  1. Well, the Knights fell to the Star in game 7 with the score of 2-1 on Star's ice. Oh well, they fought tooth and nail to the very end. Congrats to the Stars; well-deserved and good luck to the rest of the playoffs.
  2. Watching the Elton John and Bernie Taupin: The Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for Popular Song on PBS. An iconic team if ever seen.
  3. Tomorow might be the end of the Knights playoff fight having have lose on Stars ice yesterday. Knights return to their own ice tomorrow for a do-or-die fight against the Stars who have returned to their solid winning ways at the expensive of the Knights. Got my fingers crossed, have said a prayer, have lit the candles, and have a rabbit's foot in my pocket...even though that might not save the Knights from being eliminated. Protect the net or go to the house!! GO KNIGHTS!!
  4. While being the head coach of any major sports team might seem like quite lucrative, but being a head coach is anything but ideal because they're here today, gone tomorrow.
  5. Well, the Stars did it again to my Knights last night to tie up the series by the score of 4-2. Knights return to Stars ice tomorrow before returning back to Knights ice this Friday. I hope that the Stars haven't returned back to their winning streak at the cost of the Knights. Knights scored in 1st and 2nd quarter but found only a dry hole around the Stars net. Yet, the Stars found Knights net plentiful in all 3 quarters. You might be right aurik about this series going 7 games. GO KNIGHTS!!
  6. So he is playing the villain? If he gets people to hate him, they will watch just to see him lose. That is the same thing Colby Covington does to sell fights. Yes!! I believe his net worth of $300M attests for the fact that he's so darn popular as the MMA bad boy. Perhaps the real reason why McGregor is so popular is that people want to see what he'll say/do next.
  7. I have no idea why McGregor is so popular. He definitely has an effective team on his side especially with his social media. He does have a nice MMA record of 22-6 with very effective striking He's a lot of controversies from driving offenses to alleged sex assault; perhaps he's considered by many as the bad-boy of the MMA. After all, he'll fight anyone, and fans love that about him People love a bad-boy for many reasons, and with his gift a trash talking, which has earned him the name The Notorious, it's no real surprise how he has endeared himself with his fans, which definitely fueled his marketability and star power. I'm just guessing as to the real reasons as to why he's so popular. Doesn't hurt his popularity at all that he starred in Road House as a bad-boy.
  8. OT wasn't favorable for the Knights last night as they lost to the Stars 3-2. Knights were scoreless in the 1st and 3rd quarters. The 3rd quarter was a battle for them both as the net was fiercely defended. At 16:23 mark of OT, Johnston, the youngest Star player found Knights net for the win. Game 4 tomorrow on Knights ice. GO KNIGHTS!!
  9. Funny thing about game winning predictions, they sure can sometimes be quite unexpected and amusing. Like with the Stars and the Knights in their game 2 of the playoffs on Star's ice tonight. The Stars were favored to win against the Knights, however, the Knights won 3-1. Next game for the Stars and the Knights will be this Saturday on Knights ice. I wonder what the game winning predictions will be for their game 3?!? GO KNIGHTS!!
  10. Tonight's game two between the Stars and the Knights has the Stars at a 48.1% winning prediction. I forgot what the winning prediction was for game one. My bracket? Easy. KNIGHTS all the way!! GO KNIGHTS!!
  11. Happy birthday to Noah (Wastelander)!! Thank you for all of the contributions that you have made to our community. Have a safe and fun birthday, Noah!!
  12. Nnnnnnnnooooooooooooooooooooooooo to the bold type above. I was afraid that would happen. The Stars are super-hot and the Knights play on the Stars ice. And of course, the 7th place Ducks in the Pacific quacked all over the Knights on the Knights last game of the regular season on Knights ice by the score of 4-1. GO KNIGHTS!! If you are looking for a confidence booster, just remember that Vegas won all three regular season games against Dallas this season, and Vegas might get some healthy players back in time for Monday's game 1. That's uplifting, for sure. Knight has to protect the net as never before. Give Dallas an inch, they'll take that mile for sure. GO KNIGHTS!!
  14. Excellent points, Ken!! At first, in episode One, they ALL spoke in English, ahem, excuse me, (Portugues). However, the Japanese would not speak English in mixed company, if my memory serves me right. Then came episode Two, where I had to read the translations, which I hate to do because I want to watch the show and not read the show. where ALL Japanese spoke Japanese and nothing else, even amongst themselves, whereas the non-Japanese spoke English to one another.... unless they were speaking directly to a Japanese.
  15. Absolute fantastic update through and through. You're a fine MAist and teacher!! I've nothing but sheer confidence in you across the board. The one thing that I did forever and a day with my instructors, is to NOT allow my instructors to become complacent in teaching one particular ranks. Instructors can love to teach one rank and despise teaching the other rank. which is completely unfair to the Student Body in a whole and unacceptable. And of course, I never allowed my instructors to teach above their rank. In order to teach Godan, for example, an instructor must be Rokudan minimum and that Rukudan WILL be also teaching Jukyu on a regular basis per the instructor rotation schedule. Guess who oversaw that schedule?? You guessed it. Me. You got this, Ken.
  16. While watching the next to last of the 2024 Shogun, we both were wondering if there was a second season in the works due to the current Shogun's pace. Sure, the 2024 Shogun has marched to its own tune in many ways, but will there be a second season? Here's the answer... "We took the story to the end of the book and put a period at the end of that sentence. We love how the book ends; it was one of the reasons why we both knew we wanted to do it — and we ended in exactly that place. And I’ve been party to this in the past with shows like this, where you build a whole factory, and it only pumps out 10 cars and closes up shop. It’s a bummer. You know, one of our producers wrote a nearly 900-page instruction manual for how we do this show — almost as long as the book Shogun itself. All of this infrastructural knowledge went into it. I just hope someone else — maybe a friend — needs a production primer on feudal Japan at some point, so I can be like, 'Here you go, use this book. That will save you 11 months." ~ Series co-creators Justin Marks and Rachel Kondo. The unfortunate thing is that there will be no season 2. The show was marketed as a mini-series and as what the co-creators have hinted above, 2024 Shogun, is a one-and-done season. Finale will air on April 23rd.
  17. With us, it's all about effectiveness over aesthetics. While proper form is important for any technique, we're far more concerned with said effectiveness. The concern over aesthetics occurs when a MAist has not yet matured in their technique(s) yet, whereas the effectiveness suffers sorely. Ya' just got to love the beauty of Shu Ha Ri...and I do.
  18. After a scoreless 1st period, the Knights scored once in the 2nd period, while the Blackhawks remained scoreless through periods 1 and 2. Blackhawks finally found the Knights net and the Knights scored as well in the 3rd period. Knights won with the score of 3-1. One last game for the regular season against 7th place Ducks of the Pacific. Not all too excited about facing the Stars or the Avalanche, if we draw either in the playoffs because the Stars are HOT and the Avalanche offense and defense are effective. Either way with those two, it comes down at the net. GO KNIGHTS!!
  19. Knights won over the Avalanche yesterday on home ice by the score of 4-3 in OT. Knights were scoreless until the 3rd period. On the other side of the puck was the Avalanche scoring twice in the 1st period and 1 score in the 2nd. I was just sitting there thinking to myself..."Anytime, Knights, you can score at any time...would be nice. And boy did they finally in the 3rd period. Then, with a big fat cherry on top, Hertl scored at 1:23 of overtime for the Knight win. Tomorrow, the 8th place in the Central, Blackhawks visit on the Knights ice. GO KNIGHTS!!
  20. Recording classes is also another great way of reviewing just how your instructors are teaching and acting whenever the CI is NOT in-house at the dojo/dojang/etc. The saying that says..."When the cat is away, the mice do play".
  21. Knights beat Wild tonight by the score of 7-2 on Knights ice. That win clinches the Knights in the Stanley Cup playoffs for the 6th straight time in 7 years. Knights last 3 regular season games in in the Knights ice. Next for the Knights is the Avalanche who are in 3rd place in the Pacific, and won against the Wild this past Tuesday 4-2 on Avalanche ice. GO KNIGHTS!!
  22. I've been filming classes for as long as I can remember. The camera doesn't blink, and it reveals quite a lot of things that can be missed by the naked eye. I made it possible for students to view themselves on film, no matter the subject whenever they wanted. I've caught so many Aha moments. For example. students would come to me asking, "Sensei, can I see last night's kumite session" or "Sensei, can I see last week's Bunkai classes because something's bothering me". I recorded myself doing all Kata's, empty-hand and weapons, and made them available to the students to watch as often as they wanted to. Not all students have photographic memories. A lot of times, I'd review a particular class with a student in my office as a review, giving important advice, not a tear-down session, but a one-on-one with a student has proved to make a lot of difference in a student's MA betterment. Not just for the student's sake, but for mine as well. Watching how I'm teaching and leading classes makes me a better CI. Classes need to be tweaked from time to time because nothing and no one is perfect. As a MAist, I can't fix myself if I don't see for myself that I need some fixing. Filming classes is a very invaluable tool of information. By my showing that I sincerely invest myself in their MA betterment, the student reinvests into themselves, and that is worth everything. Proof is on the floor...and...in the filming.
  23. Knights lost to the Oliers 5-1; a dismal execution on the ice against a most formidable opponent, but not much of a surprise. Only goal fo r the Knights was in the 3rd quarter. Next opponent...Wild on Knights ice. Next 4 games are on Knight's ice. Quite perplexing!! GO KNIGHTS!!
