I don’t think that we’d ever see a PPV SB because the SB In itself generates quite a lot of money to go around to make whatever company happy. BUT…one never knows.

self-defense distance…
sensei8 replied to Spartacus Maximus's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
Where talking about keeping a distance at all costs, if possible. Last Friday, at around 1:35pm, here in North Las Vegas, at a gym, there was a mass shooting where a manager of the gym was killed, and several others were injured. The manager worked at that gym for 15 years. Yesterday morning, channel 5 showed a clip. In this clip, it shows the shooter walking into the gym and he was carrying what looked like a military rifle. As the shooter is entering the gym, a male customer of the gym is walking by the shooter on the shooters left. Mind you, the shooter paid no attention to that customer at all, shooter even told the two female employees standing behind the check-in counter that they better hid “because something’s about to happen bad”. That male customer that walked by the shooter KEPT HIS DISTANCE from the shooter by leaving out the front door quickly, but before he exited the gym, he quickly looked over his left shoulder at the shooter. The shooter and the male customer were not that far away from each other as they passed by each other. Shooter was shot by the police outside of the gym entrance; shooter died later at the hospital . -
Not a bad idea!! Thanks, Brian!!

When I owned/operated my dojo full-time, I’d train each morning several hours before my first class of that day. Often times, I’d squeeze in some training between classes. Most of the time, if I wasn’t going to be teaching on the floor, I’d be taking care of my daily duties, whether it be paperwork, making phone calls, working in my MA supply store, or who knows what. That’s why I always insisted to my students and instructors that there’s ALWAYS time in the day/night to squeeze in training. No practice makes a MAist very dull.
-
Are you in favor of the departments making BJJ mandatory?? I agree that the department should find the BJJ instructor AND pay for the training. Which if I’m not mistaken, anything made mandatory as far as training is concerned must be paid for by the employer, or at least claimed/written off in one’s tax return form.

Surely the GB that I was a member of forever and a day isn’t the only GB of the MA that closed their doors forever. In the end, ours was a victim of internal civil war and tumultuous unrest within its higher hierarchy. It bleed out slowly after our founders both passed away, and after I was no longer its president. What MA Governing Bodies that you’re aware of that have permanently closed their doors.

I know it’s bad of me, the way that I am when it comes to being a fan of sports, but more than not, I’ll lose interest of whatever is going on in whatever the playoff might be once the team I support is knocked out of the playoff and so on. My Knights have been knocked out of the playoffs, so I’ve no more interest in the NHL playoffs. Like I said, I know it’s bad of me to be that way!! Will I watch the Stanley Cup?? Depends on who’s playing. -

More justified?? When you’re in danger?? The justification is to prevent from being harmed at any means. Imho!! -
Saw my new Oncologist, Dr. Imran Ahmed, MD, at 8:15am. Key results: A) PSA 0.05 **No concerns!! B) Testosterone 235 **Goal is 276!! Dr.Ahmed says there’s no concerns that this number increased by 160 in 4 months; to be expected and this number will level out!! Dr. Ahmed was very pleased with EVERYTHING!! My kidneys are doing much better, my diabetes is nearly GONE, my weight is dropping, and my cancer is STILL in complete remission!! My next appointment with Dr. Ahmed is September 19, 2025 at 8am.

Even though that Cowboys VS Raiders game is going to be on MNF, that to me is just another reason to gouge the ticket prices. It’s just the NFL…it’s just Las Vegas…it’s just a football game. I love my Cowboys to the end of the world but not that much to pay those blown-up prices. Watching football games on the TV works for me.

Congrats to the Oilers for defeating my Knights quite handily. It was a very tough series and we never made an impact whatsoever during that series…not one iota. Until next season… GO KNIGHTS!! -
Cowboys 2025 schedule is what it is. My wife and I were going to attend the Cowboys VS Raiders here in Las Vegas on November 17th, her being a Raiders fan and me being a Cowboys fan BUT… Lowest ticket for that game is $575 for the nose bleed section…that adds up to $1,150 not counting any fees plus parking, which starts at $175…to park a car at the Allegiant Stadium. OVERPRICED TO THE NTH DEGREE!! We can see the 49ers in a pre-season game against the Raiders starting at $97, which is far more affordable!! Allegiant Stadium ticket prices are way overpriced no matter the event, except for UNLV college football which can be as low as $8 per ticket. Allegiant Stadium reasons for offering high ticket prices is “We’re in Las Vegas; the capital of entertainment.” HOGWASH!! GO COWBOYS!!

self-defense distance…

When one feels threatened. That’s when the perceived danger is real TO THAT PERSON. Of course, that perception varies from person to person. There’s no shame in running away from ant perceived threat whenever safe to do so. It’s embedded into me to not move backwards whatsoever but to advance in any forward direction. Why would I do this if I perceive danger?? My turning around gives my attacker an advantage; an advantage that I can’t afford. I can no longer see what my attacker is doing. I’d rather have my attacker turn around instead and put him/her at the disadvantage, no matter how slight that might be. I wrote an article here at KF back in 2014 titled “CLOSE RANGE SPACE MANAGEMENT” that I believe is relevant to what we’re discussing. Unfortunately, I can’t seem to figure out how to add that link to my post here…sorry. -
Congrats KarateKen and JazzKicker!! You both have every reason to be proud of yourselves!!
-
Now you’re talking!! Great help for both you and Zach. Nothing more exciting than having a guest instructor of that caliber on the floor. He definitely ran you all through the paces from A to Z and back. That’s my type of training…hit them hard and shake them up with no- nonsense training. I bet everyone one the floor was drenched in sweat from head to toe. An old Okinawa saying that my Sensei always reminded us often… “Minai chichi nai. - We learn by watching and listening!!” You both did just that.

I guess you-know-what is no longer frozen. Pete Rose and “Shoeless” Joe Jackson have been reinstated by MLB; both now eligible for Hall of Fame. This announcement came from baseball Commissioner Rob Manfred on Tuesday. The Commissioner also stated that he was changing the league's policy on permanent ineligibility, saying bans would expire after death. Both of their baseball careers were pretty much destroyed by their betting scandals. That’s when you-know-what froze over solid. Under the Hall of Fame's current rules, it appears the earliest Rose or Jackson could be inducted would be in 2028. Never say never!!

The Las Vegas Aviators, 27-13 record, who are the triple AAA affiliate for the A’s, hosted the El Paso Chihuahuas, 20-20 record, who are the triple AAA affiliate for the San Diego Padres. Only reason I’m posting this is because of the games final score, which was: Aviators 20 El Paso 2 Here’s how the game went down… Inning 1: Aviators 8 and El Paso 0 Inning 2: NO SCORE Inning 3: NO SCORE Inning 4: Aviators 4 and El Paso 0 Inning 5: Aviators 0 and El Paso 1 Inning 6: Aviators 2 and El Paso 1 Inning 7: Aviators 0 and El Paso 0 Inning 8: Aviators 6 and El Paso 0 Inning 9: El Paso 0 What a score!! Aviators better enjoy that because that kind of score is incogitable!!

No surprise that my Knights failed to even-up the series between them and the Oliers by the final score of 3-0, and now my Knights trail in their series 3-1. Knights have to win EVERY SINGLE GAME HERE ON OUT…NOT HAPPENING AT ALL!! My Knights, as Ken has said…STUNK ON THE ICE!! Game 5 will be on Knights ice!! Anyone ever watch the movie “Moneyball”?? During that movie, the A’s GM, Billy Beane, whenever he was listening to an A’s game on the radio, he’d ever so often, turn the radio off and on, like that would make a difference of the game’s outcome. Well, that’s how I watched tonight’s game between my Knights and the Oilers by changing the channel quite often, like that would make everything better…didn’t make any difference whatsoever in that games outcome!! GO KNIGHTS!! -

This week, May 14th, if I remember correctly, is when the upcoming season schedule will be announced. On another announcement comes from FOX… “The network announced on Monday that it would broadcast a Saturday doubleheader on Week 16 – Dec. 20 – with four NFC teams ducking it out.” GO COWBOYS!!

Maybe I’m misunderstanding what you’re saying but the Oilers won first 2 games ON Knight ice, and the Knights have won 1 game ON Oilers ice. It will be fantastic if my Knights win tonight’s game ON Oilers ice to tie up their series. GOT MY FINGERS ARMS, LEGS, AND EYES CROSSED FOR MY KNIGHTS TO WIN TONIGHT!!! GO KNIGHTS!!
