Summer is over
kchenault replied to White_Tiger's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
This should probably be in the Instructor Central forum. Not that I can move it there, but you might get more responses. Try giving a FREE introductory course. -
Lawrence KS, USA A Liberal's paradise amongst my conservative views. Oh, well. http://www.ci.lawrence.ks.us/

If his punches are crappy, he probably studies a form of sport TKD.

Sorry I need to vent!

Most people would, considering they would be in shock. -
His sweeps sound like the ones I learned in Moo Duk Kwan TKD. We used to use leg sweeps that you spun close to the ground and hit at ankle level. I gotta say, 6'2" at 160 lbs. doesn't seem like much to me. I'm 5'7" at 198 lbs. He must be very fast and very, very good.

Don't get me wrong, I like living in Kansas. It is full of people who tend to think like me more than not, all though, Lawrence is full of people who do not think like me and it shows, it is very humid and hot here in the summer and can get cold in the winter. The humidity is killer here. Makes it most unbearable at times. Last week we were topping out at 104 degrees with 95% humidity! ARRGGHH!! Now it has been about 85 with 50-60% humidity. Much nicer, I have had my AC off for 2 days now. What is it like in MA?

Read the article. Fluff piece! I live in the "hilly" part of Kansas and man is it "hilly"! BUT, and there is always a but, if you go to the tops of those hills, called plateaus, you can see that even the hills are generally flat on top. It is really quite awe inspiring to see how God created Kansas.

Welcome aboard axechick! Kick it up anytime you can.

My brother was a natural born fighter. He was also a wrestler in High School. He would take on 2 and 3 guys at once and kick the snot out of them. My younger brother is this way as well. Natural born scrappers.

Was the spine break in the middle of the back or at the neck?

Give 'em both up.

Once again, people here are mistaken. Wolverine's bones are grafted with Adamantium. Not the joints. If they were, he wouldn't be able to move. Spidey could snap Wolvie's neck and that would be it. If the brain can't send signals to the healing factor, he's dead.

I am a Christian.

Mine is something I picked up from another board. They didn't want any pretense about who we were and I liked that idea. It is who I am.
-
Everyone keeps saying Wolvie can't die. Why is that? Wolverine is not immortal, like Cannonball, he is just extremely hardy. It would be a stalemate, because they are both very popular characters. So, Marvel wouldn't let either have the full advantage, to keep from ticking one set of fans off.

I wasn't arguing the moral side, there I agree. I was trying to get the idea across that greed is what decides the issue. As for it not being right. Copying is copying, so anyone who owns a vcr and uses it for recording purposes is in the wrong, quality not withstanding. Thanks for the civil conversation on a controversial topic MA. It's how it should be.

One more thing. Should I, as a consumer, have more copyrights when I buy something? Meaning, should some of the copyright transfer to me since I have paid for the item. Or am I just paying for the use of the "intellectual property" and I actually own the worthless piece of plastic that holds it? Hmmmmmm....

Playing Devil's Advocate, what about a movie that is played over public airwaves? Or a song played over the radio? NFL football games are played on the "free" airwaves, but they are also copyrighted. By their copyright, you are not even supposed to tape them off of tv. Are there different parts to copyright law concerning different media? Also, I don't have cable, so I don't know this. Does HBO, Cinemax and the like play the FBI message before a movie? I would say copyright law is flawed and also the government doesn't disseminate the info about the law very well. Things that make you go hmmm.....

I have to ask the question. Have you personally ever recorded anything with a VCR? If so, you have infringed on someone elses copyright. Therefore, you have stolen from them. This can be applied to anything with a copyright on it. It may seem black and white, but the ramifications are really dark. You can't prosecute everyone, but how do you justify the discriminitory practice of singling out people because they have made money on the stealing? By your own line of thinking, stealing is stealing. Not whether any money was made. I have taped TV episodes from the television, and I have downloaded tv episodes from the internet. I do not sell them, but I have broken copyright laws, because I did not pay for the eps. Will I be prosecuted? Probably not, but had I sold them on eBay, you bet. It is all about money, not rights, IMO. This too will pass.

Pilsung is Korean for Victory or Certain Victory. It is what we say when we bow to each other in the dojang. It's a respect thing.
