  1. Really Joanne Siddall? This girl is a disgrace. She got what was coming to her. Take Care
  2. This is not a thread to start bad mouthing different styles and its only supposed to be taken in the light hearted manner it was intended. So the question is, What style do you think your style would work best against and why? Take Care. Ps, Oops should have been in comparative styles.
  3. Luckly in our dojo, we dont have any of these problems. In Ki Aikido you are not aloud to take your dan grade before 18. If someone from another Aikido system came to us and was not upto standard, I am sure Sensei would have no trouble taking them down a few grades. Take Care
  4. "Circle of Death", I really like the sound of that. Take Care.
  5. Sorry Phrost, but when I read the threads from your members, I can only be left with an impassable rage! They are appear to have a very very very closed minded attitude to all the traditional stylee, especially the Wudang Kung Fu. Just IMHO ofcourse. Take Care.
  6. Respect cant be demanded it must be earnt. Things I wont except Mocking my style. Hitting Women. IGNORANCE! Take Care.
  7. Quite possibly Chris, Aikido techniques have been further refined by O Sensei, and therefore changed from the much more physical Daito Ryu cousin. Bruce K. Frantzis is very knowledgable on the Wudang Kung Fu (soft styles). He has theorised that when O Sensei was in China and Mongolea acting as a body guard, he learnt Ba Gua and Hsing-i chuen. This could be a reason for the widing of the gap between Aikido and Aikijutsu, as Aikido is really the only true Japanese internal style, so influenced by the Wudang. Take Care.
  8. Thai_Kick, feel free to stay at https://www.mma.tv I am sure you would fit in better there to. Just kidding. Take Care.
  9. Thai_Kick, I will say what I please. Because I can. Take Care.
  10. "the best and toughest fighter in the world" perhaps in the UFC and entertainment arena. Not that I really know enough about it. But I am sure he is a great Athlete. Take Care.
  11. Look guys, we have argued this one for sometime. When it comes down to it we should just respect eachothers opinion. I now respect Thai_Kicks point of view, which is no thrills fighting. Just getting the job done. Which is a great way to become a good fighter, a martial fighter perhaps not an artist, but I think Thai_Kick does not do it for that. Martial_Artist, I also completely agree with what you are saying. I think also a martial art is what you make it. Thats just IMHO ofcourse. Take Care.
  12. I agree completely. In Aikido, using your opponents strength is centeral to how the Aikido system works. Ofcourse in real life I have no idea how I would react. Perhaps I would do some really amazing defence and finish, perhaps I would run and run and run. My Ukemi suggestion is only one of many, but in REAL life, god only knows. Take Care.
  13. I consider myself a good martial artist, not because I can fight well, break boards with my head or kick 10 feet into the air. Simply because I have not fought! So I agree whole heartedly with KickChick. Kenpo, I do seem to detected in the way you are writing, that there is some sort of underlying "knock" at those of us that have not be in a fight. My first course of action would be to ask you to read the Self Defence thread, where Thai_Kick argued I think the point you are trying to make between thoery and the real world. Personally if I was told right know that Aikido and my Sensei's teachings dont work at all in real life, I would still do it. I happen to know that it does work, although I have not used it. So whether it works FOR ME is still in question, but a question I would rather leave unanswered. "The greatest victory is the battle not fought." Admiral Yamamoto. Take Care.
  14. Cheers Mike Take care
  15. osu! You are so right though, this is something that cant be replicated in the dojo or in the ring. Take Care.
  16. Thanks Jade, that is what I mean. As the shoot fighter came in I would: A- Dojo situation, cut him in half with my Katana. (In real life no Katana......lol) B- Jokes aside, the art of Ukemi is to bond yourself with the floor. As he commited himself, I would slide into the floor grabbing his shoulders, as I went under him. As he went over me I would then raise my leg between his, firstly to add some more pain to his "Joy department" also to propelle him clear over me, so that I could be on top of him before he could turn back onto his front or get up. The either apply an Nikkyo or Sankyo pin maybe a choke. Take Care.
  17. Very true Jade, I commend your honesty. When it comes down to loved ones that you would do anything to protect, anything can happen. Take Care.
  18. Backward Ukemi (Breakfall) and left him fly over the top of me. Take Care.
  19. Yes I believe so. From what I have heard from my friends that study Chi Kung, a similar sort of "impact" training occurs. Usually its with Hanbo's or Jo's and the person is struck across the chest, back of legs, back of neck and across the fore-arms. This is known as "iron body". Ba Gua Master Wang Shu Jin could take full contact blows to the groin as he could ingest his testicals (hmm...nice ) Hope thats of some help Kick Chick. Take Care PS monkeygirl, may I suggest a can of Raid
  20. If its anywhere online, try Amazon.com, enter the books name and you can see SOME of the pages. It might be on one of them. Take Care.
