Assaulted and Knocked out!
white owl replied to Shotokan-kez's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
I am so sorry kez that this happen to you but this is not your fault and you need to quit blaming yourself, I know it is easier said then done, but you do. As a martial artiest we try to train are self for every scenario possible and hope that when the time comes that we will be able to pull it off but sometimes it does not always work that way. Being a martial artist is always a learning experience just like life. But you live, you learn. What I mean by this is that you take this experience and use it as a teaching method so maybe you can help some one else who might be but in a similar situation as what you were in. -
Looks really good. I loved the cartoon as a kid as well.
-
So why did you start training - what keeps you going?

I agree with justicezero there is a lot of good karate school that do not advertise and are not in the phone books, so you have to look around and ask around. -
Very true bushido_man!

It was about 3 years ago when I purchased a gear bag from them. If I remember right it seem like it took for ever to get it and that might be why I have not shop there again.

Groin kicking in sparring
white owl replied to akedm's topic in MMA, Muay Thai, Kickboxing, Boxing, and Competitive Fighting
O K, now speaking as a woman. I would never intentionally hit to the groin but I am not afraid to get dirty if need be, either. I have personally been kick in that area a few times an it hurts bad and I would not render that pain to some one else purposely. I do not know about the other lady's but as a young girl my parents preached to me if ever I need to protect my self in a situation like some one trying to abduct me to aim for the groin and take off screaming as loud as I can until I got some where safe. So it was ingrain in to me if ever I felt threaten to aim for that area because it would bring a big person down. As for a practicing in a self defense situation with out contact, why not? Yes accidents do happen so wear a cup. -
Thank you, Patrick. I also hope everyone had a nice holiday, too.

I actually tried it out before I bought one. The store that I purchased it from had 2 different types, one was all plastic (which you can find in Walmart) and the other had a wood platform and plastic ball to balance on (which you can find in sporting good stores or Target) and purchase the wood one, it was harder to balance on.

Methods of tracking exercises and exercise routines.
white owl replied to akedm's topic in Health and Fitness
I actually do the same thing when I feel like keeping track. -
I have actually heard about that one, never tryed it though. Bushido_Man named a good book about flexibility; Ultimate Flexibility by Sang H. Kim, I highly recommend this book also.
-
Good to hear that it fits good.

white owl replied to bushido_man96's topic in Equipment and Gear
Wow I can not believe I never posted on this. Well here goes: 3 karate gi's judo gi sparring gear (Including mouth piece 2-3 them) focus mitts heavy bag 12 ounce boxing gloves grappling mitts bokken nunchuks (2 pair of foam and a wooden pair) kamas bo tennis ball hanging from the ceiling for speed work and lot of books and a few dvds I think that is it, maybe.
