Have you tried ice/heat in the area?? Have you wrapped an Ace Band-Aid around your ribs?? Does it hurt to move and/or breath?? Hope you're feeling better soon, Ken. No, nothing like that. I don't usually feel anything unless I am lying down. Even then it doesn't hurt, more sore than painful. That’s great to hear!! Hopefully it is just that little ache you sometimes get when something is just finishing up healing! Injured rib s are no fun so hopefully it clears up soon! Thanks. I am feeling a lot better than I was a few days ago when I posted that That’s great to hear!!

That’s a tough one for me because they were collectively funny!! Separately, I think Kramer was the funniest of them all, imho. Kramer was the Iggy from Taxi of the Seinfeld show to me.

Experience can be the greatest determent of creativity and innovation because you learn from experience what not to do. It's the unchecked desire and fearlessness to just go into something that allows you to impart something from nothing. That allows you the resourcefulness and to be able to take things to the ultimate. As the CI, I get to teach/train my students, with that unquenchable fervor, that doesn't possess the decades of experience that teaches what not to do, and I get to learn from them, and I get to feed off of their passion, and I get to feed off their enthusiasm. I can’t stop wondering who’s the lucky one here?? They keep me anxious, and they remind me on a daily basis of what I love about teaching, what makes teaching so intimate, and what makes me feel so fortunate every day to teach a score of diversity student body that well be far more talented than I have ever hoped to be. Being an instructor made me a better martial artist.

KC seems to be the team of the ages nowadays. A lot of teams can learn a lot from KC both on and off the field. That's the beauty of any competition...it's not over until the lady sings. Whenever the lady starts to warm-up, KC tells her to SIT DOWN. GO CHIEFS!! GO COWBOYS!!

Learning how to BE a type 2 Diabetic now has its challenges, especially when it comes to a diet. My wife is encouraging me to see a Nutritionist, the sooner the better. I eat bird size portions, but the weird thing is that I get full on just half-a-cup.

I've not seen it yet. I must be living under a rock. It does sound like I'll enjoy it quite a lot.

Two 10th Dans don't strengthen a dojo, they dramatically weaken said dojo, neither do they complement its Student Body. It would be more beneficial for the dojo and its Student Body if there was only one Judan and one Kudan, however in this case, that ship has already sailed into uncharted waters. Imho!!

Congrats, Noah for the double promotions, Sandan and Yondan. Feels good, huh? Having the Shogo title of Renshi bestowed to you is extremely special. I've always believed that earning ranks is one thing but having a Shogo title bestowed upon me is much more special because Shogo titles cannot be earned in the same way that ranks are. Ranks are earned via a Testing Cycle; however, Shogo titles are awarded from either owns very own Sensei and/or through ones Governing Body. All of my Shogo titles were bestowed upon me by my Sensei, which means more to me than any rank I ever earned. I cherish my Shogo titles far more than any of my earned ranks. It meant to me that my Sensei saw something in me of value that I didn't see. Again, congrats Noah for your double promotions and having your Renshi bestowed upon you; well deserved!!

Congrats, Brian for achieving 30K posts here at KF. One thing I want to say is that your posts, Brian, are not in passing but more educational, informative, and well thought out no matter the topic. Brian adds a lot to the KF community across the board. Thank you, Brian!!

Congrats, Zaine; well deserved!!

Your wisest course of action is very wise. Any of the Yudansha's willing to open their own dojo part time or run classes at some very affordable venue's once your current dojo closes?? If not, I'm sure that another solution might present itself whenever the time is right. Please keep us updated. Good luck.

I'm with everyone thus far. If nothing else, as suggested, a visit to that dojo while watching a few classes of varying ranks might clear up the air, and if nothing else, it might be a good laugh. If they don't recognize Sankyu, or the Kyu system in general, I wonder if they even know what's a "dojo"?!?

Have the UFL ever played an exhibition game with any NFL team?? I thought it interesting that the merged XFL-USFL spring football league will be known as the UFL. Hope that works for all concerned. I tried to watch the XFL once but sooner instead of later, I didn't make it through to many games before I abandoned watching XFL completely.

Great through post, Brian. I'm not much of a follower of the UFL spring league. I suppose I'm an NFL kind of guy in heart. GO CHIEFS!!

KANSIS CITY CHIEFS WITH SUPER BOWL 58!! What a game that was in Las Vegas at the Allegient Stadium for Super Bowl 58 against the San Fransisco 49ers. A nail-biting game if I ever saw one. Chiefs win 25-22 in OT over the 49ers. This game would've gone to the 49ers in OT under the old OT rules. Because of the new OT rules both teams have a chance with the ball. 49ers scored first in OT with a Moody field goal, and again, in the old OT rules, the 49ers would've won SB 58. Mahomes knows how to win...that's for sure. With less than 10 seconds in OT, Mahomes connects with Hardman with a three-yard TD pass to win the SB 58. Chiefs didn't get on the board until right before the end of the 2nd quarter. 49ers controlled the line of scrimmage with such dominance against the Chiefs. 1st quarter was scoreless. 2nd quarter ended with the 49ers 10, Chiefs 3. 3rd quarter ended it was 49ers 10, Chiefs 13 with the Chiefs scoring a field goal and a TD, but the 49ers were scoreless in the 3rd quarter. 4th quarter ended with tie score of 19 a piece. 49ers in OT drove to score a field goal and the Chiefs drove to the winning TD. Again, new OT rules helped the Chiefs because if the old OT rules were still in effect, 49ers would've hosted up the Vince Lombardi Trophy instead of the Chiefs. Both teams fought hard to the end. OT's don't happen much in the SB's at all. Last time there was OT in the SSB was in SB51 with the Patriots win over the Falcons. I got to tell you that 3 times I told my wife that this game is over for the Chiefs. I mean, both teams had their share of problems on both sides of the ball. However, it seemed that towards the end, and in OT, that the management of the clock was favoring the 49ers but boy was I dead wrong because just when I thought that the SB win was over for the Chiefs, they kept finding ways to fight their way back into the game. Predictions favored the 49ers by 2 points, but like I said in a earlier post of mine, predictions have a funny way to change any predictions at the games end. This is my SB 58 recap in a nutshell. Travis Kelce was rumored that this was going to be his very last game. However, Travis said, when he was asked that very question, during the trophy ceremony, Travis said "I'll see you all next year" indicating that he wants to win a 3-Peat. 3-Peats are harder to win than back-2-backs, and back-2-backs aren't that easy. But here we are...Chiefs won back-2-back SB's tonight. Congrats to the Chiefs for winning the Super Bowl 58. Oh yeah, there were 2 streakers during the 3rd quarter. GP CHIEFS!!

Welcome to KF, MForest; glad that you're here!! Literal Japanese translations?? Sorry, I don't know what you're looking for in that regard. Jun-Zuki as we've been taught is basically a jab whether stationary or moving backwards. To me, Jun means "Step", like one does whenever one's doing a jab. Whereas Oi-Zuki is a traditional lunge forward with the hand and foot of the same side moving simultaneously forward. Of course, style variations of either differ as how the methodology is taught. Either way, style 'A' might have Jun perform similar to Oi, while style 'B' has the Jun different than Oi. Either are taught through how their footwork, Ashi Sabaki, is taught. You seem to have the understandings down pretty much across the board. Punches aren't created equally. Tsuki to me is "Thrust" and Zuki is "Punch" all depending on what effectiveness one's searching for at said target.

Do you ever record the games. If so, then you could eat during any given day. Your viewing time slot is terrible for the Super Bowl but what can one do. It was like when the F1 in Las Vegas was held at 10pm locally...that was terrible. Btw, all of that food I have for the Super Bowl is consumed by not just me. I've help to eat all of that food. GO CHIEFS!!

Sounded like you had a pretty good few weeks all in all. The balancing of teaching/student/family time can be a tad frustrating, especially when there's only 24 hours in a day. Still, those few weeks were very positive for you. Train hard and train well.

As of today, not much has changed as the predictions are concerned with Super Bowl 58 between the 49ers VS the Chiefs. 49ers are still the favorites to win SB 58 at 53.4% Chiefs still the underdog to win SB 58 at 46.6% Spread: The 49ers are favored by 2 points Over/Under: The total number of points expected to be scored is 47.5 Not much to shout about with those stalled predictions. Talks swirling around that this might be Travis Kelce's last NFL game...time will tell. This year I'm doing sliders for the 1st quarter, hot wings for the 2nd quarter, chips/dips for the 3rd quarter, and pizza for the 4th quarter. What's your Super Bowl foods of choice?? GO CHIEFS!!

Current predictions of Super Bowl 58 thus far with just a week remaining for kick-off... Chiefs have a 46.1% winning chance. 49ers have a 53.9% winning chance. Chiefs are 1.5 underdog. Numbers still might change before the coin-toss. Of course, how many sports predictions change at the games end. I believe that it'll be a close game with the Chiefs winning their 3rd Super Bowl. GO CHIEFS!!
