i told someone recently of the old tradition....where if i got out of line or was not performing to standard..i was whipped with a bamboo stick..she could not understand it...it was part of the old tradition..part of the old training..something that was accepted at the time...i dont condone it now nor do i encourage it..but it was a part of my training at the time...a more traditional training..not to say taekwondo can be taught today without it..for it is necessary now to not do that..with all the abuse laws now and all..but i never held it against my master..and it was a kind of special attention given in my training to become a disciplined and well rounded martial artist.....recently he visited me and i got the old whipping for my mistakes..but i felt it wasnt degrading as she thought but a kind of a bond with my traditional training..almost an honor..unless you came up through the ranks like that you wouldnt understand...and i thank you baby for being so concerned about me ..but thats the way it was..and had made me a much better martial artist.although i dont do this with my students now..i remember my roots and my tradition..and realize..man they have it much easier now..but tradition sometimes doesent make sense only unto those who have lived it..i being a natural comedian got whupped on the most for making other students laugh during training..but i came out a much more tougher indvidual...soo that was then this is now...but i remember all the whuppings and the person i have become today...and alltough you may not understand it....that was my training...and i take constant whuppings today in every day life..but im tough..and i can take anything...physical or moreso mentally.its in my character..today i realize that the bamboo stick is nothing..compared to the abuse of everyday life can inflict on us..but i am strong....thank you for your concern.....but it was what it was..javi

tkd street fighting
taezee replied to blood talon's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
how many times can this subject be bought up again and again..and the same responses?...you are either not studying nor have seen real taekwondo..if you can just casually say.."well its not really good".."its kicks are not effective"...its insults me and my art....what do you think ive been doing for the last twenty four years..studying ballet?..ill take the "pepsi challenge" anywhere..any time...and one final note..its the worlds most popular martial art..but its not 'effective.'.so the forty or so million practioners worldwide are all wasting thier time.... _________________ Javier l Rosario bayshore new york instructor taekwondo/hapkido "whenever youre lazy enough not to train .someone, somewhere is training very hard to kick your ass" [ This Message was edited by: taezee on 2002-02-01 01:35 ] -
An honourable death, a true story from just last week.
taezee replied to Angus's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
ytou know what angus youre always with this front about how tough it is in australia and about how tough you gotta be /..please its boring allready..new york is much worse and believe me in the mean streets here is much better to go home alive then to worry about saving face.and portraying some hero.they dont play here.you could be shot here in the face simply by looking at someone the wrong way..why do all of youre post have to sound like something out of the "west side story?"..ohh i got confronted by a gang of bad guys...but i prevailed...im a good martial artist..ohh im tough please allready!!!! _________________ Javier l Rosario bayshore new york instructor taekwondo/hapkido "whenever youre lazy enough not to train .someone, somewhere is training very hard to kick your ass" [ This Message was edited by: taezee on 2002-01-18 03:12 ] -

wtf? why would you even consider this topic?..man your training regime//has much to consider..are you actually practicing a martial art..or are you just here to offer entertainment?? -
okayyyy first of all if you were even stodying korean martial arts you would not reffer to your instructor as sensei....and as for all the other giberish youre talking youre describing moves of a video game..for those of you not familiar with me yet on this site..i go by taezee..and as you can see right away im one that is quite direct and forth coming on my experience and opinon on whats going on in my sector of real taekwondo..what i have just read here is totally and exageration if not dwelling on the realm of fantasy..soo while i continue to play my "immortal combat" game on my tv..please..where are you coming from with this garbage?...ive been on quite long enough and listening to all you new jacks here...and without sounding too high and above..let me tell you something straight up,,i AM the most experienced member here on korean martial arts..and will continue to distinguish what is real here and what is straight out of a fantasy martial arts movie..you guys are really taking thngs too that next level and im here to say stop it allready....you want facts and not fantasy on korean martial arts..ask me!!

ive grown soooooo tired of hearing the pecentange of kicking vs hand techniques over the years.....90% this 70 % that..etc..etc... although my art is known for its dynamic kicking there are plenty of hand techniques also involved in TKD ..and throws and knee strikes and elbows... weve got all these "self proclaimed know it all" everywhere i go or read up on martial arts always people who think they can sum up taekwon do as..just a kicking art..anybody that says this has never seriously studied taekwon do

i have had far too many things happen in my dreams which then came to pass in reality that coicidence is no longer a part of the equation....meeting certain people and thinking "where do i know you from?" i met you in my dreams!!!!...winding up in a certain area or home or place..with certain people and knowing what they are going to do or say becuase i allready dreamed it....has happend on many occasions....my dreams are intense and i remember details vividly as if i had lived the moment....now dont get me wrong im not quite ready to start "taezees pyscic hotline" but there is i believe a connection between dreams and reality..that is not readily explainable...ive been having very sweet dreams lately hope to see the outcome soon..

How important is speed to you?
taezee replied to Singularity's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
one thing ive seen again and again is that with martial arts there are no boundries..that the indomitable spirit we form in doing martial arts can overcome almost any obstacle..physical or mental -
TKD's very little blocking
taezee replied to mastertae's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
master tae there are plenty of blocks in TKD as far as sport there is a big diference..there has to be a distinction made between sport taekwondo and REAL taekwondo..the two stem from the same roots but remain two tiotally diferrent things -
How important is speed to you?
taezee replied to Singularity's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
sai the best drills in increasing foot speed and velocity of kicks and accuracy at the same time is paddles or targets..also great for working footwork..such as closing the gap and striking at the same time..besides the heavy bag..paddles are a great improvement in force of kicks..and speed _________________ Javier l Rosario bayshore new york instructor taekwondo/hapkido "whenever youre lazy enough not to train .someone, somewhere is training very hard to kick your ass" [ This Message was edited by: taezee on 2001-12-25 15:58 ] -
How important is speed to you?
taezee replied to Singularity's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
speed is an upmost factor in any srtikes hand or foot..the more velocity the more power...you cant get hurt by a bullet thrown at you but that same bullet out of a gun with the firece velocity will pierce and kill you....the faster you are with your strikes hand or feet the more penetrating energy or force you will strike with.... -

full contact TKD
taezee replied to Prodigy-Child's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
well i have said this many times before that tkd "full contact" is merely an "enhancment" of "point karate"..theres alot more contact allowed as far as kicks..however the hands are so limited that its not real full contact fighting..and again its not "armor" we are wearing..anyone doing taekwondo will know this equipment we wear doesnt stop the force of a kick.....however there are far too many rules involved to really say that it is a full contact match..but while hand strikes are limited full contact kicks to the head are encouraged...and all the kicks we do in these matches do hurt.despite our very thin armor...ask an amature boxer if when geting pucnhed in the head with the head gear if he feels any less pain... -
i was in a supermarket and this old lady tried to cut me in line..she then shoved me and swung with her purse but i ducked and came back with a spinning wheel kick..to the head and her dentures went flying... baaad granny..bad bad bad _________________ Javier l Rosario bayshore new york instructor taekwondo/hapkido "whenever youre lazy enough not to train .someone, somewhere is training very hard to kick your ass" [ This Message was edited by: taezee on 2001-12-22 18:23 ]
