Troy Aikman took issue with the Cowboys' wide receivers as to how they've preformed these past 6 weeks. Calling the Cowboys' wide receivers "lazy" and ridiculing them by saying "they run terrible routes". Troy most assuredly, imho, has the right to speak his mind because Troy's a former Dallas QB and Pro Football Hall of Famer.

Laws surrounding Banned or Prohibited Weapons
sensei8 replied to Nidan Melbourne's topic in Martial Arts Weapons
While legal to carry said MA weapon around, I wonder how many LEO's still might stop someone and have a discussion with that individual, in any US state. Just wondering!! The nunchaku is only banned in one US state: Massachusetts; Personal usage banned. It can be used for martial arts training in some circumstances. I'm pretty sure that no matter the MA weapon, if said MA weapon is brought on school property, that action would be illegal in any US state. -
Training Camps and Student Promotions

IF, there were a 6th or 7th Dan available to be part of a Shindokan Testing Cycle as either part of the panel or overseeing said Testing Cycle, which, overseeing said pane is not a necessity, I'd be okie dokie with that, Therefore, the Shindokan Testing Cycle of this type wouldn't be invalid. Outside of myself, regarding a Shindokan Testing Cycle, whom would I allow to oversee?? Someone who's a Shindokan 6th or 7th Dan...OR...and I've given this some serious though in the past, someone who's a 6th Dan or higher in any of the 4 major styles, even though there'd be some crucial elements that make Shindokan Shindokan in their grading, but a 6th Dan or higher in one of the 4 majors does have both the knowledge and experience to know what's effective and what's not. Policy for future Testing Cycle's?? There's no more policy or future for us Shindkanists anymore. The SKKA was dissolved for cause not so long ago, therefore, there's NO Shindokan Governing Body anymore, and any networked dojo's that remain, if any, have scattered here and there, or they've closed their own dojo doors. This is the sad and harsh reality that all of us Shindokanists face each and every day. We either form a new Governing Body with those networked remaining, if they're even wanting to go through all of that disheartening stuff all over again, or the individual dojos promote within; there's enough 6th-8th Dans intact to just that, if they desire that. They could also join other Governing Bodies, if other Governing Bodies would have them. They don't need me to validate their Testing Cycle anymore because they're independent!! As far as me, and my future as a Shindkanist?? Whenever both Soke and Dai-Soke passed away, Hachidan was as far as I could ever be. I'm very fine with that because that Hachidan was the very last rank that I earned from my Dai-Soke. The SKKA ran a Testing Cycle with the means of circumventing the SKKA's By-Laws by testing me for Kudan. I fought and fought against that Testing Cycle, but gave in, not to the powers-that-be, but to bring back unity and peace back to the Student Body, which I've always protected as long as I can remember. While I'm Kudan, but in my heart, I'll always be just a Hachidan...now and forever!! -
Training Camps and Student Promotions
sensei8 replied to Nidan Melbourne's topic in Instructors and School Owners
I've no problem whatsoever of any of my students attending any Camps. That's their prerogative to do so; what they do on their own time is their own business. Promotions, a.k.a., a full-blown Testing Cycle?? Is the Testing Cycle for rank in one of the 4 major styles?? Perhaps I might be ok with that...maybe. Is the rank for Shindokan?? Without my being present?? Without my approval?? NO!! It'd be an invalid Testing Cycle. Without my knowledge?? In one of the 4 majors?? I'd only know if the student informed me directly. If not, I'd be fine because there's nothing to be upset or whatever about. That's the beauty of impunity. -
To the bold type above... I believe that that's how it should be...BUT...for reasons beyond comprehension, it's just not that way for the most part.

Interesting!! I just might ask my Cardiologist about that procedure!! Thanks, aurik!! Do you know how long that procedure takes and how long the convalescent time is?? -
The ALCS stage is set between the Yankees and the Guardians starting this Monday, October 15th at Yankee Stadium. This is the 2nd time in 3 years and the 4th time in 8 years. But for the first time, thank you Lord, since 2012, my Yankees won't have to go through the Astros, of which the Astros eliminated the Yankees in the 2017, 2019, and 2022 ALCS. Guardians are making their first ALCS appearance since 2016, when they won the pennant before losing to the Cubs in the World Series. Cleveland, of course, has not won a World Series since 1948...that's quite a long time in any sport. Possible starting pitchers for game 1 of the ALCS might be LHP Rodon for the Yankees and RHP Cobb for the Guardians. On the other side, the Dodgers blanked the Mets in their game 1 of the NLCS at Dodgers Stadium by the score of Dodgers 9 and Mets 0. Their game 2 at Dodgers Stadium will be today with first pitch will be at 1:08PM on the west coast before the series returns to the east coast for game 3. Mets and Dodgers met in the 1988 NLCS, which the Dodgers won in 7 games. Dodgers might once again put a pitcher reliever on the mound as their starting pitcher in game 2. With that being said, RHP Flaherty for the Dodgers and LHP Manaea for the Mets. BATTER UP!! GO YANKEES!!

Yeah...OUCH!! The Lions deserved that win over the Cowboys in every way!! When is Jerry going to kick Dak and others to the curb?? Cowboys fly to west coast to the hosting 49ers, which might not be a win for the Cowboys. The 49ers are 4-0 while the Cowboys, who are on a bye licking their many wounds, are favored to win when these two meet on October 27th for SNF. I've read that after all the dust settles down, the final score will be 49er 23 and Cowboys 20...who cares...a win is a win, and a loss is a loss!! GO COWBOYS!!

Nope. Their longest Bo case is their Hard-Shell case which maxes out at 73.5 inches. Their other Bo cases max out at 6 feet.

Ages demand different tactics. The younger the student, the shorter the attention span. Therefore, the shorter the class, and what I did was play "Karate" with them and they just eat that method up. With the teens, drill them to the Nth of the degree and end each class with sparring and my tennis ball drill. Adults, like Montana states, "SWEAT AND EXHAUSTION" better be what I see!! Both teens and adults need things mixed up by surprising them with things that they're not expecting. They can never outsmart me because I'm far eviler than they are.

Rival instructor sets up in same venue?
sensei8 replied to DWx's topic in Instructors and School Owners
It's quite strange that a landlord would ever agree to have two MA schools on their property; landlords just don't like the strife of all that that can create. If the strange thing does happen, just be the professional and get along. Also, when the rubber meets the road, be better than the other MA school in every way possible but do not sell your integrity for any reason...ever!! -
Paying Guest Instructors
sensei8 replied to Nidan Melbourne's topic in Instructors and School Owners
Seminar or sit on a panel?? If the instructor of a seminar is one that we wanted to visit our dojo, we'd honor their fees, but every fee can be negotiated no matter what because that's what two business do. As a guest on a Testing Cyle panel, and I've done many of those, lunch/dinner works for me. -

I, too, am on Eliquis, which is a blood thinner, ever since 2018 due to my having Afib. The bruising is no joke, and the bruising remains as long as it does, depending on the bruising. Besides the bruising comes the bleeding that might take longer for the bleeding to stop. The bleeding under the skin looks like a purple spot varying in its size. The wearing of pads doesn't eliminate the bruising or bleeding, so sparring is just not worth the risk. So, what can one do who takes blood thinner?? Like what aurik does...NO SPARRING. What do I do?? Well, I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer. What I did right after being prescribed Eliquis, and at the advice of both of my PCP and Cardiologist, was... "If you're determined to spar while on blood thinner, and I do not recommend it, find a trusted partner that will respect your limitations." That's what I did, Partner Shadow Boxing, however, the novelty of that quicky died off. It's difficult to hit me but not impossible because, darn-it, things happen. -
Is Tang Soo Do pretty much Karate?
sensei8 replied to Himokiri Karate's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
Way to any similarities between TSD and Karate, so, imho, TSD is Karate and in that, Karate is TSD. How many different ways can you punch, kick, strike, block, move, and stand that are effective?? What's in a label?? TSD...Karate...they're one in the same, more or less. So as not to confuse one from another, those darn labels return so one can tell which one is which. -

Your Royals had a great 2024 season and should be proud of what they've accomplished across the board. Some of the things that the Royals and you should be proud of...not saying that you're not proud of your Royals... 1) The Royals swept the Astros and the White Sox in a 7-0 at home. 2) Witt's game-tying triple form when the Royals were down 8 and sent the Mariners packing. 3) March's 7 strong innings set up prevented a 4-game sweep and set up Garcia's walk-off against my Yankees. 4) Lugo's complete game. 5) Witt's Grand Slam against the White Sox. 6) Royals acquire Erceg from the A's. 7) Even though Pasquantina broke his thumb, then Royals brought in 3 vets with depth and experience. 8} Royals swept the Twins. 9) Royals go to the ALDS...Swept the Orioles on the road. Nothing to sneeze at. All in all, I was very glad to face the Royals and not the Astros in the playoffs because the Astros seem to have the Yankees numbers. Not saying that the Rolays were going to be an easy, and it wasn't, but the Astros have been a pain in the Yankees backside as of late. I was so excited that the Tigers elemomated the Astros in the their WC series that I drank one more Pepsi Diet followed by a Dr. Pepper Diet...it felt so good. GO YANKEES!!

Believe in yourself and your abilities as well as your limitations. The size vs skills discussion will outlast us all until the end of time. Will we all truly ever agree one way or another?? Imho, no we won't but that's ok because we're not supposed to agree with everyone and/or everything about anything. I do enjoy our discussions quite thoroughy no matter the topic.

I've been filming myself as well as my students as well as any other training for a very long time, a priceless tool, because the camera never blinks and give an honest critique whether one likes it or not. Like the floor, the camera is in unforgiving.

Well, well, well!! The Yankees return to the ALCS for the 4th time in 8 years. How might you ask?? By winning games 2, 3 and 4 against the hosting Royals of the ALDS series. Game 1: Royals 5 and Yankees 6 at Yankee Stadium. Game 2: Royals 4 and Yankees 2 at Yankee Stadium Game 3: Royals 2 and Yankees 3 at Kaufman Stadium Game 4: Royals 1 and Yankees 3 at Kaufman Stadium Yankees are now waiting for the outcome of the ALDS game 5 between Cleavland and Detroit. Had a team's bench-clearing out in the 6th inning around second base after Garcia slid late into the base but this altercation was ended as fast as it began. Yankees closers, Holmes and Weaver took care of business in the 8th and 9th innings respectfully to close out for the ALDS victory. Due to how good Judge is, he's been playing center field and not his usual right field. Boone determined that with Judge's best and most experience that it would best serve their outfield defense with Andujar and Fraiser developing their outside skills. Still, makes sense, but it is strange to see Judge not in right field. ALCS best-of-seven, with the Yankees hosting the winner of the AL Wild Card game, starts this Monday and Tuesday, October 14th and 15th!! GO YANKEES!!
