Great through post, Brian. I'm not much of a follower of the UFL spring league. I suppose I'm an NFL kind of guy in heart. GO CHIEFS!!

KANSIS CITY CHIEFS WITH SUPER BOWL 58!! What a game that was in Las Vegas at the Allegient Stadium for Super Bowl 58 against the San Fransisco 49ers. A nail-biting game if I ever saw one. Chiefs win 25-22 in OT over the 49ers. This game would've gone to the 49ers in OT under the old OT rules. Because of the new OT rules both teams have a chance with the ball. 49ers scored first in OT with a Moody field goal, and again, in the old OT rules, the 49ers would've won SB 58. Mahomes knows how to win...that's for sure. With less than 10 seconds in OT, Mahomes connects with Hardman with a three-yard TD pass to win the SB 58. Chiefs didn't get on the board until right before the end of the 2nd quarter. 49ers controlled the line of scrimmage with such dominance against the Chiefs. 1st quarter was scoreless. 2nd quarter ended with the 49ers 10, Chiefs 3. 3rd quarter ended it was 49ers 10, Chiefs 13 with the Chiefs scoring a field goal and a TD, but the 49ers were scoreless in the 3rd quarter. 4th quarter ended with tie score of 19 a piece. 49ers in OT drove to score a field goal and the Chiefs drove to the winning TD. Again, new OT rules helped the Chiefs because if the old OT rules were still in effect, 49ers would've hosted up the Vince Lombardi Trophy instead of the Chiefs. Both teams fought hard to the end. OT's don't happen much in the SB's at all. Last time there was OT in the SSB was in SB51 with the Patriots win over the Falcons. I got to tell you that 3 times I told my wife that this game is over for the Chiefs. I mean, both teams had their share of problems on both sides of the ball. However, it seemed that towards the end, and in OT, that the management of the clock was favoring the 49ers but boy was I dead wrong because just when I thought that the SB win was over for the Chiefs, they kept finding ways to fight their way back into the game. Predictions favored the 49ers by 2 points, but like I said in a earlier post of mine, predictions have a funny way to change any predictions at the games end. This is my SB 58 recap in a nutshell. Travis Kelce was rumored that this was going to be his very last game. However, Travis said, when he was asked that very question, during the trophy ceremony, Travis said "I'll see you all next year" indicating that he wants to win a 3-Peat. 3-Peats are harder to win than back-2-backs, and back-2-backs aren't that easy. But here we are...Chiefs won back-2-back SB's tonight. Congrats to the Chiefs for winning the Super Bowl 58. Oh yeah, there were 2 streakers during the 3rd quarter. GP CHIEFS!!

Welcome to KF, MForest; glad that you're here!! Literal Japanese translations?? Sorry, I don't know what you're looking for in that regard. Jun-Zuki as we've been taught is basically a jab whether stationary or moving backwards. To me, Jun means "Step", like one does whenever one's doing a jab. Whereas Oi-Zuki is a traditional lunge forward with the hand and foot of the same side moving simultaneously forward. Of course, style variations of either differ as how the methodology is taught. Either way, style 'A' might have Jun perform similar to Oi, while style 'B' has the Jun different than Oi. Either are taught through how their footwork, Ashi Sabaki, is taught. You seem to have the understandings down pretty much across the board. Punches aren't created equally. Tsuki to me is "Thrust" and Zuki is "Punch" all depending on what effectiveness one's searching for at said target.

Do you ever record the games. If so, then you could eat during any given day. Your viewing time slot is terrible for the Super Bowl but what can one do. It was like when the F1 in Las Vegas was held at 10pm locally...that was terrible. Btw, all of that food I have for the Super Bowl is consumed by not just me. I've help to eat all of that food. GO CHIEFS!!

Sounded like you had a pretty good few weeks all in all. The balancing of teaching/student/family time can be a tad frustrating, especially when there's only 24 hours in a day. Still, those few weeks were very positive for you. Train hard and train well.

As of today, not much has changed as the predictions are concerned with Super Bowl 58 between the 49ers VS the Chiefs. 49ers are still the favorites to win SB 58 at 53.4% Chiefs still the underdog to win SB 58 at 46.6% Spread: The 49ers are favored by 2 points Over/Under: The total number of points expected to be scored is 47.5 Not much to shout about with those stalled predictions. Talks swirling around that this might be Travis Kelce's last NFL game...time will tell. This year I'm doing sliders for the 1st quarter, hot wings for the 2nd quarter, chips/dips for the 3rd quarter, and pizza for the 4th quarter. What's your Super Bowl foods of choice?? GO CHIEFS!!

Current predictions of Super Bowl 58 thus far with just a week remaining for kick-off... Chiefs have a 46.1% winning chance. 49ers have a 53.9% winning chance. Chiefs are 1.5 underdog. Numbers still might change before the coin-toss. Of course, how many sports predictions change at the games end. I believe that it'll be a close game with the Chiefs winning their 3rd Super Bowl. GO CHIEFS!!

Our Founder refused to kowtow to whatever the MA powers might be on Okinawa. He ignored the MA powers that be on Okinawa. He wasn't going to abide by their rules and regulations and whatever else. He continued to teach on Okinawa despite what anyone said. In a short time afterwards, he moved his family as well as his student to the USA where they resided in the San Fernando Valley in the city of Canoga Park within the Los Angeles County. The beginnings of the SKKA were birthed in Okinawa, and firmly founded in the USA. One of our founders' biggest directives was that the Student Body came first over everything and anything; he was quite protective of his Student Body. Student Body then SKKA, and not the other way.

Have seriously thought of kicking the Cowboys to the curb and start supporting the Chiefs. Why? Well, they kept Dak and McCarthy...and Jerry still owns the Cowboys. I never respected Jerry for the way he fired Landry. Still on the fence how I feel. GO CHIEFS!!

The SKKA, the Governing Body that I was with forever and a day, died out not because our founder died, but because its new leadership many years after our founder died, brought back as its Kaicho even though he'd been banned for life for cause, of which the Student Body, as well as many CI's, terminated their networked memberships immediately. Bad apple ruined the whole bunch.

Is Tang Soo Do still relevant?
sensei8 replied to JazzKicker's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
I believe that many MA, including TSD, are quite relevant. Having said that, my question still remains, is the practitioners themselves relevant enough to be effective?? On the other side of the coin, the MA to me is more of a want and not a need. In that, the MA might not be relevant as one might desire. Any relevancy is up to the individual. -
Member of the Month for November 2023: Luther unleashed
sensei8 replied to Patrick's topic in KarateForums.com Announcements
Congrats, Luther unleashed for being the MOM for the third time and for approaching a milestone for being a KF member for 10 years. -
It's no secret here, especially for those that have been here in KF for awhile, and that whenever the Cowboys season's over short of making it to the SB, I always support the Chiefs. When both the Cowboys and the Chiefs are eliminated one way or another, then I don't support any other NFL. Sure, whichever team in the SB is the underdog, I'll hope for the underdog, not support, just hope for the underdog. Great win over the hosting Bills for the Chiefs. Great win for the hosting Lions over the Buccaneers. My prediction for which 2 teams will be in the SB are both of the #1 seeds 49ers and the Ravens. While the Lions and the Chiefs have played well enough for them to move into the NFL Conference Championships games, beating the 49ers and the Ravens will be a tough thing to do...not impossible...just tough. GO CHIEFS!!

Yep. Thanks. Great to hear, KarateKen!!

Brought a big smile to my face while reading your post, Wayofaswede. Seems that you and your daughter have many years together on the floor. I loved it when you said that your daughter was on the floor as a yellow belt amongst the brown and black belts which speaks in volumes about the CI and the dojo. Train hard and train well.

Cowboys did not trade Prescott and did not fire McCarthy. Well, I guess the Cowboys are satisfied with being 1-and-done when it comes to the playoffs. If the Cowboys don't care, then I suppose I don't care either.

The crux of it all is that the MA is a want and not a need, and in that, prospective students will join, or they won't no matter the amount of marketing and the like. Perhaps the masses have no interest in the MA for their own personal reasons. People lose their interests, or they've never had any interest in a thing for one reason or another. Students come and students go and that's the way things are. I shrug my shoulders in such a way that I have accepted a long time ago that change is inevitable one way or another. I speak as someone who once had a very successful dojo and MA supply store, of which, was closed due to health reasons, and the only marketing I ever did was word of mouth, a hung-up shingle, passing out flyers, and my integrity. Marketing is a very important tool to any business, this I sincerely believe in, each MA school has their own ideas of how they'll approach their marketing; to each their own.

Well, if I can add anything of value, Jerry is stubborn as the day is long, and he shouldn't also be the GM, but he is, however, in all of his stubbornness, he allowed another Bill the reins of the Cowboys, and Bill Belichick is another Bill that was mentored by Bill Parcells. Yeah, I know, I'm fishing in a dry hole if I think Belichick will take the reins of the Cowboys to the promised land known as the Super Bowl.

OUCH!! Sorry to hear about that hard fall, KarateKen. Sounds like the farthest thing from fun. Are you feeling better now?? Learning how to fall is important, however learning how to fall in the dojo kind of prepares one but sometimes the unexpected fall in the manner of which you took all one can do is protect yourself to the best of one's ability, especially one's head. Learning how to fall in the dojo is more directed towards how to fall during a fight. Even then, cover one's head and try to land as flat as best as on can do so that the impact is distributed across a larger area of the body. When a surprised fall happens, try not to brace the fall with your outstretched arm(s) because your run the high risk of seriously injuring your wrist. Unfortunately, that's exactly what the majority people do when they fall. Things surrounding one's topography that one can fall upon are the worse because that stair or that big pointed rock or that nasty concrete, to mention just a few, won't feel a darn thing, it's you that will feel everything. Sometimes, all one can do is to try their very best to limit their injuries in any given fall. What we can learn about how to take a fall properly in the dojo is a great starting point. I don't know about anyone else, but I'm not a movie stunt person that can fall down a flight of stairs unscathed or whatever else with the greatest of ease. Even the stunt person trains hours upon hours for their craft, as we do for our craft, and if the fall training in the dojo is all we have, then bu George, that's something to carry in our muscle memory for when an unexpected fall happens.
