  1. I agree with DWx. The point sparring gear does not last at all. I actually own a set of Macho warrior gear I got less than a year ago and the feet and hand gear is ripping pretty bad even my head gear is ripping on inside. I could see the outside ripping from doing self defense drills not the inside. But the Macho lasted a little longer than the century gear which I had before this gear.
  2. I like O soto gari, too. I have trouble pulling it off with a bigger opponent. They seem to just pick me up an plant me on my bum.
  3. That is good Bastich keep that up. If you have time after class stretch some more, it is good to stretch the muscles after they are warm. I agree the basic stuff is more important (punches, blocks, stances and working on kicking with proper form than height).
  4. Welcome to the forums!
  5. Sorry hear that tiger. I was hoping my family and I would get to do something to put well that is out of the question.
  6. Hopefully we will have a nice warm summer. I hope to be able to ride my horse and spend a lot of time pool side. I hope to be able to do 5k or something this fall, since I took up running again. I have not ran any distance since high school so it has been pretty interesting to me.
  7. Welcome to the forums!
  8. Not a coffee drinker here. I love the smell though but I can not get past my lips without gagging. I am a tea drinker, ice tea, hot tea, chai tea love it.
  9. It was very sad to hear being from this area. My thoughts are with the fallen officer's and their family's.
  10. I agree DWx, I loved the first ones. The second was ok. So I do hope the third will be good.
  11. Huh, tiger we must have the same student, except I made sure my sensei heard me warn this student repeatedly before I hit him hard back and then sensei told him she warn you several times, when the student look at him. But I was not angry, yet. DWx I completely agree.
  12. I kind of think like tiger on this. I also over analysis when I get angry afterward. An I think when you are angry technique goes out the door for a lot of people. I am not saying everyone some people know how to use there anger, but not everyone. I also think there is a time and place for using your anger as this is what tiger said and think it should be kept in check in ma class. I know it is hard sometimes but like tiger says use it in a positive way.
  13. I am about 5'.5" and 169 to 170 lb's. and I wear a size 4 gi. The pants are always to long and big, I wash and dry them even though your not suppose to but it works for me. My husband is about the same size as you 5'.9" and 175 lb's. he also orders a size 4 gi.
  14. I found it hard when I started to help with the kids class also, but you have to remember they are just kids. So try to think like a kid.
  15. Wow, that is great.
  16. Welcome to the forums, Tony.
  17. Pretty lucky this year, did not fall for any.
  18. Man I'm glad my horses never did something like that. Pretty scary I think!
  19. I agree with tallgeese. It is nice to do the bounce in point sparring to be quick but if you are looking for endurance and inflicting damage and if training for self defense agree with tallgeese.
  20. Sorry to here that. Maybe look into renting in that net flex. I think that is what it is called.
  21. I would not go by what you were told I would go and watch for your self and maybe take a few free lesson if they offer. Because what you stated above what was not good for one might be good for you. So you never know, go and watch and write down some question you might want to ask the instructor. I personally love kata's and if you study the bunkai of kata's they are not boring at all. Good luck!
  22. I really do not have any ideas for rehab around acl surgery but you came to a good place. I am sure there has been practitioner here who have under gone the same thing so you will get a lot of good advise here. I think no.1 piece of advise I can give you is rest it and let it heel and the other one will be listen to your body. You do not want to push your self and undo what has been fixed and lots of ice to help keep inflammation down once your back on your feet. I wish you good luck with your surgery and keep us posted on your recovery.
