is rarely used but only push kick. Hence, as many says side-step to his left because his left jab and left push kick is not as heavy as his right side stuff. Get close to him and do some punch combo and end with a low kick to his balancing leg. Jump back and retreat to wait for his next attack. But sometime I was grasped to go into neck wrestling and punished by his knee kick
  20. So I think you are asking if somebody who do not learn any martial arts but fight a lot as Reality fighting In Hong Kong, we named it as "gangster's fight" <----Literal translation. They usually throw punching with many pre-action just as pulling the whole arm back. Usually they may throw 2 to 3 hook and then with not very correct push kick. And may tried to get close to throw someone on ground. I would say if anyone who are 6 feet 3 inches tall, weigh 200 Ibs and with well built. Then this is not easy to tackle. If they learnt a little bit capture skill, boxing and judo skill for few months. Then this is not easy to tackle when you are 30 Ibs less than the guy even you may have more all-rounded and experienced than him.
  21. Hi, I am a beginner for BJJ. Our dojo mainly teach us ground-fight I know that they know how to take down but may teach me much later. I appreciate their technique but I just want to know some more because I usually spar with my friend under no-rule. Just for fun What points we should be careful if I would like to go into Take-down? What method of Take-down can I choose? Thank everybody in advance
  22. Hi, Cavalera. The website has good films but the so-called weapon fighting is some sort of form that generated by Modern Wushu. Fancy but .... I would say something similar to Peking Opera. Not that practical....
