I didn't know rank mattered that much. I thought studying an art made you an artist if you practiced said art. Case in point, Bill "Superfoot" Wallace didn't hold an official rank for many years because his instructor didn't give them out. When he started competing he needed one and his instructor said, okay, 2nd degree blackbelt. True story. Yeah, Jackie's the real deal alright....

You are correct sir. Taking our right to defend ourselves from thugs and government is a very socialist and WRONG thing to do.
-
Tang Soo Guy, I never said it was better or right. I was merely pointing out that people were talking in their posts like the story took place in America. Nothing more. Get a grip on your convictions man. I personally think it is a bad thing for government to take weapons rights away from the people. I believe in the 2nd Amendment. It is the only way the people can keep the government from getting completely out of hand. The states with conceal and carry laws on the books have less crime. It is fact. I simply thought it was an interesting story, and thought I would post the link.

Let's remember that this is not taking place in America. It is being done in Australia.

Some may think that swords went away with the 1800's, but not so. Check out this story from the Land Down Under: http://worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=38896

Definately Best of the Best and Best of the Best 2. -
If it is screen printed you are probably SOL. Screen printing usually only fades with time and washing. Unfotunately, the fabric will wear out faster than the printing. Sorry, Laurie.

I never said it wasn't horrible, but what Hitler and Japan were trying to do to the rest of the world wasn't any kind of picnic. But then again I shouldn't expect anything different from someone who lives in Berkeley, CA. Home of the great psuedo-intellectual pacifists of the U.S. War is a terrible thing, we can all agree on that, I think, but some things were necessary. Don't even try to tell me the world isn't better for the U.S. dropping the H-bomb on Japan. The are several million Jews in the world who are probably a little more grateful than you that we did. But this should be on another thread. This one is about GM food. So if you want to continue Beka, PM me. **EDIT** A-Bomb, I have been corrected. I just thought they were the same thing. A really BIG bang.

And everybody said AMEN!

If science hadn't discovered the A-bomb, we would all be speaking german or japanese right now. Back to the vegetables. If a tomato isn't red enough for you, leave it on the window sill to get some sun. That will usually ripen them up for you. Most store bought veggies are like that. Jusy don't over do it or they will rot. I always look fo somewhat "green" veggies as they last at home a little longer. I don't buy organic because it is not cost effective for my family of six.

Do a search on Matt Furey on the net. Or Body by Fish. They both have great body weight calisthenics for getting overall strength and conditioning. I have been doing it for about 2 weekd and it feels great.
-
Why would you want to do a technique that is bad for your Rotator Cuff? I have jus started doing Hindu pushups, Hindu Squats and Back Bridges for my workout. Man what a difference! I feel great. The soreness doesn't seem to last as long and I can feel myself getting stronger all over. I am trying to incorporate pull-ups into my routine. No equipment but the kids swing set. It rocks!

I'm not talking about Christians, man! I'm talking about the moderators on this board. Get a clue, please. They have closed threads for less than what you and I have done. That is the point I was trying to make. You are entitled to have your opinion, fine, good for you. Let's move on already. This is what this board prides itself on. Everyone must be nice to everyone else.....Next!

Sometimes you may not think your wording is inflammatory, but others may take it that way. Just a cautionary statement my non-believing friend. Long Live Free Speech! (for both sides of an issue).
-
Thank you for the followup comment. For a minute, I thought you thought I was serious. At least I hope you know I am kidding about shutting it down. But as Adminstrator, you would know that inflaming language and blownout opinions are often shutdown when the tone is deemed disrespectful. I voted for Bush and plan to do so again, because I don't see anyone better coming along. But this is also a line of talk that will get this thread shutdown.
-
Going with the flow of April Fool's Day, as a KF Sensei, I will have to shut this thread down if we don't watch our tone. Please keep it respectful, without accusation and badmouthing. Thank you. Now back to the posts. I don't think we "Christians" have a problem with the world. I think the world has a problem with us. Because we won't bow to it's wishes and live like everybody else. We don't conform to society, therefore some feel we should go "buy an island". Unfortunately, the same could be said for every dissenting point of view.

I liked your answer Ironberg. Much along the same lines of my article in the articles forum. The article was written for Christians, so they could maybe figure out where they stand on the issue. Later days.

Christians and the Martial Arts

Opinions one and all, to be sure, but everyone here should hone up on the subject matter before discussing or interjecting with what could be viewed by some as inflammatory remarks. Thanks for keeping it civil and hopefully on topic. -

When & Why To Fight or Surrender?
kchenault replied to bigpopparob2000's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
Okay, the wife and I were watching an episode of Oprah, yeah, yeah, Oprah, the other night. It was on how people respond to pain in a crisis. They had this lawyer on who got shot 7, that's right 7 times, point blank with a .38. He never went down and said he didn't feel a thing until it was all over. He stayed alive trying to hide behind a tree that obviously wasn't wide enought to protect him. This story was in the national news this past year. The video is quite extreme. It was all caught on tape. The "expert" doctor on the show has a book about just this sort of thing. Pain is a response from your body telling you something is wrong and you better get help or at least, stop what you are doing. In these extreme cases, the mind has already perceived the danger and therefore shuts down the pain response so the body can perform whatever actions it needs to in order to survive. The lawyer said he could feel the impact of the bullets but the pain didn't hit for about an hour afterward. Knowing this, I would have to say I would fight the scumbag tooth and nail to protect whoever was with me. Self-preservation dictates this for me and so do my beliefs as a Christian. -
Editors were in abundance on the film. I read that the first cut of the film was 6, that's right, 6 hours long!! I think they pared it down quite a bit. I hope they include all that footage in the extended version. Can't wait. So much of the story is missing in this last film.
