Welcome to KF, pandaGIRL; glad you’re here!! Great advice so far!! The MA was never supposed to be a walk in the park with roses and flowers. If the MA was easy, everyone would be doing. Sure, some students acclimate to MA training easier than others but all have one thing in common…TIME!! The fear of the unknown of the floor is a real thing. Take one day at a time!! You’re supposed to be terrible UNTIL you’re not. Everything and anything is overwhelming whenever it’s new!! Every CI will tell you “Practice makes perfect” and that’s no exasperation!! As already mentioned, the MA should be taken in baby steps. No exceptions!! Believe in yourself totally!! What are you real good at outside of the MA?? Think back to that time when you were terrible at that and thought you’d never get it. But now, in time, you worked through it all and now, you’re pretty darn good at it now. That same thing will happen again but only in time. In the MA, every technique, no matter how small, has to mature and that maturity takes time so be patient across the board. You got this!!

Congrats to the winners of this year’s KF Awards; well deserved to all!! Until next year’s awards!! -
Raiders having lost 10 straight games in a row, can now go for 11 straight in a row this Sunday at home against the Panthers. Their MNF at home game only had one nice element to it and that was the ZZ Top Halftime Show. The Raiders game play can be summed up in 2 words…NO EFFORT!!

Packers had no problem with the Seahawks!! They’ve the Vikings next! Their remaining schedule is tough, ending with the Rams. Playoffs for the Seahawks might not be happening. My friend, Dwight, who’s a big Seahawks fan was beside himself with how ineffective his Seahawks were tonight!! He hates my Cowboys and we’re constantly making fun of each others team’s misery!! GO COWBOYS!!

To my knowledge a lot of tailors and seamstresses do embroidery. Cost might depend on how detailed and if they can do Hang Gul lettering!! I hope you can find what you’re looking for!!

In that regards, being a Master Instructor is a more acceptable label as opposed to being labeled as a Master of the MA. What’s the difference of those two?? Plenty, I assure you. One is a fact and one is an assumption. Not all black belts can teach and no one is a Master of the MA; both are discovered once on the floor.

I must’ve been living under a rock to have never heard of CarJitsu let alone them having a Championship events. I saw CarJitsu Championship this morning while surfing on my TV on the Stadium Stream Channel. Here’s what I know about this unusual and unique sport… Carjitsu is a competitive grappling sport that takes place inside a vehicle. The sport was created by Vik Mikheev, a Russian graduate student at Kansas State University who is a black belt in Brazilian jiujitsu and judo. The goal of the sport is to submit your opponent by choking them or forcing them to extend a limb. If the match is too close, points are awarded for dominant positions, such as back control or top position. Combatants appear to be from varying grappling experiences and backgrounds. Matches are 3 minutes long and 1 round. The car they grapple in is a Toyota Sienna. Poor car takes a beating as well. Makes a lot of sense because one never knows when they’ll have to defend themselves inside of a car. The network seems to be PLN, Pro League Network. Has anyone been following this sport and if so perhaps can give us more information and details.

News on Wednesday, Bill Belichick has been hired as the next Head Coach of the UNC Tar Heels. Belichick agreed to a five-year deal, pending administration approval. Previous coach Mack Brown was paid $5 million per season. Per The Athletic, he’s signed to a $50 million contract. Can Belichick fix UNC tarnished history??

Well, my wife’s Raiders are now 2-11, 9 losses in a row. Misery loves company, Ken. My Cowboys suck too, not as bad as your Jets or my wife’s Raiders but they suck enough this year; they’ve lost every home game this year. GO … oh it doesn’t matter!!

Juan Soto of the Mets has just surpassed Dodgers Shohei Ohtani’s $700 million over 10 years by earning $764 million over 15 years. Staggers my mind!! That’s $51 million a year!! That’s $4.250 million a month!! That’s $1 million a week!! Just think, I lettered in high school baseball as a 3rd baseman but I decided to dedicate my life to learn and teach the MA instead!! Perhaps I should’ve took the other road that was mentioned in the Robert Frost poem.

Excellent posts, Ken!! Thank you for keeping us updated on what’s happening in the NHL this season!! My Knights are hanging in there. GO KNIGHTS!! -
“Show me someone who is a Master, and I’ll show you someone who is not.” I’m sure I read that somewhere, but not sure where I read that or from whom but perhaps that says it all.

I busted a gut whenever I read…”I will fall asleep if I meditate that long.” As far as just how long one should meditate is left up to that person. Meditate as long as your heart leads you.

5th Dan Testing
sensei8 replied to bushido_man96's topic in Share Your Testing, Grading, or Promotion
5th Dan!! Milestone!! CONGRATS; well deserved!! I greatly enjoyed reading your OP and I thank you for sharing it with us!! Made me think back to when I earned my 5th Dan; what a hard fought battle that Testing Cycle was, but well worth all of the blood, sweat, and tears. Earning one’s 5th Dan means many various things to many people. Opportunities abound for those who earn a 5th Dan of which have to be seriously considered while continuing on their MA journey. Is 5th Dan a Master of said art?? Maybe…Maybe not. That’s not what should be in the foremost thing in their mind. My Sensei’s Sensei always said that, “Only others can say that someone is a Master, and not the one that has earned a 5th Dan”. I know your integrity and I greatly respect you wholeheartedly. I know just how hard you’ve trained in TKD and I can’t be even more proud of what you’ve earned these many, many years. CONGRATULATIONS ON EARNING YOUR 5TH DAN!! What is the name of the new form?? I agree with you, Brian, don’t wait 11 years for your 6th Dan…maybe 5 or 6. -
4th dan at long last.
sensei8 replied to JazzKicker's topic in Share Your Testing, Grading, or Promotion
Congratulations, JazzKicker on earning your 4th Dan, especially after 30 years as a 3rd Dan; milestone, for sure!! -
First steps can always be difficult. My congrats for you taking that first step to improve your health. With any diet, I encourage you to share your diet plans with your doctor. Your doctor might be be able to fine tune your new diet. Worth a try. Good luck!!

What to do about students (kids) that don't want to train?
sensei8 replied to DWx's topic in Instructors and School Owners
If I may… Gohon Kumite is 5-Step Sparring and Sanbon Kumite is 3-Step Sparring. -
Did you pass?? Congrats to your school on how well you all did at the National Instructor Seminar!!

Very interesting!! Sounds good to me because change is inevitable, and MLB isn’t an exception to that, and I’m glad for that. Let’s see what we see at that time.

We “meditate” 5 minutes before and after class!! It was our way because it was our founders way, and that tradition stayed with us whenever we ran our own dojo’s. Sometimes, habits are difficult to break!! Because it was our way, it’s not wrong for us.

Approach to grading
sensei8 replied to Ezomatsu's topic in Share Your Testing, Grading, or Promotion
Our Senior Testing Cycles take 2-3 DAYS to complete due to the amount of material, both physical and written, that’s required. Kyu Testing Cycles can take many different hours depending in the kyu being tested. Dan Testing Cycles can take 1-2 days to complete. Both of our founders were from Okinawa and migrated to the USA. Whenever it came to certain things, they were extremely strict to the Nth degree…and beyond. Why? I believe that they perhaps didn’t trust us whatsoever, so they made us go over EVERYTHING, and I mean EVERYTHING, from Jukyu up to Hachidan. Yes, Hachidan rank didn’t escape the grueling Testing Cycle at all It was their baby and their house. When in Rome, might apply. -
Look who STILL wants to coach football?? Bill Belichick!! Belichick speaks with the UNC Tar Heels about the Head Coach position!! Belichick interviewed the other day and Belichick’s interest is “high and genuine”. However, his age and lack of college experience might stand in his way of obtaining the Head Coach of the Tar Heels!! If I’m a team, I’d hire Belichick…period!! So, this is your opportunity Jerry Jones to speak to Belichick and give him whatever he wants so he can coach the Cowboys out of mediocrity and back where they deserve…Super Bowl Champs!! Unless, you enjoy where the Cowboys are at and will more than likely remain there?!? GO COWBOYS!!
